This is exactly what I was looking for to use on a little pair of doll socks! I can't wait to try it. I like your smooth and sensible directions.. and no annoying music in the background.
@@nimbleneedlestwo You just mede me very happy!! I have always wanted to learn that because the edge looks so pretty on socks, but haven't found any tutorials in Finnish language and didn't know what that is called in english so I never learned it.
Great cast on Norman! Thanks for another great tutorial! I agree about twisting the stitches when adding them to the left needle. So much smoother! Have a wonderful week!😀
Love it! I would be interested to see how to do a picot bind off -- maybe it's super similar, but I usually knit in the round so bind offs don't come as easily to me :)
I'm using this as a cast on for a pair of socks I knit with a US 0 - 2.00mm how many needle sizes up do you think I would need to be able to get it over the foot? Thanks Norman Love your videos! 🥰
knitting doesn't work like that. Only a swatch can tell you how many you need to cast on :) (setting aside that you didn't tell your shoe size or the yarn you are using) If someone tells you to cast on 96 stitches using this yarn and 2.00 mm needles, that's your failsafe indicator that they know nothing about how knitting truly works.

Wow ! This is great, I often knit a picot bind-off, but never tought about a picot cast-on. Thank you so much !!!
awesome. Yeah..and i mean since you already know the picot bind off this will be a breeze as it's essentially the same :)
@@nimbleneedlestwo yes in fact the main difference is the live stitches you leave on the needle.
Thank-you, Norman. I've crocheted picot edgings, but have never tried knitting one, let alone a cast-on. It will go on my To Try list.
Thank you so much Norman for teaching this. I must try this on my next pair of socks. It will make so beautiful edge.
oh yeah, definitely...if you click on the link you can see another option that might also be suitable for socks.

glad, I am not the only one who thinks so! :)
I do a little variation... I cast on 4 stitches, and bind off 2.
That gives me a one stitch separation between picots, which I prefer.
This was very helpful and I am going to adopt what I saw you do and apply it to the pattern I am planning to kit. Thank you.
Thank you Norman! I'll definitely try it!
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you 💜
Thank you for a great easy to follow video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much, Norman!
you are very welcome, Gail!
Well explained, Thank you.
Glad it was helpful, len!
Nice. I've been looking for a fun border. 🙂
Very helpful! Thanks so much. Tammi, Wool and Wine Podcast. Cheers! 🧶🍷

Is this suitable for knitting socks cuff down? Do I need to make changes to my normal co number? It would be so sweet as a co for lace socks. ❤
definitely..but you probably will have to adjust things.then again if you are looking for a cute look, a bit off "flare" might actually look better.
@ thank you. I‘m looking forward
What do you do he first stitch?
not sure I understand this question. I showed all stitches, including the first stitch?
I want to knit a picot border all around a project, not just cast on or bind off. Could you please show me how? Please and thank you in advance.
right now, I don't have the time to do that. sorry :(
A pattern I am going to knit calls for this cast on
Excellent!
thx for watching, Joyce!
This looks like the stretchiest cast on of all the "stretchiest cast on's"
well..in a way yes. But it's not stretchy..it just creates a lot of fabric! (tho that can sometimes mean the same thing)
