I test rode one the other day and found standard mode to have sluggish throttle response, but sport mode was cracking. As a tall man the windscreen was too low for me, but the 116 engine was incredible! Ordered one in black with a tall boy seat, can't wait to rack up some serious miles on it!
I test rode all the new 2022 Chiefs along with the Challenger at 2 different demo days...my take on all the Chiefs...Great motors in both the 111's and 116's...Dont really care for the infotainment and riding modes(told the guys i only want it clicked into sportmode so i could ride the hell out of them)....The rode a little stiff in the suspension but thats subjective from person to person...But its too small for me but i think its a great bike for a smaller guy or a woman or somebody who wants a new bike that doesnt want to pay over 20K and is willing to customize it to make it more comfortable for a bigger person...
Good honest review buddy. I’m all Indian but went Harley (heritage) anniversary model. Hate it. Put 30k on a beautiful scout and got spoiled. Be trading that Harley in real soon. Cheers
Good video. I have the exact same SCL. Mine has stage 2 performance upgrade with a Lloyds custom tune. Been ridding cruisers for 43 years and this is my favorite bike to date. It's compact enough for around town and the mountain twisties where I live, but big enough for me (6 ft, over 200lb) for hours on the highway. I purchase a back rest extender / relocator from Ultimate Seats to give my wife some extra moving around room on longer rides. Looking to replace the passenger pegs with adjustable mini floorboards, if I can find some. Ride safe and enjoy the ride.✌️
Great video, do you feel any helmet buffeting? I have the 18.5 freedom windshield and have helmet buffeting, i was suggested to put on fork wind deflectors and should help, i do feel alot of up draft wind coming up by lower gas tanks by inside thigh area. any thoughts would help. thx
I was so tempted to buy this exact same bike.. same color. Its a real beauty. But I ended up getting a Chieftain Dark Horse.. same Blue Slate Metallic color tho.
@@rickiekm Was weird feeling at first. It was as if the bike effortlessly went. It did have some hard start issues when cold. However after the cpu calibrated itself it is running like a stripped arse monkey. I am still running the stock mufflers so some back pressure is still there. Only mods done are cat delete and K&N air filter. I would recommend the cat delete head pipes or the dual exhaust headers that do not have a cat.
Great video, i just purchased a 2023 super chief limited, still just at 300 miles on it. I feel as if the suspension was not as smooth? At higher speeds on highway over 80mph it was shaking, is that normal? Other than the suspension and shakiness at higher speeds (it WAS windy) i love it
We haven't seen any shaking at high speeds, so perhaps you should take it back and have a tech jump on the highway to check yours out. Could be tire pressure, but not sure.
Nice review. You are a good husband to your Bride. Enjoy the riding weather we have left. Riding up to our lake house on Otsego Lake/Gaylord, while I still can. Stay safe❣️
The seat is working out great for an all day ride, but she would llike to add a set of risers to help position the bars better for her reach. The only thing that I would add is some lower wind deflectors to help manage the wind a little better at highway speeds.
@@rickiekm That is really helpful, thank you! When it comes time to upgrade, I’m kind of torn between looking more seriously into the baggers or keeping the lighter bike with more power than the Scout and going with the Super Chief. Also hoping it could come with hard bags. Most of the riding I do is shorter distance. I do like the wind protection the larger bikes offer though. Lots to think about. Thanks!
That's a great question. The bike isn't the problem with those clips, it was the camera that I used for those shots. It sounds like you need to get out there and test ride the bike, because it is a smooth machine.
I was using a 360 camera, and it was waving and shaking all over the place. I really have to find a better way to mount it so that it doesn't wave in the wind.

I have to agree, that 116 is awesome. Hope you get your new bike soon.

I have to agree on your opinion of the size of my wifes bike. It is a bit small for me, but not like a Scout.
@@rickiekmIts great Bike for Her thats for sure...and She will be able to keep up with you on the interstate doing 80mph with that 116...

Most beautiful cruiser being made today in my opinion.
It is a sweet bike.

The fork wind deflectors are a great idea.
I'm in new Zealand, just clicked over 10000ks the other day. I love the bloody thing, for the twisties in nz it's awesome!
Do you have a Super Chief?
Super chief limited in blue, stage 1 pipes and filter.love it

Love the blue.
I found the heat issue to be the catalytic converter. I did a cat delete on my Roadmaster. No more rotisserie heat and you do not need a tune either.
Did you find a reduction in torque after the cat removal?

Indians Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the Hell out of mine.
I have to agree.
What is the comfort level for longer rides (suspension, seat, etc)? Great video! Thanks, Rick!

How would you compare it to the HD Heritage?
The 116 Indian seems to be smoother.
Is that the bike shaking so bad or is that the camera?

I assume you are riding with no gloves to manipulate the touch screen
You can have gloves on while using the touch screen. Working the GoPro is another thing.
@@rickiekm I figured... thanks nice bike !
How did you film the last portion of the video? A drone?
360 camera on a selfie stick
Is that motorcycle really doing all that shaking?
I was curious about that too.
