What kinds of risks are you taking if you move overseas?
vagabondbuddha.com/our-liability-disclaimer-the-risk-is-on-you/
I stayed in Bucharest extensively for about 5 years. I drank the water out of the tap with no issues.
Yet another hidden gem in Eastern Europe. Thank you for showing Romania to the world
I really like Bulgaria, but one thing that is a real plus for Romania is their written language is Latin based, not Cyrillic like Bulgaria. Some people pick it up but in the month I spent in Kazakhstan I might as well have been on Mars. Cyrillic is extremely difficult for me but a Latin based language like Spanish or Italian is often easier to work with.
Congrats on 150K Subscribers Dan! My parents loved your recommendations in Ubud and KL. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Very nice report on a country I have contemplated since way back in college days. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Don't forget the Knock Out Women!!!!
Do the women take your possessions after they knock you out. Also, why don’t the police control this?………..😂
They do. That's why they knock you out. The police do nothing because they take a cut.
The ladies in RO are out of this world, be very careful not to explode from seeing them when you get there.
Great content Dan and Qiong!
Great video, Dan !
Thx for sharing
Glad you liked it!
Hi Dan, I appreciate your videos very much. You actually deliver value vs. other travel bloggers, who mostly like to brag. Anyway, it would be very interesting to hear your input about Transnistria (moldova). It is the next country after Romania and the only country that preserved the Soviet Union statues and style. I am located at the moment here, and I would love to hear your thoughts about this place. I'll be happy to meet you and show you around, guys. Thanks for your valuable videos one more time. You are actually living the life and helping people at the same time with channel, that's priceless.
Hi @AboutFreedomShow, Would you like to be a guest start on one of my videos? Here is an example guest star video: ruclips.net/video/ySM_2jAC4v4/видео.html
Your interview could be just your voice or we could do a zoom call showing your face. If you would like to be a guest star and share your story please leave a personal message here: vagabondbuddha.com/contact/
Thank you for your comment. The detail of your comment makes this real for people. If you have a business, service, or RUclips channel, you could share that on the interview. Best, Dan
@@VagabondAwake Dan, I knew you will suggest that, as I watched some of your EA videos. Thank you, I'll think about it. In teh mean time, I strongly suggest you visit Moldova and Transnistria, to have two more reasonable priced countries in your collection that expats might consider. You can take an overnight train from Bucharest to Chisinau ($35 from Gara de Nord), which would be another experience. Moldova is pretty beautiful in this time of the year, and I hope you enjoy it, but Chisinau (the capital) is over crowded (Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria is way more laid back).
@@AboutFreedomShowTransnistria is one strike away from Russia and it is de-facto controlled by Russia. I would not ever live there until Ruskies get out of there. Moldova is definitely better, but still not safe from the war.
I stayed in Bucharest for 10 weeks in 2021. The only complaint I had was that the taxi drivers really love to rip you off if you don't know how to protect yourself from them. Otherwise, I loved it there!
We used the taxi apps (bolt and uber) and the price is set so no negotiations.
@@VagabondAwake good idea! thanks for the tips.
Thanks Dan 👍🏼
Perfecto!❤
Good Info Dan, especially the Immigration lawyer site. Might you be checking out Bulgaria and possibly Sunny Beach there?
Here is our beach report for Bulgaria, Jack: vagabondbuddha.com/retire-in-varna-bulgaria/
Check out Burgas in BG and Constanta in RO
Can't watch this video but will get caught up. I love you two and wish you a continued great life. From the Philippines, Gary
Thanks Gary! Back at you. :-)
Excellent video, Dan!
I live here. 1k is a very limited lifestyle - only rent and food. If you add other expenses it’s gonna be 1.5-2k
Just returned to the US from Bucharest a month ago. I was shocked by how expensive groceries were. Maybe it was just the specific store I went to (Kaufland), but they were more expensive there than in either Germany and Italy. And on par with France, I'd say.
On the other hand, I thought the accomodation was very good value.
Thanks for your numbers. We are all different so people need to do an exploratory visit to know what there personal costs would be. Some more, some less. Its all about lifestyle.
Beautiful place. Great for a holiday, but I wouldn't retire there. Asia wins every time for me.
Thanks for sharing John.
How I the cheap food? Healthy?
Very fresh and healthy, most of the food is grown locally in RO
Another great , video. Romania has come a long way. Beautiful country. Curious to know if you intend to visit adjacent Moldova. Apparently it’s also a beautiful place and super affordable.
Probably not this time. But maybe next. :-)
Moldova is similar, but in some ways backward since they are not yet in the EU. But both are gold if you stay out of trouble
Buenos Aires I found at least 25% cheaper than Bucharest

You were scammed for the internet bill. We have fiber 1GB at the same price. Also your monthly shopping expenses was double that what i was expecting, probably because you only went near the old town to buy things. The prices are double there because of "tourist tax" :) (not really a tax, just a supply and demand. If people are willing to buy it overpriced, why not sell it to them)
True. As you move away from the center things get cheaper.
It looked like fun but I couldn’t hear clearly the words? Wish I could
Not clear? Not loud enough?
Sorry it was very clear🙏🏼
Budget retiree are for two?
Yes, that's our estimate for us two.
You should try Brasov Sibiu Timisoara those are awesome towns in Romania Buharest is decent but not great Cluj is overpriced overated etc ....
We showcase Brasov this Saturday. Yes, those are all great places.
Was Bucharest destroyed in WWII?
It was not. That is one of the reasons E. Europe is more interesting than Western. They gave up quickly so the architecture is preserved.
@@VagabondAwake didn’t Ceausescu destroys lot of old historical buildings ?
First time by the Allies...April-May 1944 - British American bombardments in Bucharest - 5.524 dead, 3.373 wounded, 47.974 left without homes.
Second time by Axis.... 23-27 August 1944 - Nazi bombardments in Bucharest - 85 dead, 90 wounded, 69 houses destroyed.
@@calixtomuni9780he did, but Bucharest is amazingly historic compared to American cities
@@VagabondAwake Except Warsaw.
I hope you get to Cluj also. I looked at Romania but a lot of people on groups weren't that positive about Bucharest. But very positive on the Transylvania region.
Watch this coming Saturdays video for that.
Cluj is very very oveated and overpriced
Ha ha ha , they've got the most expensive places to eat or buy food 😂
We paid as little as $5 USD for full meals here. Are you eating for less? Where?

Thansk for being first Barry!
