    Augustus Dev Here (Leg2):
    Docks have been completely overhauled in next update and will now include the actual trade city name AND allow/disallow resources to trade within the city as well. For example two docks from Miletus can be placed , one just selling its clay to you and a second dock buying marble

      Hi ! I just played on this map and the traders from Miletus were bugged. After I demolished 1 dock they failed to appear. I couldnt get any clay... had to reload a previous save

      A little late to report things, I've played this map in the campaign recently, as @alexshepard7527 has stated the sea traders on this map are bugged, I don't know if it's this map in particular or sea traders in general but mine happened with Alexandria. The problem seems to be if you're exporting something in my case it was weapons then you started to set up a second dock to import their goods it was wine for Alexandria. I've recently found out that traders always sell goods first, the problem in my case my export dock (weapons) is closer than my import dock (wine) my import dock was setup at the end of the water path by the time the trader has finished buying weapons it literally disappears, then they never comeback ever waited for about 2-3 years, unless..... you cancel the import from the trade advisor wait a month or two (I also might've saved then reload can't remember) and voila the trader started appearing again. I've made sure that the ship will go to my import dock first by setting it up closer than my export dock and it went smoothly.

    You can build a 2 tile bridge on the left side of the island if you clear some trees, to save some money in the beginning. It's also quicker for traders to access the warehouse.

    Zakh, thanks to your hints, I managed to beat the game today, after almost 20 years. I still don't understand some mechanics (for example, the not enough variety of entertainment, that prevents me from reaching luxury palaces), but I was successful despite of them. Thank you very much.

    It sounds like "N" when he says "I'm new to this place, do you have anywhere to live?" Because what he says is "I'm new to this place, do you KNOW of anywhere to live?" But great Play through. I started watching on your first Play through w/o the green-screen many years ago. And enjoy how you keep pushing the envelope on this classic game. It's also nice how you finally discovered the Power of Towers. I believe you only used them once or twice in your first 2 times you played through the game. Anyway I will continue to watch your channel on RUclips to see how for you can push the envelope.

    3 hours of my life just got better, Thanks! Funny to see the game I got as kid (as non english speaker) and never had idea of whats going on. But now I finally enjoy it and love these playthroughs

    Tarsus
    Here's a building block I developed for Caesar III, Augustus. There are two little inlets where the coastline parallels the main road. Place a Reservoir along the coast line just after the main road turns left. Drag another Reservoir to the SW so their coverage just matches up evenly. Drag a third one SW again. Now, drag a reservoir from #2 and 3 to the NW. These form a square with no aqueducts to the NW. Go to the Desirability overlay under Commerce. If the game is paused, unpause it until the yellow 3 x 3 squares are surrounded by orange squares. From the inside tips of the Reservoirs Desirability coverage, run a road 16 x 16. Place fountains to completely cover each corner of this road. They will appear as yellow single squares. At the southern most fountain, place a Governor's Palace. Connect the Palace to the 16 x 16 road next to the southern fountain. Place 11 medium statues around the Palace. Hit the space bar to get rid of the overlay. Place an Engineer's post and a Prefecture next to the Palace on it's connecting road and at each corner of the 16 x 16 road. Then place a Doctor at each corner. Place a double row of housing on the NW and NE parts of the 16 x 16 road. [Don't place housing on the South side yet. You will get fires before all those Prefectures get manned.] Once these houses are occupied, set the southern housing. Now fill all the open space inside the 16 x 16 road with Gardens.
    As you add services, this block will advance to Insula without wine. This block will hold about 2000 people. Don't offer them wine at all. Grand Insula hold less people, take lots of space and lose you workers. You need 6000 population to victory in Tarsus. Three of these blocks fulfills that.
    There is room for some 80 or so Fishing Wharves around this map. Getting the fish around the map to feed everyone is a mess. There are 5000 units of wheat per year available by trade. Allow any market to trade in Wine ruins the pop cap. I hope you found this useful.

    I am loving the designs of your city and this style, not stuck to finding and repeating the best forced walker design. If it wouldn't be presumptuous of me to suggest, I think I had a nice idea to try for a design. Basically, you make the four reservoirs in a "perfect" square (no crooked aqueducts), that connect to each other and, inside the square, the forced walker passes through. In THAT bit of forced walker path, you build the fancy houses for the rich, with all the aesthetic stuff you want. Now that Augustus gives a lot of options for decoration and your eyes for design, I think that area could be really pretty.

    Added a highway alongside each of the Warfs in this, made a big difference in getting the Granary stocked with fish. Shame that you need a separate road for fire and structural engineers.

