This is something only a car enthusiast understands. "Non-car people" literally can't relate. In their defense it does seem like way too much work for some milk but that's entirely missing the point. Great cinematography I'm subbed!
It ain't work if you enjoy it. Although, he could've checked if he needed anything else, because if you have drive over the freeway every single time you have to do groceries, then gas costs, mileage and CO2-emission will rise quite quickly...
Really well done mate, that was excellent. The house and his day-to-day life were so uninspiring, mundane and soulless. However the car and his passion behind it gives him an outlet to express himself and be truly free. The feeling he gets when it's just him, his car and the open road makes the daily grind worthwhile. This video captured that, it's a High Distinction from me haha!
this video has been the inspiration for many chocolate milk runs in my miata. after 3 years i still remember this beautiful work of art. one day it’ll be the s2k haha 🤞
I've been watching and rewatching this video every couple months since it released. Now 2 years later, I will be driving 9 hours away in a week to buy an s2k. This is one of my all time favorite car videos. I love the car, editing, and overall feel. I cannot be more excited!
I love cars for the simple fact that you get out of everything and immerse yourself in those minutes of driving where in the middle you're far away from the beginning in the end not worrying about destination or home, no calls, no bs just you and the road.
i used this video years ago for a film essay covering camera techniques and frame composition, its the only 100 that the professor gave out that year. I will forvever love the creative direction of this video, and felt i should tell you years later.
thank you for making this. i lost my s2000 couple years ago due to theft, but this video always bring me back to those memories that felt so long ago. thank you!
I love the subtle change of filters, after the car turned on. Feels like adrenaline starting to rush in, and take over our mood from bland everyday things.
Well shot! You deserve an A on this project. I thought it might be cool to get a perception on how he feels about driving, the increase of adrenaline, the sweaty palms, all the thrill he might feel when he drives. That would be a cool aspect to see in a film like this.
You clearly don't get it. The newspaper represents the events of life, printed on paper to give us the illusion of freezing time. The protagonist knows only has enough time and yet he wastes reading about the past, not looking towards the future. Milk symbolizes motherly love and affection, something the main character drinks to still feel something in an otherwise empty life. Despite knowing how empty it is he still begs for one last drop while knowingly being delusional. The car is his unexplored potential, a sleeping dragon that he could use to escape from the fortress society built around him and that is instead only used as a mean to repeat the vicious cycle our friend lives in. Of course i'm full of shit :D
@@swangmusic you're welcome! Actually the melody just popped into my head and then I remembered hearing it from this video. Checked comments to see if anybody else found but ended up using SoundHound, figured I'd help you out in the process.
This film has been inspiration for doing my shortfilm which is online since Yesterday. Its a mix between a shortfilm and a carporn, like your film. But in a typical german Carporn style. I love to see you :)
This reminds me of myself. Either a very early morning drive for breakfast or and super late night cruise for supper. That's the only way to avoid traffic and enjoy the ride. And as always take the long way home:)
Beautiful video! Makes me miss my blue AP1! Funny thing is that I won't even bother driving more than 200m for a bottle of milk now in a C63. Old age sucks!
Came here from Reddit expecting some garbage but I was curious anyways. Boy was I in for a treat. Your cinematography is amazing. Everything was so smooth and the reflections in the tunnels on the car were amazing. The concept was simple but so effective. Such a beautiful car too. I'll definitely be using this to help explain why I like cars so much. Dropped a sub too. I need more of this 😉
I totally feel you there, sometimes I go out for a Drive and after ripping on one of my cars for a bit I don't want to come back home. It's just an exhilarating feeling that only a car person can appreciate for the most part.
I was almost waiting to see a full carton of milk in the fridge when he opened the door. THAT would have really shown just how worth it that late night drive is.
When you first get a car and you drive to the corner store a couple feet away.
true
Or skip the one which is the nearest and go to the miles away store

Is it me or does his brakes squeak really loud?
I noticed it too, but that s2k is rad
BoostedFusion because Racecar bro..
BoostedFusion high end brakes squeak when they are cold and not warmed up, very normal especially for track cars
It's the crying sound the s2000 makes when it's not at the track.
Aggressive pads
It's normal
The care taken in framing each shot shines in the final product. There were some neat symmetric shots that reminded me of Anderson as well.
Gah. And I love how the contrast changes with the music when the car starts.
