- The new Maybach GLS 600 raises the bar for luxury SUVs. On the outside you will find a new grill, Mercedes hood ornament and 23in forged wheels. On the inside there is tons of leather, executive seating and a fridge. Under the hood is a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. I went back and forth doing test drives and reading reviews of all the higher end SUV's. It was a close call with the Maybach, but I ultimately went with the fully loaded Kia Soul. 12% APR is steep, but the e-z 96 month loan, full tank of gas, and free car washes for a year made it all worthwhile.

Yes it’s definitely a top choice, Mercedes Knows exactly what they are doing with the Maybach lineup and how well they sell. I absolutely have no zonks whatsoever for this and love everything about it.

Its crazy to me. They make such nice vehicles but their like maintaining a private jet.
Owners of these don’t use these as daily drivers, nor do they keep them past 3-4 years! It blows my mind when people come to a high end vehicle 🚗 reviews with a Toyota mentality 😂!

Great color that accents the car’s lines. The wheels are very nice. It’s a bargain considering the price of the Bentley and Rolls Royce competitors. It’s for those wealthy people who don’t care about being flashy like the other two SUVs. Nice review as always!

Touch screen controls were a huge advancement, but people still love that tactile bliss that can only be had with pushing real buttons.
I got mine last week.WOW ,amazing ride and handling!
Made in Alabama is a plus.

I saw some guy at Costco gas station with one of these. Dude parked on the wrong side of pump and had to stretch the hose over the roof. More money than sense is what this SUV exudes.

I don't like leather on the AC vents and cargo cover. A little over kill, but if I bought one I would have a driver.

This is a palace with wheels and honestly the starting price is not that high considering this is a premium vehicle.
Great vehicle but the fit/finish need to be better for it being an ultra luxury vehicle.

Disappointing that you did show the deployable running boards/side step. They’re beautifully crafted with the Maybach logo, similarly to the accelerator and brake pedals. And of course, when they deploy, there’s a beautifully smooth delivery for you to get in and out of the vehicle.

Mercedes is killing it so far in 2023; their sales are up, and they have more profit per car than any other major car company. By keeping going upmarket and making ridiculously expensive, but readily serviced vehicles, they are winning big. the other luxury marks have no repair network, so a wealthy person is going to pick Mercedes a lot of the time for the convenience.
My Uncle was a car dealer in Beverly Hills in the 30s thru 60s. His VIP clients included Katherine Hepburn and Rosalind Russel; they could drive anything they wanted, Rolls, Bentley etc .
Hepburn always drove a mid-size Ford Coupe (Hardtop) in a plain brown ; Russel drove a mid-size Oldsmobile, plain brown, These people were Famous, very glamorous and wealthy, and for them, being under the radar was Freedom . . .
In the 80s I briefly owned Russel's Immaculate former Lincoln Continental. When I got it I assumed it was a Staff Car, her Assistant's car, because it was plain brown, but the Pink Slip said Rosalind Russel at her Palm Springs address. Then My Uncle told me about her Plain Brown cars and it all made sense.
I think the wheels would look better on a different color, and they’re a bit too big for my taste.

all features available in a $70k fully loaded mazda cx90 hybrid plug in, u cud buy fully loaded Honda pilot $70k & Infiniti QX80 Proactive fully loaded $98k = altogether $238,000 (3 for the price of 1)

The 2024 Infiniti QX Looks nice, so does the 2024 Mercedes AMG GT 63 with aerodynamic package looks amazing too. This Maybach looks nice as well.

No, that would be the 2024 Range Rover SV P615. That said, this looks a lot better for 2024 and it's "my-bach", not "may-bach". The GLS does not have rear wheel steering.

I have always been confused when it came to these luxury cars with the wine holders and the chilled fridge that holds Wine so if your being chauffeured is it ok to drink in the car? I said that cause most if not all have open container laws but if you’re not driving I don’t know how that works.

Surprised the unit you’re demo’ing doesn’t have the rear seat entertainment system. Would’ve been nice to see the ottoman functionality - and how the front passenger seat moves into chauffeur mode to accommodate. Pop a bottle into the fridge next time and show the sliver plates flutes that pop into the holders. I like this vehicle, as a MB enthusiast. The piece that is most disappointing to me is the lack of cargo space. You’re right about barely fitting two carry ons. Wish there had been a way to design the refrigerator components differently to free up space in the boot. I don’t see how you can move any cargo. Admittedly, this vehicle isn’t resigned for that, it’s more of the back seat experience vs practicality - but, would be ideal to have both in a premium priced package.
I don’t understand the part of the fog light area, where one side is functional the other isn’t? Also, you missed an opportunity to show off that the rear has massaging seats akin to the front.

The 580 looks so much better exterior wise. The choices in materials and styling on much of the outside of this thing really cheapen the entire car. Real shame because I really like the style of the 580. I also really hate these wheels. Remind me of a town and country minivan my parents had in 1995.
