Yeah there are estimated to be 3-5 times more empty, investor owned houses per homeless person in the US & Canada. That's per person not per family and many of those properties are huge like this one. Everyone should be mad that the system is setup to funnel wealth and resources to the 1%. Especially with modern technology, we are more than capable of giving everyone on Earth a comfortable, sustainable life. But capitalism is based on making profits for the wealthy not based on actually providing anything useful for everyone else. Just look at all the wealth created off of scams, junk products, and Wall Street gambling that is hurting people, not helping anyone but the wealthy. Socialism is the only way forward. Every worker should have share of ownership and democracy in their workplace. That's all it fundamentally means is giving people democratic control over the place where they spend the majority of their lives.
He's definitely an explorer, the feeling that is worse to me than being scared, is witnessing vandalism and evidence of copper theft in these properties, shame on the people who damage and disrespect, what is there state of mind to do these things to such beautiful properties and areas. I have great respect for others like myself who explore just for the curiosity and knowledge, we are basically documenting the disappearing history.
The location and aspect is amazing, the daytime views over the water and the night sky with virtually no light pollution. I like a lot of the internal stone and brick wall colours, I was waiting for the date to be mentioned because I thought a lot of the first fix inside already looked dated, the doors, woodwork and design ideas, construction stopped in 2007, nowadays it would additionally be fully cabled out for data, CCTV, a sound system, security system, ambient mood lighting. From the air the architecture looks very art-deco 1930s Moderne, the curves, lots of glazing and a smaller room on the flat roof. I'm sure eventually somebody will make this property work, , but will need a redesign inside, new ideas and a healthy budget.
Really great footage, some of the best I've seen. I'm working on a 3d model of this place, and this helped a lot, as so much footage out there is too dark to make sense of. You're almost as big of a legend as the guys who found actual blueprints of the main and third floors. I feel like I can almost fully piece together floor 2 now.
This property is owned by a Toronto company. It was put up for auction by the city for back taxes. Minimum bid would have been $152,000 but the company paid the $150,000 just in the nick of time.

I live just up the street from this. Its become a urban explorer destination in the last year due to these youtube videos. When this was being built it had a budget of 90 million. And employed about 100 people onsite from engineers to carpenters. Pete was planning on putting a casino on the large island just offshore, hence why there was a (office/retail) portion of the house. The house was essentially written off as a tax loss/buisness loss and Pete is still extremely wealthy. He has a 50$ mill home with a golf course and helipad just outside of town here. His money is made in farming and trucking now. The only thing i could see happening is one of the local mining companies buys it and makes it theyre new corporate headquarters.
Replacing your intro with that drone shot...awesome! The light background music made me feel like I was in a video game exploring a dungeon looking for treasure. Nice work here Dave. Could you imagine what it would look like finished 🤩🤩🤩

But maybe the shots of this will inspire someone or a company. Idk. Thank you for all you do. And taking your time and effort and doing this.
When I saw the title "Haileybury Mansion" I was expecting some mine owners' house built in 1911 during the Cobalt silver boom days, but no --- Peter Grant. What a surprise! Thank you.
@@Valencenliberty Exactly. Its what a lot of construction people do. We had a mansion in our suburb where a guy owned a concrete company. Built a huge house with his "materials" and had his company even invent special concrete shingles he used on the house. He supposedly also had a few of his office people work there. The whole house and a big chunk of his mortgage was a write off. This house is the same thing. Doubt the guy paid more than $5 million for the construction when all the tax write offs were factored in.
Just looks very spooky! I like certain things about the house but honestly the house was not really thought out to well. But Thank you as always for sharing and can’t wait until the next !
Wow, love the brick color scheme! Quite unique... Sorry, waiting out commercial. Ok, back... This is just over the top! Wish we could have seen the waterfall pool in action! Its such a waste! Wow, can I imagine how amazing it would be to live in a mansion like this???? I'd love to have a beautiful home like this. Could probably never afford to finish it all but would give it a heck of a try!!!
That very top floor would have most likely been a look out, the boards over the staircase would have been temporary most likely added as some kind of safety precaution during construction.