    About the granaries, not having enough fish in the two servicing the markets and all that, I think the solution is much simpler than "splitting" them. Place more! Each granary sends out one getting cart which transports 8 units of food (16 if you check the box in the Augustus options under "City Management"), in the meantime nothing else happens, getting food-wise. If you place, say, 6 or 8 granaries around your main housing block and near the markets, then you have 6 or 8 carts making the trip at any given time, transporting more fish (your other granaries, the "accepting" ones are almost constantly full, no?). This way you have more granaries partially filled near the markets, thus more food in the "system".

    for dock special order, u must have anything that a trade route have enabled, example if a trade route buys furniture and marble and sells vines, olives, and clay, u must enable all that goods that route trade in that dock even u dont trade one of that goods, with that u can control which dock specified for each trade route

    @GamerZakh - I think the dock special orders don't quite work yet (I've seen someone mention that there will be an update soon). I think I remember that the docks special orders must be set to accepting everything the trade route sells/buys for the ship to land there at the moment. Maybe you can try if that works until the update comes ;)

    Ah I finished this map just last week. Money wasn't a problem. I also tried forced walker but it wasn't as clean as you, but it works. The only issue on this map is that fish is not enough to feed the hungry plebs, I had to import wheat to feed them to make it stable

    I think the problem with the villa area is that it evolved into the wrong direction, so it became out of reach for the fountains, which makes it devolve all the way down. Just keep the upper road snaking until they're already 3x3, then straighten it out to allow them to evolve to 4x4.

    Damn I played this game all wrong. I thought you had to have housing connected to the industry, so I tended to have a highly evolved inner city with like tents in the production hoods. I also thought you were required to have roads connected throughout your city. Need to buy Caesar again it seems ;D

    the unstable food supply is doing nothing, the distributor and the collector are 2 seperate things, the distributor is always going out even if the market is completly empty.

    Returning to this map after the almost 4-hour long "ordeal" that was Carthago, I spotted a small mistake on your planning.
    You said you'd stay off that rocky island, then placed your Dock there. Docks need Warehouses nearby, why not place the Docks either to the peninsula west of the island or on the mainland, near the island? That island should "house" first and foremost iron mines and marble quarries, THEN something else, if anything else fits! Workshops, Warehouses, Docks and the rest can go anywhere, raw materials that need a special kind of terrain cannot.

    Enjoying your videos a lot! I still need to learn about the Forced Walker stuff. It troubles me to think how could the mission be completed in Vanilla, seems impossible to imagine. These mods makes so much sense for the game health! What do you think?

      vanilla isnt that big of a difference. forced walkers is a vanilla thing, and all that stuff like road blocks can be tricked with gatehouses its a bit bigger 2x2 instead of just a road but still usable.
      to be able to force traders to buy from specific warehouses isnt that big of a deal the same for markets.
      Global labour is also relativly easy with feeder houses to archive.
      the biggest additions with augustus are the grand temples and stuff and the visual stuff like the trees.

    Hi Zack, I think the Dock special orders feature is broken in this version of Augustus you have, there’s a HUGE dock update that even ships behave differently and fixes the problems in this version. Please consider updating.

    You expanded you wharves east of the first reservoir, why not place a spare granary there? Your original granary was set to "getting" anyway.
    And you did just that a few minutes later!👍

    I looked forward to the moment you are recognizing the market ladies syncing up, its because the one granary at the side of the road is making room for the distributor to walk, so she isnt stucked in that one tile gap and is forced to go home. but it should be fairly easy to avoid it by having one gap.
    i hated this map because you cant simply build more docks. the ship traders are compared to the land traders really stupid.
    even with the special orders the docks are really tricky to place.

    Does the temple of Venus distributing wine mean you can now get Lux. palaces on missions where you cannot build wine workshops but can import it?

      Yes it does. Also the Pantheon makes houses evolve 1 level higher too, so with those 2 you should be able to evolve houses fully even on maps you couldn't before.

    Hi Zakh. Loving this series so far. I got stuck on this mission on my last vanilla C3 play through. I just couldn’t get prosperity high enough. It would fluctuate around the 40 mark. Even with villas and removing as many tents as possible. Any tips on where I might have gone wrong?

      Keep unemployment below 5%, make money on a regular yearly basis (not during the very first few years but later on, you should), donate to the city if things are on the brink, max out your exports (even sell fish if you have to) and you should be good! Also, keep your housing levels "tidy", meaning "no tents, no slums". If your worst houses are, say, small casas, and your best are small villas you should be above 60 Prosperity, I think.

    What was the reason behind placing 2 work camps for the Venus Grand Temple (past missions you only placed one if memory serves me well)?

      It helps bring resources over faster, wasn't a problem in previous missions because resources were nearby.

      @@GamerZakh you can go as crazy as you can afford on those. My worst, on a "doctored" custom map (doctored as in tweaked to make it easier to test some limits), was 9 Architects and 12 Work Camps, built a Grand Temple level in one and a "half" go (not exactly half, I carried 48 loads of resources each trip, some levels were built in one "go", others took a second trip for some of the workers). If your situation allows, more is always better, as in "faster"!!

    I have one question, and I hope I don't sound condescending or something, but why do you build just fishing warves, not a combination of fishing and farming to feed your "not-rich' pop?

      On this map there is no farming, fishing is the only food source besides imports.

    what does forced walker mean? is that part of augustus?

      It's a technique that's a semi-exploit in the original game to make walkers walk almost forever. It became recognised at a legitimate technique. I have a short guide video linked in the description.
