Love the way you lift the rocks; take just what you need, then put the rocks back . Very responsible fishing . Total respect to you. The fry-up looks amazingly tasty.
It saddens me to see it when people don't put the rocks they flip over back the correct way, we get it a lot here in Cornwall especially in the Summer months. I'm so glad to see another person who has the passion to take care of our precious sea life like yourself Jay. Love the channel and your videos mate keep up the awesome content 👌
Nothing better than getting a notification for a new upload. Spend my lunch break watching you, thank you for helping me get through my work day. Continue what your doing. Ryan.
Just moved back from Cayman Islands to Guernsey yesterday. Can’t wait to go for a forage here again. But will miss the great diving of Cayman and light tackle fishing for snapper, bones and tarpon from the shore! Great memories.
I can't get over how clear and clean the water is down there, you wouldn't want to eat anything you caught near me. those pita's looked so good. Take care and stay safe
We celebrated the birthday of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This past Weekend in the UNITED STATES. Here in Puerto Rico we had a seafood barbecue with TOMAHAWK STAKES. We even had Alaskan KING Crab Legs and snow crab legs with Tuna steaks and Salmon. We made a Melon Salad with Ice Cream. Lots of Hotdogs and burgers with Grilled potatoes. Of course we all fell asleep on the beach. We plan to charter a yacht for President's Day and go diving for LOBSTERS and Conch. Still planning the menu. We do it for the children who are trying to adjust to the mandates related to the CORONAVIRUS. We have been Blessed with no one catching the CORONAVIRUS in our community. So even though they say that the CORONAVIRUS is reaching its peak please remember to always stay safe. 👍🇵🇷
Excellent video Jay 👍, no pain no gain 💪. I still have mark's, on my ankles & carfs. From walking through the bush ( position ivy) 2 years ago. You do want what you have to do, to get to places. Those orma rapps, looked Absolutely Delicious 😋.
Hi, Jay! If you ordered abalone in a restaurant in Guernsey, what would it cost? I'll figure out what it is in US dollars. I have never seen it on menus of seafood restaurants I frequent. Might be the ritzier restaurants have it. This was a great foraging video! Do you use the abalone shells for anything?
Awesome dude... i live in new Zealand🇳🇿 we have pretty good waters this side of the lands since subscribing my 2 wee ones try get out every weekend. Keep up the good work love the content
Hello sir! hope you're having a smashing new year. wondering if you can do a gear load out on what u bring out with you on the backpack for scavenging or catch n cook? cheers from Singapore. love your vids.
I learned my lesson many videos ago not to watch your cook ups without something to eat in hand😂. That looked awesome. What’s more satisfying flipping a massive boulder and finding an ormer or finding monsters under the Little Rock’s? Catch you on the next one 👍🇨🇦
Oh my goodness look at all that abalone you’re making me hungry kid oh my goodness I still wanna come over for supper the shells are beautiful in size also
Those Ormers look like big field mushrooms when you chop them after cooking... Well worth all of the stings & little pinch from Larry the 🦞 Looks like some top quality grub dude
Those Abalone are small compared to our Red Abalone we have in the California coast, ours have to be 7 inches to harvest and limit is three per day with a total limit of 18 per year (used to be 24 per year) but sadly the season for harvesting Red Abalone has been closed for several years due to a massive die off from red tides, poachers taking what they want and also our Abalone is competing with tons and tons and tons of sea urchins for food (kelp). Watching you harvest them make me miss it a lot!
Dude, I don't know a thing about abalone but it sounds exquisite. Can you collaborate with a chef to upscale this wonderful seafood? From Chicago, Brooke Leaton.
Hey smash fishing can you do a catch in cook with lobster BUT inject the tail and claws with a syringe a melted butter, lemon and Cajun mix before steaming it I did this with a crayfish here in Australia and it was amazing
Very dissapointing to see people have not returned the rocks back how they find them it must be the locals too, but great to see you always protect the island and the future stocks Jay, great feed up too always makes me want them abalonies more certainly on me bucket list to try thanks
@@SMASHFISHING thanks for inspiring bud 👍👍 I would’ve never tried spider crab, lady crab or ormers if not for your vids. Keep up your great work fella…. you’re doing wonders to some people 💪💪👊👊
I understand the thinking, but it has been my experience that great care should be taken when letting the rocks back down. It is tedious done right or I promise you that you will crush critters. No matter how carefully you lift a rock it gouges the sand, moves etc. and doesn't fall back exactly in place. Most folks should just leave them rolled. If they do get left turned over the weed, etc. will grow back and critters will dig back under it just like they did when rough water moved the rocks there in the first place. The plus is that there is plenty of organics to feed on...just sayin'. It does "look" better when you put the rocks back....
Hey you know I fix my rig with a bottom sinker the oval shape one with a hole through the center it does not catch weeds it is cool and I put one loop 16 inches above sinker and another one 16 inches above it two loops then an eagle claw hook and baits catches everything and easy to set up that oval shaped sinker does not catch anything on the bottom you might try it might work for you
They look tasty. A cheap pair of triathlon/ swim sleeves might help prevent the anemone stings on your forearm. Failing that, a few layers of clingfilm might be worth a try 😁
Why do people not want to conserve the habitat? Are they just too lazy to turn the rocks back over or just not give a crap! I know the answer, just being sarcastic. It really makes me irritated when you and Sam go behind to clean up someone elses mess. I am so glad you try to take care of the habitat and nature.
In regard to the sea urchin - you can tell when they are carrying eggs (the edible bit) because they camouflage themselves with bits of weed and shells - it's a dead giveaway.
A goodbye it is, can't see much of your vids anymore due to Eyesight loss, thanks for all the content and your easy-going personality, it has helped me through some less pleasant times. I wish you a nice rest of your life!

No anyone can forage ormers as long as they stick to the laws that are in place