Yeah, they're definitely temporary - most of it is just sitting on the stairs. It's just so the workers can get to the high parts above the stairs without needing tall scaffolding or ladders all the time
I absolutely love this house, the quiet, the water, the design.. oh my Goodness! The view is amazing!! It’s not a dump messing up their shoreline!!! I am off to find a multi millionaire to marry so he can complete this house for us!!! :))💝
wow how sad a mansion like this abandoned like that, so i prefer medium sized houses to not be abandoned. i'm brazilian i loved your fantastic channel and i already wrote on your channel too. a mansion like this cannot be abandoned at this level anything must have happened there, he studies the history of that place, he may have been murdered, or he may have a haunting index. couple separation, and nobody wanted the house can only be that issue 👍 Here in Brazil the man or woman stays with the house, more often it is the woman who stays with the house. very tasty hug very tight for you my beautiful fabulous and one more thing take great care of these abandoned places not the question of being abandoned or a terrible accident can happen. always let friends and family know where you are in case something happens, warning is the best protection of all. good morning, good afternoon and a great night be divine 🙏👍❤️😍🤗🥰😘😇😱🇧🇷🇺🇸

I wonder if the contractors and workmen actually got paid? 😔
The most amazing beautiful house I've ever seen
Replacing your intro with that drone shot...awesome! The light background music made me feel like I was in a video game exploring a dungeon looking for treasure. Nice work here Dave. Could you imagine what it would look like finished 🤩🤩🤩
And also, that raccoon bit...🤣🤣🤣
Loved the intro as well! Pretty creative!
thank you, I'm glad you noticed that intro change
Wow!!! What more can you say? Just Wow!!!
yes WOW
I think those beams r support beams. I loved your racoon voice.!! You nailed his mood !!😄😇🙏🦝
They ate but they are to heat the floor too that why are the bottom of the beam it was a open design
Such a shame it wasn’t finished, fantastic project, love the architecture and materials.
I'm new here. I just wanted to say. Thank you for taking your time and effort. To give us this. Thank you. I thought it was beautiful and the music fit perfectly. It is sad it was not finished. But maybe the shots of this will inspire someone or a company. Idk. Thank you for all you do. And taking your time and effort and doing this.
i love this place imma go visit it for the first time in a couple days
Its beautiful shame it's just not being lived in. What a palace !! Wonder what the finishing touches would of looked like
I was hoping to find pics online of the designs but no luck
When I saw the title "Haileybury Mansion" I was expecting some mine owners' house built in 1911 during the Cobalt silver boom days, but no --- Peter Grant. What a surprise! Thank you.
It would be awesome to actually have seen it finished, probably wouldn’t even look like the same place, I wish people wouldn’t vandalize as well
love that view i could just sit out there and drink my morning coffee
Yeah you can do that without this dump as well
Really cool explore I loved it!!! :)
hey thanks
Best video ever. Thanks for showing us around. When I get up that way again. I should check it out. Breathtaking views!!!!
19:38 It seems to me that this section of the building was office space for the guy's company.
Which makes it a tax write off?
@@Valencenliberty Exactly. Its what a lot of construction people do. We had a mansion in our suburb where a guy owned a concrete company. Built a huge house with his "materials" and had his company even invent special concrete shingles he used on the house. He supposedly also had a few of his office people work there. The whole house and a big chunk of his mortgage was a write off. This house is the same thing. Doubt the guy paid more than $5 million for the construction when all the tax write offs were factored in.
Yes, it was. It was to be the head office of his company that's why half it looks like a office complex.
This is in my hometown so sad but great place for highschoolers to skate and smoke🤙
You show the best places your not all about showing off 💞
thank you
Yeah... The yacht wouldn't be able to fit in that boat garage, yet, Very great building and history about the building!!!
Why did it not get completed, Maybe I missed that part I don't know ?
his business ran into financial problems
Apparently he spent to much on the house.
You can read up on the history of Grant Forestry Inc.
2009 crash took what was left of his money.
Awesome video! Thanks for the tour , dam shame hopefully it gets finished
It's like an airplane hangar. I can't imagine living there.
Just looks very spooky! I like certain things about the house but honestly the house was not really thought out to well. But Thank you as always for sharing and can’t wait until the next !
I totally agree!
