    The Sylvania H1 bulbs that I used have a rotating notch so you don't have to bend the metal tabs to fit. It was a little hard to clip them back in, but with a little efort they latch. The cover also fits back on.

    My 06 beetle thinks the high beams are on all the time, I assume it's a low current draw issue. I got some in line resistors but they get hot and need air. Not sure how to add them. Any advice is welcome. Tq!

    • @Icanfixit-2
      @Icanfixit-2  4 месяца назад

      I’ve never heard of that before. So you’re using the LED bulb for your high beams as well too? Be sure to check your connector pins to make sure they’re not bent or broken for the headlights. Because if that’s the case, it would explain the excessive heat. You shouldn’t need the inline resistors at all unless you’re doing LED turn signal bulbs. I hope this helps you out a little bit.

    Please advise. Looking to brighten OR upgrade my 2008 vw beetle head lights. LED's seem fine for me.
    I watched your video and will apply the polishing process right away.
    Am I simply replacing the hi and low beam bulbs or do I need to install a light bar in the grill?
    Someone has already installed LED's but they flicker.

    • @Icanfixit-2
      @Icanfixit-2  4 года назад

      carl brodnax you can do the high beam because it throws a wider angle. The projectors can be adjusted to change the beam pattern. The high beam just relies on the reflector.

      Ignacio Alanis if you have a garage, park 10 feet from it and turn your headlights on. You want them to be at least 3.5 feet on the door. If it’s higher than that, lower them with the off white adjustments on the side of the headlights.

      Beetle headlight buckets are a hostile environment for electronics/optics. LED bulbs may be "waterproof", but water will get inside the assemblies (it's just a matter of time) and ruin them from the inside, which is not repairable. Look in the headlight buckets - that dirt and grit you see wasn't put there at the factory. The dust covers are sealed - and essential!
      Best thing to do would be to drill openings in the dust covers precisely over the fans and seal them against the fan bodies with silicone grommets or heatproof foam (think tiny pool noodles) to keep the road gunk out. Even then, it's an extremely tight fit once installed.

    • @Icanfixit-2
