One thing that bugged me the most about this squeal is that Anne-marie didn't even get a passing mention , they could have had her appear as a adult and maybe David could have been her son or grandson
Yeah I didn't understand why they didn't do this. I know the actress died in a horrible way. But the character didn't need to be ignored because of this.
I actually enjoyed all 3 All Dogs movies as a kid. Each have problems, but I wouldn't call any of them bad. Although, I still don't get the timeline between 2 and 3.
the Christmas movie takes part as apart of the tv series. the tv series actually ignores the second movie completely. he’s wrong about the 2nd movie being it’s pilot.
I still, to this day, think that the series and of course the Christmas carol is just a series of fever dreams Charlie had. There's no other explaination.
One of the biggest let downs this movie had was Red. He is a very fun villain to watch and his musical number is still an earworm in my head, but I feel that a better choice would have been to make the Hellhound from the first film the actual Big Bad. it would have helped to tie this film to the first one better and the motivation of stealing the horn could still work. Think about it, The Hellhound, by all rights, had a claim to Charlie's soul and was going to take him down to hell, but thanks to Charlie's noble sacrifice and Annabelle's arrival, the Hellhound was denied his first ever soul to torment, so what better way to get revenge on both of them for the humiliation then to have a fallen angel (Carface) steal the horn so they could call down the dogs in heaven to be the hellhound's prisoner. This would also somewhat bring things from the first film around with Charlie saving everyone and being the one to personally defeat the Hellhound and sending them back down and solidifies that Charlie earned his redemption in the first film and re-admittance into heaven and that he is a noble soul. also fun fact about this film, it was a rushed job. apparently the film was set to go into production sometime after the first one, but when Bluth's animation studio went bankrupt it shot the movie in the foot and it had to outsource it's animation to various studios, this is why a LOT of backgrounds look like paintings instead of actual backgrounds or why the designs look a little off. it was all done in a rush to meet the deadline for when the movie was suppose to come out
I guess cause as people we get so excited and desperate we forget some. Charlie was probably gloating around carface as he suffered in heaven. And ill say this movie is alright. Ill take this over hunchback 2
TBH, I really enjoy this movie. Sure it may have a few flaws but nothing's perfect. It's a decent follow-up to one of Don Bluth's most popular films. I can't say the same thing for the TV series 'cause I haven't finished it and don't really plan to. And as for the 3rd film, it's fine.
If they ever a 4K release anniversary of the original All Dogs Go To Heaven and the sequel if they do you hope it include a commentary and behind the scenes and deleted scenes and extended cut of the movies?
I can understand why people would be confused by Charlie forgives carface. Look forgiveness is strange and I have a very limited amount of it. I’ve been betrayed by close friends before and I forgave them because they were being Manipulated by a teacher who was also a bully.
In fairness, the first movie literally ends with Charlie saying with a smile and a wink that he expected Carface to come back. How the hell he actually DID come back is my problem!
I used to love this movie but now everything about it makes me cringe. The new voice cast, Carface going from a violent, sadistic murder to a stupid sidekick to Red, Charlie being all chummy with Carface, the pointless love story between Charlie and Sasha (at least I think it's pointless) I can go on forever.
I used to love this movie equally alongside the 1st, but looking back on it, ugh I just hate it. I don't even consider the 2nd movie canon. It just doesn't compare to the quality of the first (I wouldn't say the first was that great either, but the story and the dark tone is faaar more interesting) . Charlie's character growth in the first is thrown out the window in the 2nd. And the whole point of the first movie is Charlie being a better dog, and accepting heaven at the end. Then in the second movie......Charlie bitches about being in heaven, and in the end he gets a second chance..??! That makes no damn sense.
Not really. He didn't like being in heaven in the first one either. He felt cheated of life because of Carface. Plus, he's still caring for people like he did at the end of the first movie. He's not scamming people, he's just trying to live and get laid.
I think Anne-Marie should had a cameo at the beginning of the movie which they they should had open up at the end of the first movie to going to the sequel
problem with that idea is Anne-Marie would be in her late 60s since the first film was set during 1939 and given what the story was mainly about, I can't see Anne-Marie and Charlie's reunion fitting in the movie, as much as I would also have liked to see them reunite.
@@ShanaReviews I like Dogs Go to Heaven and I also like All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 Wouldn't that be pretty interesting if the ever went back to All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 and did a extended cut of the movie? With extended scene with carface and Sasha had a big fight a fight at the end after red defeat which end end of the fight he tries to kill Sasha and its really brutally what if he try to do it by choking her?
