- 'Grai' is a documentary which surrounds a Romany Gypsy family in Worthing. It shows the personal relationship they share with their horse, which lends to the wider relations of the horse to the Romany Gypsy culture.
'Grai' when translated refers to 'horse' in the Romany language.

best film about travelers ive seen on youtube, would love you to make some more like this, peoples minds need to be changed they dont realise that travellers are very different to each other and not all conform to the stereotypes.
This was really good--thankyou to the filmmakers & family for letting us spend time with them. I was particularly impressed with how healthy & content their horse was, & how carefully he put out the fire & replaced the sod at the end. No footprints, which you certainly can't say about modern culture. We are slowly turning the beautiful Earth into a garbage dump--maybe we have a lot to learn from travellers about respect & connection.
I'm proud to be romany gypsy from my dads side.its an honour
kushtie grai, glad to see a real film, about real travellers,
You put this video together realy well and said what needs to be heard by the gorja ppl well done your a credit to our ppl and way of life Thankyou ALL THE BEST FROM US HERE IN NORTH WALES
A. portion of my relatives came to America from England in the 1800’s and I’ve always known who I was. My 3rd great grandmother Lucy Boswell was sister to Gordon Boswell’s (founder of Gordon Boswell Romany Museum) great grandfather Sylvester (Wester )Boswell my 4th great uncle.
Cheers!
He carries the story with such strength and grace!
salt of the Earth such beautiful people with gentle loving and humane hearts xx
Until they come across an old slow old age pensioner
I have much more respect and love for horses than I do for people.
Beautiful family, living a life that I respect and yearn for.
Romany on my Ma's side of the Family, Lucas clan, original Fair people, Coconut shy, helter skelter, to name but a few rides and entertainment provided by decent God fearing people, honest as the days long, kindest hearts to find amongst the different cultures of the day, I've many a beautiful memory of times gone past... Many new friends from the same culture met along the way.. God was in a great mood the day he created Romanys I do believe, Yes, very fond of these fine people I am, and Alwin and fella if you ever get to read this, please, get in touch, it's been to long my dear friends, I'd love to catch up with you.. 🙂 May God bless you all and I hope that everything will be a blessing in every step you take in this grand existence we all call life xxx Thank you for sharing your kindness, have a beautiful day xxx

Thanks! I made a doc recently on homelessness, 'Unseen' - hoping to topple stereotypes by and by...
My grandad dozier gaskin was a horse dealer up Appleby many years ago I heard my mother tell us some beautiful stories and sad stories you could never explain the life of a traveller to a gorger what's in your blood is in your blood something they will never understand no matter what you say because it ain't there way of life and the wagon and horse is one of the most beautiful sights you will ever see just to hear the horses hoofs is beauty on its own
Great piece of film.
Thank you for sharing. We were living in England in 2000-2001 and saw Travellers along the roads with their horses. When we returned State side, we sent three on ahead and now have a small herd. Exceptional people breed exceptional horses. They have captivated many in the US. Thank again.
I have never met a Gypsy in my life but I understand about 25 percent of Romani words. From Hindi and Rajasthani. ek, do, trin, hiv, tati, nak, gabbhini and so on.
Roma purity codes are same as ours in India. Sara Kali is our Goddess kali. Names like Panna(female) and Bihari(male) used by Gypsies until 18th century are Rajasthani too.
Our lost pra and pena.
shree prakash Loya we are not from india we settled in india long time ago but we immigrated to inda from israel . jews have same laws like ours , we got only little similarities to india .

Beautiful. I feel a soul connection
My pleasure - the culture is a gorgeous one!
Thank you for that,I really enjoyed your film the Giorgios should be made to watch things like this in Schools, they might learn something how peaceful and easy to get along with the Romani people are I love the Austin Cambridge my Grandad had that very same vehicle he has since died some 23 years ago I miss him every day he was a General Dealer iam part Romany myself but I like to think iam more Romani than Giorger as my Grandad taught me the love of the countryside to live off the land too.Cushti Bok to all
Such a great video. Thank you for doing this!
Irish travellers are not romani.
Irish travellers are travellers.
Romani are of Indian diaspora race.
I would like to talk to you about this as I'm Romany gypsy blood line my grandfather and I don't know much about my history as all my family have passed away
Left iIndia 1500 years according to science of Genetics. Gypsies are mixed of Indians,Midleeasterners and Europeans but this mix mutated in such extend that gypsies are basically genetic island so Gypsies are not Indians not Midleeasterners not Europeans we are ethnic group on our own
Your horse is beautiful. Be proud. I so admire.
More should be shared about the different cultures, certainly!
NZ loves horses and I travelled 2000 kms in 1972 around the country with Bowtop I built and 21 year old pregnant Clydesdale... ..being the first in 25 years, I was treated like royalty!!
Thank you for putting your story on this site. You have a lovely family and you are a better singer than me. I would love to write and record a song with you about me being born under bricks and mortar and what I have missed. If you go on youtube--- please welcome me home this Chrismas, I have half a dozen video's on to watch I hope you like them.I think we will meet one day.

