Hello! Thought I'd share this fun patch idea I have been using lately :) These videos are funded by my beautiful Patreon members: www.patreon.com/monotrail Affiliate links: Perfect Circuit - US - bit.ly/3Yn0Gll Sound of You - EU bit.ly/3DzdFYi Clockface - AS - bit.ly/3YkDJ1B
Glad you liked it!! There are a few companies and products I still like to support over the year, and modules I like to own I have to admit :) But I wrote about 20 concept scripts for independent videos like this one, and made it my focus for this year! Thanks for watching :)
This is a great idea! The best patches are always surprisingly simple. It really comes to life when you add the LFO or smooth random to the envelope times.
Thanks! And agree, simple ideas like this are easy to implement, with lot's of variations. Modulating decay and running the 2nd env through a VCA are my favorite :)
To create a delayed envelope, how about inverting the square wave and triggering with the inverted copy? Similarly use a pulse wave and do pwm on the source wave to get matching inverted pwm. This will change the delay time without changing frequency
Excellent! I knew I forgot a good trick making this video :) If you use a bipolar LFO, indeed just inverting it gives you a great delayed trigger. If you use a unipolar clock form a sequencer, you can invert and add offset for the same effect. PWM will add to that for sure! Thanks for sharing :)
Sounds good, think you will :) I like the patch with the second envelope opening a VCA to create delayed FM pulses. But lot's of variations to explore! Cheers :)
Great tip! Inspired a fun patch for me with a Rampage generated delay triggering Clouds with an octave up pitch shift. Made a cool tempo shifted sequence related to the original.
A simple way to get a kind of "reverse slapback" is to just use an inverted ADSR on the Filter so the Attack becomes a Decay and vice versa. Alternatively set decay to 0 and the Release becomes Attack when you close the gate or release the key. You would need a longer release on the VCA envelope ol the second example to allow the Filter EG decay to play out.
Thank you! I have been working as a freelance graphic designer for a long time, so I am to deep in the Adobe trap to get out. I use Illustrator for that.
Very nice video - timely, because I've been thinking about swing recently. Also got me to think about my quadrax again, realize it's not even on the latest firmware, and gave me lots of ideas about how to set it up and self patch it to get these kinds of effects. Thanks!
It looks like perfect opportunity to use Zadar to modulate Zadar modulated by Zadar :) As always, great video! P.S. having small system forces me to thinking out of the box, and your "hacky" method was first thing in my mind
Very true! I mention the Erica Synth DADSR in the video, and even did a video with that module a while ago. Really fun to have acces to a delay stage right on the envelope, not just for this little trick :)
Most eurorack mixers can handle Control Voltages as well. Just send both envelopes to a mixer, and then send the mix to the single CV input on the filter :)

I love this kind of tutorial video without product placement, thank you 🙏

If you don’t have a delay trigger you probably have a Pam’s, can just set a second gate output at a different phase
Nice! Thanks for sharing that, sounds like it should do the trick for sure :)

Another fantastic video from Monotrail - and best 'Like and subscribe' ever! Love it.
Haha, thank you! Glad to hear you liked it :)

Great video! Thanks. Subscribed to see more later! 🤘👽🛸🌞🌛
Awesome, thank you!
Mmm, I'm going to try this to pitch cv and get some weird sounds.

Nice, sounds like a fun patch :)

So nice video! While watching, i was wondering, what you used to create the flowchart to visualize the signal chain?

Nice, glad to hear it! Quadrax is great, enjoy patching :)
KOOL Concept! GOTTA try this out w/ my ZADAR, Vermona QUAD LFO & ADDAC VCA! THANX MonoTrail! 👽
Glad you liked it! Love my Zadar, it's a perfect module for this! It even has a build in mechanic to trigger multiple envelopes with a phase offset :)

Great one mate!
Hey, thank you mister Oora! :)
Fantastic! Very well explained, as always
Glad you liked it!
Mono 🎉 trail! Thanks
Haha, thank you! :)
I'm going to try this, thanks for the instruction!
You're welcome, enjoy!
beautiful tutorial, thanks a lot!
You're very welcome, glad you liked it! :)
Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living. I don't need to fight.
Another stupidly blatant way to get trig delay on an envelope is, have an envelope module with a delay stage.

If the filter juts have one CV cutoff filter input, how can you add two different envelopes to it?

@@MonotrailTechTalk Thanks, I will tried that out :)
