Hello! I’m so happy I found this video, it was the only one that shown how to deeseble and reeseble this cutterbar. I have to change a barring for the big gears and now I think I know how, thank you very much! Special thanks from Johan all the way from Sweden 🇸🇪
I hope you and your son count your blessings every day for the relationship you have as father and son. Your videos give us hope for the way life should be. The fact also that your parents are alive also to enjoy what they have helped to create on the farm. Thank you for sharing your days with all of us.
I am thinking that if they deck it it will change the overall length and it will no longer fit and seal correctly. kind a like doing crown molding . Just a thought
Awesome video as usual. I hope the weather plays the game for your hay season, we had about 2 weeks worth of hot sunny weather the rest of the season was rain either once or twice a week or every other day, suffice to say alot of hay we did got wrapped in plastic.
Boy that 1st 60 acres has made you work for it Wes, sure hope you have the kinks worked out now and the remaining 940 odd acres goes a lot smother. On the bright side looks like X Box have found the answer to Tims crack problem. LOL. Cheers mate.
WesternWi Farmer Tim is the result of not handing out participation trophy's someone not afraid to work for what they want and respects his and other peoples property. he has values because he was raised with values
After a year of replacing knives and shear hubs on my jd 930 discbine,i set the float at about 40 lbs and angled the cutterbar back a touch and then cut all my hay at 10mph.After the fields were chopped off ,I went with a 4 wheeler pulling a cart and pick all those stones. They were easy to see because there would be tall grass around the stone because the discbine would jump over it.Now I only have to do this on new seeding acres every year. I haven't blown a shear hub in years and I even get to reverse the knives!
Otto Seeger ditto on the stone picking and getting the cutterbar attack angle level or tipped up. How did you measure the 40 pounds of pressure/weight?
Shorten the turnbuckle or hydraulic cylinder in the middle on top of the deck.Just grap the front side on one end with one hand and lift-we have 50 lbs ih weights and i just compare lifting the header to that weight- just make the head light to lift so the head bounces over the stones and heavy enough so it stays on the ground to cut your hay and after you pick the rocks loosen yr springs back to specs
Teresa is doing a great job running the camera. Unfortunately we can't see her pretty face when she is behind the camera. Les Wes, and more Teresa in front if the camera. Good job Tim. It is so exciting to see a young man working so hard as a farmer. Wish you all the best!!
Weather not cooperating is a huge pain in the ass in the hay business. We have had good haying weather in northeast Nebraska and we should be wrapped up with first cutting today! Soonest we've ever been done with the 1350 acres of alfalfa we put up. Hoping to get 3 more cuttings so bring on the rain.
They are "X-Boxers". I always run my disk toward each other. Outside turn toward center of cutter bar and next disk turn into those disk or opposite direction of the outer disk and continue this pattern toward center with one odd ball. This keeps the disk from moving the crop toward the center before in goes over rollers or tether which you have.
Brian Rides Red Its not just John Deere it's all of them... Darn parts handlers around my erea i call to make sure just certin people are working before i even make a trip their anymore...
RED ROOSTER i know what you mean.... there is a case dealer near us that i stopped going to for parts because the parts guys are clueless. the sales steam and shop service are good but the parts counter is a joke....
Wes before you go to the trouble of tearing that drive box apart check the machine surfaces for level/true with a machinists's straight edge. You might be able to perform your repair with a flat mill files and bench stones. FWIW I've got some straight edges you can use .
Working with any parts and service department, it really is all in the attitude. You go in with a bad attitude, you'll likely get a bad attitude back. In might not be a "bad" attitude, but you'll likely get a "polite" attitude and nothing more. So swallow your ego and go in with the attitude of "I'm having a problem with this and I need your help." People like to feel like they're helping a fellow human being and not being talked down to...
I didn't know those cutterbars were in segments. I had a Kuhn 3 point disc mower and the cutter bar cracked on it and lots in this area did. The Kuhn company does not have anything I want now. I have a NH now that is segmented but not fluid filled. If buying again now I would buy a Krone.
ih1206 exactly! we were out trying to load some frozen dirt with a 1920 and snapped the loader frame so i was curious if i could even get it, sure enough top of the page they had it.
Tim..... I noticed the drum spinning behind the cutter bar. What does this function do? Is it to help "crimp" the hay to help in drying? Also how often do you blow the machine off. Noticed a lot of crap behind the side shield.
Johnny Holland instead of crimping rolls that is called a flail conditioner and it basically scuffs the hay breaking the waxy coating on the hay. works good in grass type hays but clovers and alfalfas it tends to break the leaves off if you run it to aggressively
Union Farm Equipment and Greenway Sales are the two companies I recommend for treating you like a valued customer. I am curious. Do you bother to put a couple of tablespoons (quantity) of moto-honey into the gear box to help lubricate those gears?
Hey Wes, You might want to check out Abom79's channel (Adam Booth). He might be able to help you out with a 'validity check' as to whether or not your thoughts on machining that box is viable. Another source might be Keith Fenner, as well.
Somebody teach me please. I noticed that when Wes removed the part that the oil seemed thin. Is it hydraulic oil and is the bar self contained or does the hydraulic oil circulate through the tractor system? I would have thought that the 'turtles' had gear oil in them.
jbmbanter I'm not sure what oil it uses I would think a gear oil but like my skid steer in the final drive it uses 10w30 so whatever JD recommends but I do know that the cutter bar is an enclosed self contained system. on my NH discbind each module is self contained and uses heavier gear oil the benefit of this is if a gear breaks its contained to one section and not able to float around to cause catastrophic damage throughout the entire bar
jbmbanter The cutterbar has a common self-contained sump, shared by all sections. We run 75W140 gear lube in our 835. It has 7 sections and holds about 8.5 quarts, there is a drain plug one end of the bar, set the other end of the cutterbar on a block to get more complete draining, after running for a short time, to get any contaminants suspended in the oil.
every farm i have ever been on or worked for has a junk pile like that ,, you don't want to see the junk pile at my farm cause it's huge ,when i am not doing farm work i am a scrapper and actually clean up junk piles at farms