Very interesting. I only recently heard about Travelers and Gypsies. This is the first (but not the last) video I have watched.
wonderful
Beautiful vid lovely horse got one like him for wedding present off my pap from Collinses from out of Kent
Thanks... a horse for a wedding present - nice!
Thanks for this video, proper kushti! Glad we still embrace our culture:)
fantastic contribution to the true story of the gypsy community, if only there were more videos like this on youtube, however there's such along way to go to correct and all the misconceptions associated with gypsy people, wish the gorja people would educated themselves before opening their mouths.
I have traveled to several places around Ireland -both driving by myself and with a friend doing the driving. I had the opportunity to meet and talk with some Irish travellers -mostly women, and they were so helpful giving me directions because I was a bit lost and they were so kind and genuine. What a loving people!! I felt they have been so misunderstood for very long.
Thanks, Peter.... I truly love the culture.
Seems like the more natural way of living
I agree with the last thing that was said on this video. That it did no harm to use common ground and leave it as it was when they move on. But unfortunatley this is not something I have ever witnessed. I thought your video was great and it gave a good impression of gypsies. This was important to me as I live just down the road from Irish travellers and my experiences of them have left me with very little respect for them. Thank you
Thanks for sharing......
Captivating indeed! Hope the herd is doing well. Thanks for your support.
Loved true Romany reminds me a my family and me daddy

they don't look like Romani because Romani from india
Thank you for sharing...! Some people command respect, some don't - there are indeed all sorts around us... :)
what a lovely family opre roma
I am Irish and was brought up in Ireland. There was a family of Gypsies that stayed for a while close to my Aunt members of the same group stayed close to us. They were an asset to the community as they worked along side the farmers and gave that much need extra labour, during the summer. They spent money in the local Village and when they left there was no sign that they had ever been there. So please stop bashing the Irish Gypsies. My experiences were of good families. There is room in this world for all of us, dreadful boring if we were all the same.
respect indeed!
Thanks!
I reckon they generally do get on but their cultural heritage is very different, and they are aware and do value the uniqueness of their culture.
kooshti divvus moro kolega, moro prahal! everything very well said - great video! keep up the good work! te aves baxtlo moro prahla! Adrian

Thanks! I do wish for more people to understand and appreciate their culture and heritage.
Hey, thanks for your comments. I am not of Romany Gypsy heritage so I will refer your question to someone from the culture. :)
A Romani is not like a lot that we see today they are genuine people and very few now x
I am gipsy ❤
Nice vid!
@3thebrudas Most Traveler culture is based on family & clan but some weaker clans of all kinds band together on mixed sites. Its very complicated because Travelers will only mix with other Travelers, others still wont even class you as a Traveler unless you are still traveling & can point to generations of ancestry. Generally the oldest Romney Gypsies mix with Irish Pavees but im not too sure about the newer Rom & other European Gypsies. Its complex a lot of feuding goes on...
Did he do the voice over for the black saint song
fantastic that. will look out for them when i move to sussex.....
Thanks!
Thanks loads!
You can't be a Alien on the planet you are born on....PERIOD !!!!!!

Is that a traveller name ? le bas ?
whats the song your singing ?
what's the name of the song around 8:50 - 9:00 ?
So people no gypsies are not traveller.these people are gypsies and originate from india.travellers are irish and originate from ireland .they are to different ethnic groups. Good and bad in both like rest of world .so when ya bump into one before you ask are they gypsies.wait for the accent.irish accent is traveller english accent is gypsy
Their styles are just like people do India, taking shoes outside the house.
A lot of our customs are the same
💖🐴🐎
anyone know if romany gypsies and irish travellers get along or work together? By the way great upload!
Hey - its Damian's personal concoction!
👍👍👍👍👍