Dam already heard him say "Guys" 4-5 times and the video only got to 3 mins ... Ugh BRO STOP ALREADY THO ty ;)
New subscriber. I came across your channel and I am glad I did. You are a AWESOME narrator! I enjoyed the tour, music and more.
Wow, love the brick color scheme! Quite unique... Sorry, waiting out commercial.
Ok, back... This is just over the top! Wish we could have seen the waterfall pool in action!
Its such a waste! Would love to see it completed. Could be converted into a resort if zoning is possible. Oh, the possibilities for someone with 💰
yes it would have been amazing to see it with the water features!!!!
@@Freaktography The photo with the light reflecting on the wood work (guessing) gave the most amazing bronze glow!
Sad part is that there is hardly any property tax being paid due to the unfinished state, our little town could use the tax money for sure.
I’m from here. It really is sad though I’m sure someone from the area will buy it soon 🥰
wow gosh almighty that is one huge mansion, so factory like!!!
haha yes massive
Greetings from the netherlands Europe..... keep posting cool video's....thank you
16:01 - think that top room isn’t an attic but an observatory. Looks like light pollution would be minimal, so star gazing would be absolutely incredible!
I enjoyed the video. Didn't care much for the house but you did a good job of exploring it. Thanks for sharing.
That house is like a maze. I would have gotten lost.
the natural light is stunning
Is it for sale, can the original plan for it be taken up by a new owner.?
Wow, can I imagine how amazing it would be to live in a mansion like this???? I'd love to have a beautiful home like this. Could probably never afford to finish it all but would give it a heck of a try!!!
That very top floor would have most likely been a look out, the boards over the staircase would have been temporary most likely added as some kind of safety precaution during construction.
ahh good point
Yeah, they're definitely temporary - most of it is just sitting on the stairs. It's just so the workers can get to the high parts above the stairs without needing tall scaffolding or ladders all the time
I absolutely love this house, the quiet, the water, the design.. oh my Goodness! The view is amazing!! It’s not a dump messing up their shoreline!!! I am off to find a multi millionaire to marry so he can complete this house for us!!! :))💝
wow beautiful light beautiful place imagine if it was finished why didn't they finish it the raccoon was funny ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
Awesome explore Thank you
wow how sad a mansion like this abandoned like that, so i prefer medium sized houses to not be abandoned. i'm brazilian i loved your fantastic channel and i already wrote on your channel too. a mansion like this cannot be abandoned at this level anything must have happened there, he studies the history of that place, he may have been murdered, or he may have a haunting index. couple separation, and nobody wanted the house can only be that issue 👍 Here in Brazil the man or woman stays with the house, more often it is the woman who stays with the house. very tasty hug very tight for you my beautiful fabulous and one more thing take great care of these abandoned places not the question of being abandoned or a terrible accident can happen. always let friends and family know where you are in case something happens, warning is the best protection of all. good morning, good afternoon and a great night be divine 🙏👍❤️😍🤗🥰😘😇😱🇧🇷🇺🇸
That Residence would of been exquisite if finished. Great video.
Mother Nature owns that mansion, the people just don’t know it yet!
The materials and workmanship is exquisite!
That "dump" is worth more in its current state than most people posting comments could afford...
Sad it has so much potential. The last photo with the Stars was so pretty.
I hate that the explorer calls it a "dump" - This is really a beautiful construction. Very well thought out. Not an eyesore at all. - I'm sure the explorer does live in a dump.
Maya Ozen I’m sure he says that in a manner of speaking because you can clearly see that he likes the place after all.. come on 🤣 why does everyone keeps being upset for nothing.
A stunning place; a stunningly beautiful building! I'm glad he had the dream. I wish he could have seen it through. "After me, cometh a builder. Tell him, I too, have known."
This has gotta be 1 of the nicest places I’ve ever seen
hey thanks
Beautiful video!
You call it a dumb is that because it can never be finished because it really is a very beautiful new look mansion
That place is absolutely over the top, it's a shame the entire place is going to waste. I've watched several of your videos and I enjoy all of them. Thanks dude 👍☮️
To me it has more of corporate office feel than a homely fill
Great explore enormous place, could have been beautiful if completed lots of interesting features.
