I reqlly don't know why you didn't show your uncle any live concerts besides that one 'sober'... live concerts are the crown jewels of tool, the Glass House, '98 sacramento (Spiritual healing tour lol), all the progress from concert to concert, the unhuman dances, the 2010's light shows, man it's time for more live Tool! Love yall ❤
Thank you so much for the great input. I think that was exactly what we were thinking to do. We thought it was best to get through the entire diskography so that the live performances can be appreciated as art in it's own right without the extra layer of a song being experienced for the first time. I do like your idea to go through a chronological progression of the concerts. Get ready to SEE more Tool.
@@onetribeproductions4080 I'm ready man! And I've been enjoying your reactions so much. Along with all the synchronicities you've reacted to 'fear inoculum' and 'invincible' right before my first two dentist's appointments in god knows how long (and I was petrified of it), and it may seem ridiculous but you guys pumped me alongside Tool to dive into it and now I'm almost done and the fear is gone. Cheers, looking forward to the rest of the journey with you guys.
I saw a live concert performance of this I think 95 or 98 and he took a break before doing this song to talk about the fact that everybody always got the intention of this song wrong. He's like it's not about f****** somebody up it's about being so mad that you need to scream about it. I think it was partially to calm down the mosh pit that was about to happen.. but I appreciate that he put that out there.he is not condoning violence.. this song is a "tool" for you to rage it out and let it out.
I saw the Lateralus tour and at the end of the show they all came together and hugged each other at the center of stage after a perfect show, these guys are on another level!!
Opiate was the third Album I heard, Aenima being the first. When I first heard these two songs, even as a somewhat angry teen myself, I always thought that Maynard was quite the asshole. My understanding now is that he knew and was joking with the people he was speaking to in the beginning of these songs. Ultimately, I think that whether he was joking or not is irrelevant. What it taught me is to praise the art and not the artist. We all like to put people, whose art or whatever other accomplishment we appreciate, on a pedestal. We have to be able to separate the truth from the one who speaks it, otherwise we become disillusioned. I love Tool, I think its the greatest music ever composed but I don't praise these men. For at the end of the day, they are just men. Praise the truth not the truth speaker.
Diiiiieeeeeee
In a nutshell I'd say Jerk Off is about someone that operates according to the philosophy of "the ends justify the means".
What about You lied?

I think this must have been it in 1998. ruclips.net/video/3Si3J_u6zR0/видео.html

They still do that.... Well Maynard gave high fives....
They did it too in Paris in 2001. They opened with Flood and closed the show with Lateralus. Best concert of my life.
This song is a hidden gem in my opinion
It is a particularly powerful piece.

OK maybe I put Danny Carey on the smallest of pedestals 😬😂🤣😂