The stories Wes used to tell were my favorite part of channel.
LOL x box thong!! great interesting video.
I don't know much about farming, but you sure do make it interesting! Lol!
Your attitude is a lot better than mine with you troubles! Keep up the good vids & happy haying season!
hell of a start to the season.hope all behind ya now.
I am thinking that if they deck it it will change the overall length and it will no longer fit and seal correctly. kind a like doing crown molding . Just a thought
Right Tim. Classic line , great video Wes.
You the man Wes, problem solver extraordinaire!!!!!!

Oh my gosh...did you hear that at 13:39??? Wes must be having a very 'blessed' day! He said "PLEASE" to Tim!!! ;
There were more please, thank you's and attaboys in one vid than I can remember you saying all year. Keep it up!
Love the videos. Keep making them.
Xbox thing comment was awesome. Tim's a good kid and a hard worker Wes, your very lucky. Great video once again! Good luck with the haying process.
It's not so much that he's lucky about Tim as he's raised him right. As in having him help and not just vegetate to the age of 18 and leave the farm.

I'm very surprised it didn't cost a lot more than that.

So im not the only one with john deere giving me wrong parts and gaskets

“O” ring stretcher
Thanx from the left coast near the Krapitol of California
Onelonlyfarmer when you flat the end would the gears come closer together so they could break I guess
Whenever I look for parts that are discontinued I always find them at messicks, and I live in Ohio haha
dirtshower250 that's a true statement. I've typed in part numbers into google for older IH equipment and find Messicks at the top of the first page.
ih1206 exactly! we were out trying to load some frozen dirt with a 1920 and snapped the loader frame so i was curious if i could even get it, sure enough top of the page they had it.
I have ordered lots of parts from messicks on your recommendation and you are correct they bend over backwards for their customers!!
Steven Fournier thanks! we try.
Who built the john deere mowers ? Is it still kuhn or is kuhn building the new holland mowers ?

