Use the grid coordinates at the bottom of the mini map to ensure straight lines. When you placed your start position at 6:26 the x coordinate was 1485. When you placed the end of the row 6:45 you were at 1483 so it was slightly off. Once I rearranged the comments I realized @Andrea Woodvine has said basically the same thing five minutes before I did. :) Discovered today that you can use the furrows of a plowed field to align grapevines. Once the vines are placed the furrows and stones disappear and you're left with nice straight vines.
@@timelapsesimgamer5442 It's actually easier now since the last update. You can use this method to ensure the first row is straight. The remainder of rows snap to the first which automatically aligns the distance between as well.
I did a test and if you get the bigger engine you can do the mulching and cultivating in the same pass. Just put the mulcher on the front of the tractor.
One good way to get your vines really really straight is to use your minimap in the corner, by having the direction exactly on 0°, 90° 180° or 270° and dragging back. Also, use the coordinates to make sure you have the right horizontal or vertical number on both ends. You can also use the coordinates to make sure you are getting the same distance between vines.
Definitely, also in real life you generally want vines running north to south (ideally on a south facing slope) to maximise sunlight and ensure they all get consistent amounts of sunlight - that’s in the northern hemisphere at least, it’s reversed for the southern hemisphere where a north facing slope of preferable
Use the edges of the fields as the guide for orchards, the edges "snap" when you reach the end. This way only focus on width placement. A player can use a larger sprayer at full height to do much more acreage at once. Orchards are one of the stronger additions to FS22.
@@bobbybobberson1559 it's pretty shitty that Giants couldn't manage to implement this in the first place. Common sense would have dictated if you added a feature like this, you would have set it up in a fluid manner. I sometimes think Giants intentionally rely on mods to make their games better to save money.
There is a grid in FS19, it’s unfortunate FS22 hasn’t, as said hopefully a mod will solve this. Being able to lay 5 rows at a time would also be useful.
I just go one rank to the side and start there one rank sideways then on the other side you do the same and you get straight lines without too much fuzz
Although you are not from the US, happy thanksgiving to you too. Speaking of the holiday, thank you for continuing to make quality videos almost everyday.
Thanks as always for the great video. Is anyone else finding it really tedious doing the plowing in the vineyard? I am trying to get all areas underneath the vines, but it seems to require 2-3 passes to fully get in there and plow it, and my plow keeps getting stuck, anyone else finding this to be the case? Is it even needed or is it easier to just go down the middle only?
might be better when first starting to plow ,fert. the soil pretty much prep the land beforew you place the grapes or olives .. and buy letting the ia subsoil first you will always have a straight line to follow when placeing the crop .. just a thought
Prices and yield on olives need major adjustment, planted all 3 fields in start farm on elm.creek, total investment 750k. Including oil factory at 80k. Have run for 3 years total yield per year is roughly 14k liters, if sold outright price is roughly 1k per 1k liters so total profit is 14k roughly if you run through factory then you get 5k per liter so roughly 30k per year. To lease the picker it is a little over 15k initial cost. If olives are sold straight out at 1k it won't even pay for rent on harvester.
I don't think olives are too common here but plenty of people near me in Michigan (clearly where Elmcreek is set) have garden vineyards. I don't think they're very productive though. I hope we get modded fruit trees so I can plant cherries, especially if they get the awesome flowers in the spring.
I want coffee vines, they are literally grown the same way as grapes and use alot of the same equipment. I just cannot for the life of me make mods for FS
i truly can't be bothered subsoiling or mulching because i have such huge orchards now, but i get 85% bonus as long as i fertilize and im ok with that for the 8 hours of real time it would take to do those two things
RE: Sugarcane. It would continuously grow until you got rid of it, but in FS17 you had to plow after every third harvest, so after 3 harvests you would get a penalty to the yield.
Confirming yes, this can be done. Just tried in my vineyard with the Landini and 2 x pruners and if you line the tractor up in the very middle, each pruner will "reach" out to each vine and you'll get it done. I was sloppy with my passes though and found tiny bits which it didn't catch - meaning had to make several passes anyway. But with practice, yep you can do it!
I place one of the orchard tenders at the end of the field to act as a visual guide. It really helps in making my placement more effective when I don't have handy lines in the field.
I've only just got the PC version, and on that when placing vines they SNAP to location when next to another, is this a recent update compared to the messing around on this vid @5:50?
In fs19 and sugar cane the only reason to replant every three harvest is because u need to plow. If you turn off plowing your sugarcane will regrow every time with the same yield.
Irl if you would to do each row two times for mulching and two times for subsoiling, you would go broke before you reach the end of the field. Irl people use measure tape (and wire or rope or infrared line tool) to draw a grid to prevent this. I don't know if you had weeds and rocks turned on. But subsoilers are also still broke in any other use situation they are not supposed to cause weeds in the quantities they do and they are nog supposed to leave a cultivate state. I would stay as far away from this as you can untill patch... .
I think you can fertilize plants by spraying fertilizer on the leaves. But i think there might be some protection included aswell. Vines are sensitive plants to many diseases.
Great video. I want to mention, the New Holland TK4 methane tractor is great for mulching and cultivating. Why? Because its can turn around on a dime, effectively doing a 360 once at the end of a row. Disadvantage of it, only 75 hp and you're not going to be carting with it as top speed is only 7mph. However, traction and maneuverability are unmatched. I would be interested to know the percentage increases in yield for doing each step, example mulching, cultivating, and fertilizing.
Also i was confused by you commentary on the olive mills, could be your accent or verbiage, but you said you do and you dont need one, can you clarify or am I not hearing correctly? Also what is oberon?
Excellent video perfect for steps I just planted grapes and wanted to see what was needed and when and knew you would be the man to find for the answers thanks Mr Sealy P

Little bit disappointed FS22 doesn't include the watering procedure, because it is needed for olives IRL at least. I grow olives as a living, and it is way easier here than in real life

the John Deere 4755 tractor mod is perfect for anything its my all time favorite i own nothing else it has an unreal engine selection where its 890hp so itll tow anything literally also has tons and tons of tire options so you can put narrows on it for things like grapes and olives and also has triples, wides, duals, many others for the heavy equipment. it goes 93mph it is awesome check it out its a medium tractor
Just started my grapes and olives for the first time. Have had to rewatch this for reference. Really good job. Thank you. I think I’ve made one error tho. I bought the new Holland tractor as it just looked so awesome. Not sure the pruner will fit it tho :(.
It will. I use a New Holland for this as well. It's dynamic - the side reach has some adjustment (it's automatic) when in use. You can't run the tractor with the pruner on the left, while dragging the right side of the tractor down the right side, and expect it to reach the left row. But if you're somewhere in the middle, the pruner will reach and do its job just fine.
Another great video Mr. SP. I'm growing both for the first time so thanks for this rundown on what to do. I think I may have planted mine a bit too far apart (was making sure the equipment was definitely going to fit between the rows!). Keep up the stirling work sir!
i cheated a bit and used my worker to make a straight line with a cultivator but i may need to redo them cause of the tractor i chose was wider then the orchard tractors

They really need to come up with some sort of grid snapping so you can get the rows exactly straight, must be possible
A mod will probably make that possible. Question is just how long it'll take for that to mod to be made
