Most of my tutorial videos are in the paid learning library. savvycleaner.com/join I get to explain why we do things the way we do, and then we have quizzes to make sure everybody is cleaning the same way. Often showing is not enough, we have to explain the bad stuff that happens if you go rogue and damage the clients' property. And then what to do if you have employees who go rogue. LOL. It's a bit more complicated. :-)
A small circular pipe brush is perfect for shower and window tracts. Slides under doors perfectly and cleans all side at once. Cleans the sink drains after using the zip it. Make sure tip is protected so it won't scratch. I used a shrink tube protector on tip.
Love the flat head screwdriver! OCD Grandma was known to wrap a rag around a toothpick to clean the crevices on stair steps and spring cleaning the sidewalks.
Great video as always! I just realized I was cleaning this all wrong 🤦♀️I do clean my client's windows and shower door, but this 4 steps are much easier, faster and safer than my way. Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching. It's a simple system. The shower door we clean on ever clean and the window tracks we save for deep cleans, but the process is the same. :-)
Thanks Angela. Very helpful. Some sliding shower doors can be lifted out of the upper track that they roll on. There is a plastic spacer that keeps the doors aligned. That can also be removed. The rollers that the doors travel on can be treated with a water resistant application to reduce squeaking. Take care.
Okay, this is all well and good and very useful information, but I have sliding glass doors with a plastic u-shaped track that points downward, like a lower case n. For the life of me, I can't find anything thin enough or long enough to clean inside it. I have schmutz and mildew I simply can't get rid of without completely dismantling the door from the upper track and removing that gasket. Any ideas?
Have you tried hydrogen peroxide? That will eat the schmutz and mildew by just spraying in the area and letting it sit for a bit. Let me know if it works for you.
Another on point tutorial! I think maintenance is the key to these 2 jobs. Once you really clear the gunk out of the window crevice, for example, you can probably just run a paintbrush or something over at every couple of weeks & it stays clean. My other 2 cents - if you are building a home or remodeling a bathroom and have room, go for walk in shower with no door or shower curtain. You can do one in a pretty small area, the one in my bathroom is probably 4 x 4 with a 1.5 x 2.5' extension for the entrance.
I clean like this every 4 weeks in my house. I have been doing this for 44 years since I have own a home. Doing this your job would be much easier than doing this twice a year. I also spray the sill with a bug spray.
I love this Janice. You are one of the VERY few homeowners that do this task themselves. Most homeowners just wait for the next deep clean from the maid. And I love your tip about the bug spray. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Angela you are so awesome! You have me cleaning my house from top to bottom so much better. Thank you! Do you by any chance have any advice for a plastic seal strip that seals a seamless shower door to the tile? The seal is tight yet a little mold has gotten in-between the area and I can't get anything in between it to tackle the mold.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it! Those are hard to clean, but if mold remover doesn't work or get to it, you might need to change the strip depending on how bad it is.
Great video. What about cleaning the overlap of windows that you either lift up (like in this video) or sliding ones? I don't know why anyone would design windows with overlaps 😒
When it comes to cleaning the overlaps of windows that either lift up or slide, it can indeed be a bit frustrating. However, the design of window overlaps serves a purpose, such as providing better insulation or enhancing the window's structural integrity. To clean these areas effectively, you can start by using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove any dust or loose debris. Then, dampen a soft cloth or sponge with a mild window cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar. Carefully reach into the overlaps and gently wipe the surfaces, being mindful not to apply excessive pressure or force that could damage the window mechanism. You can also use a cotton swab or a soft-bristled brush to access tighter spots. If necessary, refer to the window manufacturer's guidelines for specific cleaning recommendations. While cleaning overlaps may require a bit more effort, it ensures a thorough cleaning and helps maintain the functionality and longevity of your windows.
That was great but didn’t actually answer the question asked. How do you clean the overlapping area in a sliding shower door? Awaiting your response, thank you!
You have to slide the shower door to one side, clean and then slide to the other. If you have a shower that won't allow the overlapping area, you have to lift the door off the track and clean the area and then replace the door in the track.
I can't help but wonder if we have the same shower. Mine is literally impossible to keep clean. It is a stall and the doors attach at the top of the doorway, as opposed to there being a track a smidge lower down for air flow. It's supposed to enclose all the steam, whether or not because some people like a steamy shower or because someone thought this would magically eliminate the need for a bathroom fan, I don't know. All the steam pours out when you open the door so that line of thought obviously didn't work out. The doors overlap by about an inch when both doors are closed, and if you open the doors so the shower can air/dry out, that overlap is even bigger. And you can't slide them past each other to shift what end is covered up. So there is always one part in the middle that never dries out and is impossible to get to to clean. And you need to remove something at the bottom with a screwdriver in order to remove the doors, you can't just lift and pop them in and out like a sliding closet door. It is the bane of my housekeeping chores. I have tried squeegeeing the shower after I use it so at least it's dry inside and I can close the doors to minimize overlap, but there is always overlap and it is never clean. The best I can do to keep it clean is to blast the crevices of door with bleach solution once a week or so after I shower. One of these days a bathroom re-do is in the works - that's really the only solution. The set up is made by Kohler and I think it may have been discontinued and I can only conclude that this is the reason why lol. These places that design such things... they should have to test cleanability and not just how it looks and functions brand new. This was clearly designed by someone who never had to clean a bathroom in his entire life. What's funny is I am told the people who lived in my house when this bathroom was finished, the wife was a real clean freak... can't help but wonder how long it took her to regret this shower choice. I don't know if I would have thought of this when picking it out but it will definitely be on my mind for its replacement.

When it comes to polishing executive desks with luxurious polish, a polish cloth is usually the best option. amzn.to/2MzggH3 This is used for shiny grand pianos and musical instruments. So, no chemicals at all, just dusting and polishing with this cloth. And you'll want to keep it in a bag by itself for this client so you don't cross-contaminate it with other cloths in your caddy that may have cleaning solution on them.

I've been on the phone with manufacturers since early March and many of them who offer COVID priority products have halted production on EVERYTHING to focus on the priority products. Many manufacturers have revamped their entire operations to work around the clock to produce one or two items in demand. It's unnervving - and requires our creativity.
@@AskAngelaBrown I did find a similar brand, not oxo of course. I need to deep clean a shower track for a client, thanks for your tips!
Not sure when you posted about lack of xox brushes on Amazon but I found them On Bed Bath and Beyond and Target (Target was less expensive)
@@judybuffa4969 was during the summer months, and I did find SIMILAR brushes but not OXO track brushes, If they have them at Target, I will hit it up. Thanks Judy!
How does she not have more subscribers‽ smh
+Pluto H Thanks for your vote of confidence in your kind words. I’m glad you’re here and I appreciate you.
You didn’t even address sliding shower doors, which was the question asked. The door you’re cleaning in the video swings open.
Many shower doors do swing open and yes, there is a shower door being cleaned in this video. The same tools are used for shower doors that slide. They key is to use the proper tools and common sense.
All I can hear us Ellen Degeneres 😆 and Dory 🐠
LOL. I love that movie. Thanks for the compliment. :-)
