Unlike most others, I do like the proper revivial of a 2002 style of vertical grill with the horizontal grills around it. The problems I have with this is that BMW just seems to want to remove the Angel Eyes and give their cars this generic Devil's Fangs. There's also all the unneccessary angular design - not every line has to be a super sharp crease, not every joint between lines have to have 0 radius! Lastly, if only they could keep the beltline a straight line and not have some unneccessary random slight upward kink? Just keep the beltline straight until it ends off with a clean sharp Hoffmeister kink.

I think the issue with the skinny vertical kidneys is while it worked very well for say the 2002.. the models they have placed it on so far are soo much wider & larger in general. It creates a weird balance to the overall look.
Honestly I like Neue Klasse, I don’t understand what people are asking from a BMW SUV? Do people want a lifted F30? What you want? This is literally how E30 would look like in 2024!
I personally prefer having clear kidneys rather than the extra large "kidney+grille", especially considering that everyone was complaining about BMW kidneys becoming too large. It could be improved to minimize the "clashing" with the front headlights, but a sizeable grill is preferable for a car with a bonnet that high. I don't mind the side profile: imo, it's better to consider it a "no shoulder line" car (the current 4-series already has something similar). The front somehow looks odd, but I do really like that they brought back the kidneys. Maybe the headlights need to be more round to make it work better. It doesn't have a proper face with these headlights. Also I think the bumper does not work that well with these kidneys. The front is always the face of a car and just like with people when you look at the face, look into the eyes you can see the personality. Do they not listen to any of the feedback they get from their recent designs??
The front light design + grill make it look like two phallic objects mirror at the base….
Cannot take this new front end. I like the sedan version better.
I think this design with rear wheel drive proportions would look great
The front somehow looks odd, but I do really like that they brought back the kidneys. Maybe the headlights need to be more round to make it work better. It doesn't have a proper face with these headlights. Also I think the bumper does not work that well with these kidneys.
The front is always the face of a car and just like with people when you look at the face, look into the eyes you can see the personality. BMW still has unresolved personality issues, but with these concepts I can see some hope for the future.
looking like the previous X2 side view
I totally agree - they nailed it with new front end design then messed it up - why????
futuristic design with mid-century modern inspiration.
Soon this design language will be known as BMW’s “Beaver” era.
If you want to hetter understand the front design, google BMW 2000. That was one of the first succesfull BMW‘s car back in the days.
