It really was. It wasn't even because of cartridge limitations. They had a version with all 3 stories on it at launch.

4* times. There is a 4th path but I won't spoil how to get it, just know it exists.

250 hours later and I've pretty much 100 percented three routes so I feel pretty confident saying as a series veteran IGN nailed this review and that it is easily the best in the series imo

@Collin Yates Yeah you should enjoy them I would recommend starting out on awakening on the 3ds since it's the best one and it's a great starting point to get you into the series.

Fire emblem and animal crossing don't have an anime and tcg holding it back on getting delayed. It's not like game freak doesn't want to delay it.

GOLDEN DEER I'M COMIN HOME! 😭
Fire Emblem has been getting all 9+ reviews by IGN so it wasn't overly surprising.
Barely knowing anything going into the game, I was also planning on choosing the Golden Deer! Controlling members of a powerful nation/empire is always cool, but overused. Gimme the militarized group of merchants lol

Soo I got the game like 6 hours ago. Choosing a house is harder than you think. I've literally been running around the monastery for the past 3 hours trying to decide. Still haven't picked. The house leaders aren't what persuades you, it's their team members that make it difficult

Yeah I saw that 22min gamexplain video and kept scrolling my home page. Honestly I usually tend to know most about games and am just curious about a quick opinion (since Ive made the decision on whether Im spending money on the product or not by then). The extra long videos may be detailed by dive into stuff not important to a review most of the time.

Totally with you there. I'm super excited for the game but after watching a couple of 5-10 min reviews there's really not much more that NEEDS to be said. Even when I'm dying of anticipation (like now) those 20 min+ vids can be somewhat agonizing when all you want to know is what's new that hasn't been covered in other vids yet
This is one of my 5 most anticipated games of the year. Very happy to see the positive reviews its getting.

I think the Nintendo Switch might be the true successor to the Nintendo 64.
What i mean by that is that it is a console with almost no bad games. With a bunch of 8-10/10 games as well as many innovations
It's much easier when you're only supporting one piece of hardware. Nintendo struggled a lot during the Wii U and 3ds days because of that reason.
It's already selling at a great pace so it is better than N64 in that regard. My prediction is that it can sell as much as NES systems.

Whereas 90 percent of n64 titles were 8 to 10s.

@@hun3408 Every ff post 12 is trash. Dragon quest is mediocre. Trails of cold steel is leagues above the modern ffs (13 and 15) and dragon quest. Play cold steel 1 and 2. They are amazing games.

I have 2 friends playing and they forced me into the Blue Lions because they wanted Eagles and Stag so bad... but honestly after doing research I'm pretty happy that I got "stuck" with Blue Lions.

@@user-np3tq4nf1t nier automata, persona 5 and dragon quest 11 are some of the best games this generation. Japanese art style is better than generic brown and grey western games plus it has no propaganda.

1. Not a western company
2. Do not spread propaganda
3. Do not have a grey artstyle or whatever it is you mean
You express preference to anime artstyle, which I already inferred. But Nintendo's artstyle is neither anime or western. It's mostly cartoony or fantasy. If Smash had characters who didn't have those fictional aspects about them, Nintendo as a brand probably wouldn't be so recognizable.
The Nintendo switch is having an incredible year.

the dating aspect is super minimal. It's like 55% a strategy/war RPG, 40% life sim/Hogwarts sim, and like 5% dating sim

Fire Emblem is awesome, but those huge menus overwhelm me...just can't do it. I'm all for a 200 plus hour game, like Skyrim or BOTW, or Witcher 3, but something about Fire Emblem's set up just doesn't work for me. I am by no means saying it's a bad game or that the design is bad--obviously a lot of you guys like it, and objectively it's an awesome game. I just don't like how you have dozens of characters with dozens of weapon choices and have to do so much setup before you get to what I feel is the "fun" part (moving units in the field). I just wish it had more simplicity is all....but I understand that complex games are great on their own merit too, and obviously this game was made for other gamers. Looks awesome though, hope the fans enjoy the game they deserve!
you can actually let the game do the teaching part for you. I don't know if it holds your hand for everything in the monastery but if you just want the classic fire emblem experience you should be able to find it here.
@@lance6651 I saw that but I wasn't really talking about the teaching part. I mean like how there's a lot of items to equip and stuff. That's what made me stop playing when I tried Awakening. I got like 6 hours into the game then got tires of trying to figure out what the millions of items were.

Great review, great job on the video and solid thoughts about the game and the series. To be honest, the narrator probably needs some training on voice work for this type of thing. Long stretches of words are mashed together, making some parts of this very hard to understand. The narrator should either take more time or cut down on the word count so that the pace makes more sense.

I believe that timeskip Dimitri's weapon of choice is a Crescent Sickle; it fits him both as a character and unit. And he was so broken in my playthrough. He OHKO'd just about everything. I've never used such a powerful lord. I was--and am still--utterly fazed at his strength.
He better be broken in FEH. He deserves it.
Hector in FE7 could probably solo a lot of the game by the end. And my Golden Deer playthrough's Claude was broken as hell. Gave him a couple of Killing Edges and Killer bows and he was OHKOing pretty much everything while attacking from range, so he basically never got hit

Yes, Hector was great. And so was Ike. And so was Ephraim. The list goes on.
But I’ve never seen lords as powerful as Dimitri or Edelgard. I’ve yet to reach timeskip in Golden Deer, but I know that Claude will be just as great.
These lords could take out entire maps by OHKO’ing almost every enemy. They could dodge everything and critical hit like crazy. They were this powerful even when using regular weapons: Dimitri rocked his Crescent Sickle from the start of timeskip to the end of it.
This was especially the case with Dimitri; he was a “monster,” and I felt that I could feel his rage on the battlefield, through his unit.

In a manner of speaking, it does. If you scan the Roy amiibo at the amiibo gazebo, you can unlock a music track from Binding Blade as background music for a grinding battle scenario.
Once I get my controllers fixed I am going to get this. This looks like a real GotY contender in my book.
IMO Fire Emblem picked up where Final Fantasy left off. Once upon a time I used to anxiously await every release of a mainline Final Fantasy game in the US. IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X were fantastic, then it just went to hell. Luckily about that same time Fire Emblem in the US started making a name for itself on the Gamecube and GBA and it filled the void quite nicely.
I can not wait for a Switch remake of Genealogy of a Holy War and Thracia 776 because by most accounts, those are the two best games in the series and they've never made it to the US. From what I can see Genealogy of a Holy War stands toe to toe with other SNES greats like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. With this upgrade in hardware, if those old SNES games are ported to the new engine, it will be amazing.

2. someone without a lot of experience in tactics games?
I'm really on the fence about getting this game, not sure if it's for me.
Also, is it anything like Wargroove? Just so that I can get an idea about the gameplay
To answer both of your questions, yes fire emblem is suitable for newer players in the series because of the modes in which you can play. Normal casual is probably the best difficulty for you if you decide to pick the game up.

Question: if I loved fire emblem (like Path of Radiance, Sacres Stones, and other GBA games), will I like three houses? I want to get it, but im not a fan of "warriors" games.
Depends how much you like bigger maps than on GBA games and Persona like calendar system and school. Also Three houses isn't like a Warriors game as that's Fire emblem Warriors.