Is that a o-Deere no wind row today rower, sorry I had to get this one in, no offence, just joking
Hey guys ,,,, great video as ever .....What fell into the bucket?
Union Farm Equipment and Greenway Sales are the two companies I recommend for treating you like a valued customer.
I am curious. Do you bother to put a couple of tablespoons (quantity) of moto-honey into the gear box to help lubricate those gears?
Nice job! Part prices are way to high. I'm restoring a JD 7800 electrical system.
Its crazy how expensive farming can be
$1600 for a module??? That's insane
Messick Farm Equipment now if only we could get Deere Country on his page so we can get some hilarious commentary lol
Looked a bit warped a few inches from that end you pointed to Wes. Look back at the video from top edge front corner to the back.
I have a geul 2412 disk bine with a good cutter bar and I noticed u needed one with a good cutter bar
how much do you spend on parts each year??
Love the videos wes
thanks for the video wes
did you find out what fell in the bucket?...
Kevin Willis stone from behind the box
If you send it to the machine shop , ask them to magnaflux or use die inspection . And there may be better methods , now .
God bless
Wyr
What happen on Deere warranty ? You must have been turned down for hitting one of those Jersey Boulders.HEHE

How much was that turtle piece if I may ask
Somebody teach me please. I noticed that when Wes removed the part that the oil seemed thin. Is it hydraulic oil and is the bar self contained or does the hydraulic oil circulate through the tractor system? I would have thought that the 'turtles' had gear oil in them.

Thanks, I think I've seen Wes put oil into the individual turtles. Maybe is was on one of his other mowers.
jbmbanter the NH head on the IH mower is that way each module separate
jbmbanter The cutterbar has a common self-contained sump, shared by all sections. We run 75W140 gear lube in our 835. It has 7 sections and holds about 8.5 quarts, there is a drain plug one end of the bar, set the other end of the cutterbar on a block to get more complete draining, after running for a short time, to get any contaminants suspended in the oil.
So, do the seperate modules use gear oil or some other lighter oil. Thanks for the info.
If you couldn't bail with the 8530 why couldn't you use the 8120, or did you sell that?
his problem wasn't the tractor it was the PTO shaft on the baler it got bent at some point ,,a bent PTO shaft will destroy stuff in a hurry
X marks the spot
Did they warranty it?
Do those have to be timed?
Joel Adank did you listen. he said that
I was filling planter with beans while I was watching so I couldn't hear it very well
Is someone a Fallout 4 fan? around 4:40 the music playing in the background.
Lol x box thong that's a good one wes
How many acres do you farm total?
Lucas Makk I think around 3600 acres
Wes if you start singing The thong song I would be shocked and amazed
Only 360p?
hope the next 3500 acres go better than the last 60 has. good luck!
Sooooo, what fell into the bucket?
Jeff Begley in another comment earlier he said it was a stone
Parts in America are very expensive! In Europe its much cheaper.
Paul I'd question that. we export a lot of parts to Europe because they are cheaper here.
Guys are those MacDon good windrower/swathers? they seem to get a lot of rave testimonials from their owners! www.macdon.com/testimonials
WOW that much
When u gonna fix the cat crawler?
am I the only one that see that thing sinking when they was working on it
Wes you should grow a massive beard and change your name to "one filthy farmer"
Need better lighting. Can't really see what you are doing.
does all that junk in front of your barn not annoy you?
Alot of that junk is spare parts!
every farm i have ever been on or worked for has a junk pile like that ,, you don't want to see the junk pile at my farm cause it's huge ,when i am not doing farm work i am a scrapper and actually clean up junk piles at farms
You always hate looking at your junk pile till it saves you a trip to the parts store!
I love junk piles ,especially old ones ,, they often times are full of treasures ,and i have built numerous things out of other people's salvaged junk
Sjors Nijsen I bet when people drive by your open garage all they see is a rake.
The green one is broken. Man I would not like you driving my equipment you are so so so hard on everything
STOP SCRAPEING IT I LOVE THE VIDEOS BUT I CAN'T STAND THE SCRAPEING!!!
