Bergkamp’s Holland years were the BEST football I have seen at an International level. The matches were ALWAYS entertaining.
Bergkamp in his physical prime was scary
People forget Dennis was playing since the mid 80s and actually had good pace on the dribble. A lot of us are used to the wiser, older more streetwise player he turned into.
In fact Dennis was 2rd and 3rd for Balon Dor in the early 90s and this sort of form shows why.
The ONLY reason he didn’t win Ballon D’or in 93 was because of his down form in the last few months of the year. Had he stayed in Holland, would have won it comfortably.
This version of Bergkamp dribbled far more than himself after 1998/99. Guessed age caught up with him after all. An older Bergkamp seems to have better passing though.
Yes you're correct. His euro 2000 performance was in my opinion his best tournament but he was basically just a creator, instead of a striker like previous tournaments

In 1992 he was 2nd and in 1993 3d for the Golden ball. Dennis should have been a superstar in the WC 94, but did not really reach that heights
I did think he had a very decent 94 world cup, just not quite as good as stoichkov/romario/baggio who were all exceptional. His form with inter was what let him down I think, he just didn't fit their super-defensive system whatsoever and had a tough time there. If he went to someone like barca after ajax maybe he would have peaked in 94-96 but in actuality his best seasons were just before and after that period
