  • The Cuban National Assembly has just closed after a three-day session.
    Cuba's economy grew by nearly 2 percent last year but the island nation is producing far fewer food staples than it did a few years ago.
    Politicians are now scrambling to find solutions.
    Al Jazeera’s Ed Augustin reports from the capital Havana.

    Glad to hear someone is increasing food production. Providing in your own food supply is always a good idea.

    Here's an idea ....... how about allowing the farmers to earn a living ? Allowing them to grow extra food and sell it. They would incentive to grow food again. When you set up road blocks to catch and dump that "extra" on the roadside, it disincentivizes them to grow anything at all. The road back to prosperity is going to start with the farmer/food production

    • @tahaistheboss98
      @tahaistheboss98 Месяц назад

      easy for you to say when youre not in a 64 year old blockade where no fertilisers, no seeds, no machinery and no export is allowed

    • @hockleyvalleycoffeeroaster4599
      @hockleyvalleycoffeeroaster4599 Месяц назад

      @@tahaistheboss98 you have no idea what you are talking about. The government in their attempt to shut down the black market put up a road block/security check point to catch farmers transporting their goods into the city. Like all authoritarian regimes, they had to prove a point by dumping the goods at the side of the road and letting it rot rather than confiscating and putting it into the store. The end result was that some farmers chose not to farm for $6 per month. The state got zero produce from those farmers. The state, unable to feed the citizens had to use scarce resources to import food where they should be producing and exporting food.
      So tell me again about the blockade!

    Cuba need to
    1. Remove the cap on people and not allowing people to do what they need and want to survive .
    2. Create Industries and businesses
    3.they need to create grocery stores to allow more farming and supplying and less street vending .
    4.incorporate the use of solar power
    5.get with other Caribbean nations