The sequel takes place in 1996, the same year it was released, so 57 years after the original which takes place in 1939. It's the idea that time passes at a different pace in Heaven than on Earth. This explains why the other dogs except for Itchy and Carface aren't featured or even mentioned. It sounds like those who lived their lives and died of old age go to a different place in Heaven than those like Charlie, Carface and Itchy who went before their time. As in it wasn't their time to go. The other reason for all that is that it's a soft reboot. Anne Marie is referenced in the sequel but not referred to by name because that was the producer's way of showing respect to the late Judith Barsi who voiced her and was murdered along with her mother by her father when she was 10. It and many other sequels to Don Bluth's films were made without his involvement. The TV series is also a soft reboot of the sequel with noticeable differences. Charlie and Sasha don't live with David, Itchy is back on Earth and he and Charlie live together in an apartment where they pay Sasha rent. Sasha has taken over the same restaurant featured in the sequel where she sang for a prize and stole some food for David and renamed it the Flea Bite Cafe. Charlie and Sasha are in an on-again-off-again relationship instead of being married like they were at the end of the sequel. Killer is back with no explanation. Red has been replaced by Belladonna who is Anabelle's cousin. Charlie still gambles in the TV series but not nearly as much and is less of a liar but still gets in trouble for it at times. Itchy and Sasha also serve as a conscience for Charlie.
A lot of animated sequels have brighter lighting and colors due to a combination of a lower budget and a lack of courage to be dark when needed. Since the plot and tone in ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN PART 1 didn't really require a dark atmosphere (at least as dark as other Don Bluth movies), the muddy palette felt unnecessary. Therefore, the shinier and more colorful animation in ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN PART 2 didn't bother me. In fact, a lot of the backgrounds are beautiful. They seem like unfinished drawnings, but I'm pretty sure it was a stylistic choice (they resemble paintings) rather than a monetary obstacle. Most of the songs are catchier (which wasn't hard, considering how bad they were in the 1st installment) and the villain is more memorable. Unfortunately, the plot is nothing special and the way in which characters and events from the previous movie are ignored is annoying. *Spoilers ahead!* I'm still trying to figure out why Sasha falls for Charlie, since the movie doesn't show a real reason. Why did she forget about his "miracle kiss"? She had the right to be angry. First film - 3/10 Second film - 3/10 Third film - 1/10
I loved the first one,one of my favorite Don Bluth films. I was never intrested in checking out the the sequels or tv show. I found it very odd Carface became a main character.
Honestly, All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 takes place in 1999 on the same year when Spongebob, Family Guy and Ed Edd n Eddy came out, considering the fact that the film takes place 60 years after the events of the 1st film which took place in 1939 last time I did the math, even tho All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 came out in 1996, 3 years before Spongebob, Family Guy and Ed Edd n Eddy made their debuts on TV.
Oh if you're looking for a forgotten 90s show to review, how about Mighty Ducks: the animated series? It's really good in a cheesy 90s way and I think you'll like it
Wouldn't that be pretty interesting if the ever went back to All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 and did a extended cut of the movie? With extended scene with carface and Sasha had a big fight a fight at the end after red defeat?

I love it
I still think that Burt Reynolds was the best voice of Charlie. I really wished he had reprised the role alongside Dom DeLuis.

I also like the first one the third one tv series and Hazbin Hotel they're golden masterpieces along with Little Nicky.
Or Charlie just didn’t pay attention
It was a good enough film for kids, though Carface's character was rather derailed.

Annabelle: Carface Carruthers u used to be an Angel. Now u betrayed us all, u sold your soul to a cat, and you are wearing a devil suit!
personally i think charlie's voice actor in the sequel is the best fit for his character, but otherwise i agree with your points :D

Here’s a suggestion: This is a pilot episode for a show that was never picked up by Nickelodeon. It’s called Constant Payne.
The writers did Carface dirty in this movie
Ever thought of covering Bartok The Magnificent?

The hell sequence in the original movie fucked me up as a kid lol
That Sequence from the original movie gives me nightmares
Once again I'm suggesting the following:
Nightman
Dracula: The Series
The Collector
Extant
Threshold
V remake
Do one on thomas and the magic railroad
You should review Road Rovers

I haven't seen it fully but it seems below average to me. Not theatrical quality, but something you'll find in the Direct to Video category.
