Thank you for posting this. I feel very educated. I'd also like your opinion on finding a perfume (or something similar) with the following ingredients and notes: Top: Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin Mid: Caramel, Vanilla, Labdanum Dry: Tonka Bean, Sugar Cane, Musk
Tonka done right can be magnificent, and done wrong it can mediocre. Great to hear what you're thoughts are on these. Tonka imperial is my favourite use of the note 👑
In cooking Tonka bean is similar in taste and smell to the Tahitian Vanilla, it's a vanilla with a licorice after taste. Definitely slightly bitter quite strong compared to Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar which is softer, rounder and slightly tart.
Fragances are one of the few things that give me peace of mind & comfort during this strange times & Tonka imperial was love at first smell. Thank you Sebastian.
I love the sweet gourmandish quality of the tonka, but I had no idea coumerin came from the bean!! and also the different directions that it can take.. It never ceases to amaze me this world, how the ingredients can be taken in so different directions and create different accords...
I am so happy you mentioned Myrrh and Tonka! That was my former signature- I wore it solid for 1 year. But for me I thought it had pretty awesome longevity..
I love JO MALONE MYRRH & TONKA, it was the myrrh in the name that caught my attention when I saw it in the shop, I have not seen it reviewed before, so that was great! Naxos is on my list of samples to order.
Sebastian this video is nice one. One sweet gourmand that should have been on this list is Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDP.... tonka bean and almond is beautiful with leather.
Excellent Video! I must say I am growing attached to tonka. Specifically certain Fall/Winter scents with Tonka/Oud/Ambers. They impart light animalic scents that grow sweet and chocolaty. Great stuff, Great Vid!
I love so many of the fragrances on this list! I have to thank you for introducing me to the tonka bean. I have always been drawn to it as a note, but until you educated me, I didn't realize exactly what I was being drawn to! In this list PDM Oajan is my absolute favorite followed very closely by Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka and Dior Feve Delicieuse!

Very cozy & comforting note . Oajan , Dior feve & Guerlain are my favorites from this list & if I may add lutens arabie on the dry down is just fabulous tonka . Can’t wait for this heat to go away so we can enjoy these type of fragrances . Great video habibi !

I love wearing tonka fragrances during rainy season. SF F black is pretty much tonka and black pepper, Mandarina Duck Black is also tonka and citrus. They're cheap but great. ❤️
Some fantastic ones on here Seb. The tonka in AHSx is so strong on my skin. Ditto with Pure Tonka - which I usually layer with some incense. Bois Dore is awesome too.
OAJAN and FD by Dior are really good (personally prefer Hermes's Ambre Narguile). Also love musc ravageur, Shalimar, vintage addict and so many others.

Pure eVe by The Different Company is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women and men. Pure eVe was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Celine Ellena. Top note is Aldehydes; middle notes are Mimosa, Flax and White Rose; base notes are Candied Almond, Musk, Sweet Notes, Dried Fruits and Cedar. IT smells like guarlain tonka. Sebastian, do you know thuis parfum?

Hello Sebastian. Have you tried "Majaina Sin" by "The Different Company"? It has predominantly Vanilla, Tonka, Ginger, Cinnamon, Amber, Chestnut cream and Maple Syrup. It makes me feel like Christmas. I think you should get your nose on it!

Tonka was my favorite note for a long time, I even discovered 2 perfumes by zara that were awesome featuring tonka: ganache tonka and tonka wood, both of them discontinued
Personally it's probably my least favorite note period 🤣🤣 there are stand out compositions like tonka imperial, feve delicious and some older fouger compositions, but it is so overly used in so many fragrances, especially in designers largely in part of it being probably the cheapest way to inject large amounts of sweetness into the scent.

I have come to adore tonka in fragrances. My favorite is Hermes Vetiver Tonka, which is two faves in one.
