When I did the cage in my xj I started with a s&w prebent cage and also added to it. Definitely the way to go in my opinion especially with it being my first ever experience with a roll cage.
Thumbs up, soft metal on our WJs...looking forward to seeing the end product...hopefully you return interior as much as possible or do a nice mod job...keep turning that wrench...one love
I'm from the west coast, in 2010 I rode a bicycle from CA to the Mississippi River and back , I had never heard of that game before and one day I saw a sign that says " corn hole competition" . Well I was shocked , because where I grew up , a corn hole is your pooper . So naturally I'm thinking why the hell would these people be having a corn hole competition? When they really want to have a beanbag toss?
Welding galvanized, zink plated hardware, and other such metals is no joke. My dad died at 64 and had emphysema from such welding. He had it for a decade before he passed from it where he could not breath.
You should do a series where you take out a newbie that just bought their first off-roader, who also lives in Tennessee and knows nothing about cars, but really wants to learn and teach them the basics of off-roading hands on, and take them out on their first off-road day and how to prepare, basic mods that they help you with to learn, and also roadside repairs if they’re total novices. *cough cough me cough cough*
i remember ordering this kit from them for an xj back in 2016. had to rebend and renotch all sorts of tube but came out nice in the end. idea was to save time and make this job profitable but it ended up being everything but that.
Just a heads up on the welding galvanized problem I've been welding galvanized boat trailer for years have never had a problem just drink milk something in the milk neutralizes it and you never get sick old school welder telling me that back when I was in my teens I'm in my fifties now and it's yet to give me a problem I hope that can help you out
This is cool. If that’s d&c extreme from Colorado Springs I own the zip from one of their fabricators that originally made their Zheng cage. Cool guys they do great builds. Hopefully you got one of their “got flex?” Stickers
Fun video! I'm sure I should be putting one of those in the Fun J too : D Maybe next year at EJS we'll both have cages for Pritchett again LOL. I wonder how much that will make it feel more tippy?
If you would like to have the inner cage welded completely drill a hole the size of the tube through the floor pass the bottom of thr cage through the hole then put the plate between the cage and the floor
I wish I would’ve known when you went to the Jeep event I would’ve brought the birds bye so you can see them again I live just on the outskirts a Morristown
@@edwardcokley9224 For a couple years, I built trailers from repurposed galvanized steel. Drinking milk helps. Also, a respirator seemed to help. I still would not recommend welding galvanized. It stinks. Just like welding radioactive metal. It stinks. That's another story.

It’s not the first ever. Come on matt do some research. Rock hard 4x4 made a bolt in cage for wjs for years! This cage also has terrible A pillar legs.

Rosette weld is a plug weld. Fillet weld is basically a corner joint.

Great stuff as usual…I’ve been involved with building one exo-cage and I found it very challenging.
Someone been watching colt lol. New shop tool will be a big help.
Love that WJ! Great vids as always! I look forward them every week.
The goal is being able to roll it down the hill, flip it back over and keep on jeepin, right?
Your new shop already has a crack in the floor!
Rosette weld = plug weld... Rosebud is a oxy/acetylene torch for heating large areas..
It’s the gas FUMES that catch fire, not the liquid!😮
Nope I set the liquid on fire
Harbor Freight has these things called welding blankets 😉
Thank you for the video worried about you guys welding around the gas tank, but have fun rebuilding the shop lol 😎👍
Josh’s Bumble is coming along great, can’t wait to see the rest!!😃
Just a suggestion, but a stich weld when you plate sheetmetal is less likely to break out.
Seems like i read that somewhere 🤔
Matt's definitely rubbing off on Josh, ask me how I know...
It's them shop slip-ons, that's how I know 🤣🤣🤣
No, no.... it's the socks. Dad joke at its finest.
Don’t knock it till you try it!

Rosette weld is another name for your plug weld.

We called galvie welding sent "the zincies." And the handles are what we call the "Oh $hit" bar...lol.
Working On a 2003 wj Right now Replacing Entire cooling package

El accidente, no bueno.
I believe plug welds are also known as "rosette" welds.
How much does a suffered like this cost? I have the same Jeep O1WJ.
very good video, very informative I like it when you give reasons why you do things a certain way because of your past experience.
A group of Hawks is called a kettle! The more you know 😂
Family of hawks = a kettle, a boil, or a cast😊
They are called a kettle or sometimes referred to as a pot or a cast of hawks.😂
The bird is the word... bird bird 🐦 🐦⬛
How can I get my hands on one of them kits for my wj?
Fun video! I'm sure I should be putting one of those in the Fun J too : D Maybe next year at EJS we'll both have cages for Pritchett again LOL. I wonder how much that will make it feel more tippy?
Probably doesn’t help the ability but it makes it safer if things go wrong!

Matt, thank you for not letting us hear the 12 gauge blast. That bird was annoying though.
Think crows are referred to as a murder
Owls are a parliament
And hawks I think are a kettle
Lmfao I'm a Crab 😂😂
Does yours blocke the glove box from opening?
What’s those big steel beams that’s in the corner of your shop for?
I wish I would’ve known when you went to the Jeep event I would’ve brought the birds bye so you can see them again I live just on the outskirts a Morristown
They lift a house like that to put a full height foundation under it. Doubling your square footage and giving you a basement/garage.
Are you painting it?
Looks like you cut your pinky finger in the same spot I sliced mine like a fish
Rosetta plug weld
Got to drink milk when you weld galvanized
Is there truth behind this? I've heard it from another welder probly 15yrs ago
@@edwardcokley9224I’ve also heard that potato slices over your eyes help at night.

What's going on with the 24 hour Hell challenge
Use small ratchet straps to hold it together
What is that called? "The REAR SPREADER " hahahehe 😅😂🎉
Nice
Oh yea need to be extra careful with Galvinized metal it could be a trip to the hospital. I knew someone that happened to.
really cool WJ. I've wanted to get one but the mixed reviews of reliabilty scare me off.
whats up with the sammy in the back???
thats the sami from the VERSUS challenges
Why no 24 hour Hell and Back 2023?

"Kettle" of hawks.
There's a new idea ( past 20+ years) called a welding blanket..
Doing my wife’s 2000 WJ
major pain in the ass, but would have ensured the dash still comes out before welding that bar in
Nice elevator music!
Build me a exotic cage for my wj too
exotic huh??

Can you guys build a cj7 or cj5 rock crawler
There is this brand new thing called google maps that will show you the route and the expected travel time..... just sayin'
What does WJ stand for? Womans Jeep?🤔
Can you dog get its own youtube channel ??? 😄
It’s not the first ever. Come on matt do some research. Rock hard 4x4 made a bolt in cage for wjs for years! This cage also has terrible A pillar legs.
The rock hard wj cage hasn’t been forsale in like 5 years they discontinued it
