I honestly wish we got a movie where the town and people were heavily effected by the events of 78's massacre, maybe even Myers isn't in it but we have terrifying ghostly type scenes of people thinking they see him or think he's chasing them , would be amazing
Mike Joseph that was what Carpenter wrote originally for the most part. The studio found it too cerebral
Some of that carried over to the actual movie, kids playing pranks and people being killed by mistake.

Wow the script had me until the drive-in.. Him growing to 12 feet tall sounds terrible lol. Seems like a Friday/Nightmare film. I'm very thankful for the H4 we actually got. Now that Halloween Returns script... I would take that in a heartbeat.
If Michael had all the abilities from this script I would have been scared.

That drive-in scene can also add to the lore because it's been said that the movie that Michael's parents went to see at the drive-in the night Judith was killed in '63 was actually Psycho!
I would check out some of the Halloween comics if you’re interested in reading anything Michael Myers related! The fact that he doesn’t talk makes the art and writing in comic form even better. I didn’t know this script existed though, so thank you! 😊

Great shitballs, I’m happy as hell you guys did this video. I’ve been reading the Halloween 4 script the past few days and I’m disappointed to say by the time we met the tv reporter I was ready to stop right there. Thank the holy realms for the Halloween 4 we did get & lil badass Jamie Lloyd🙏🏾
I’m not a fan of H4 but I don’t think I would have been a fan of the franchise if this script had been the final product. The one thing I’ve always loved about the first two films was he Myers was a man and for the most part grounded to reality. It’s always scarier when it COULD happen.
Jim Grape I agree; the more real, the scarier it is...like "The Strangers" scared the crap out of me, but all the fantasy crap doesn't do anything for me
Lauren Greenlee I was okay with the thorn route. Not so much with Myers growing 12 feet tall and all that. Overboard if you ask me.
He was never just "a man" but J.C. Left it to the audience and their imagination as to what he was because he always felt like the unknown is scarier. He never wanted to do H-2 (by the way then you know for sure he's not just a man, by the end of h-2, including all wounds from H-1,he has been stabbed in the neck, eye, and abdomen, shot 6 times, fell off a balcony flat on his back, shot 6 more times, then had both eyes shot out (which by the way, the brain is behind them) and still kept coming, only when the body it was in was incinerated did he stop) But of course now that the new movie retcons all but the original we will see what he is.

4 was mediocre as fuck and was the demise of the franchise. If only they kept Johnny on board the series would be a lot better than what we got after 3 and on.

I have 2 drafts of this -- the 2nd and 3rd. One starts with Michael putting the mask on in front of the mirror and one starts like the first film, crossing the street toward the Meyers house, then going up the stairs and into the bedroom, where he grabs the mask, etc. I also have a 1st draft of Halloween 2, if you guys want it.

I wish the drive-in and the pumpkin patch scenes were written for Part 4 with Tommy and Lindsey having a cameo at the theater. Give it more of an 80s feel. I much as I love Part 4, a handful of extra scenes for gave the movie more of an orignal feel instead of being sort of like Halloween 1. And do set up the end with Jamie ACTUALLY murdering her foster mother and being taken away to an insane asylum while Rachel and her dad are holding each other and crying while Dr. Loomis in staying on the dark street with police and firemen around him, with his focus on Jamie's eyes as she is being drove away.

I completely agree with you guys. It was definitely an interesting read but the lore that started with the Halloween 4 that was actually made is way more satisfying, and a flesh-and-blood Michael with a driven Loomis chasing after him is the heart of the series. It just feels more satisfying overall to have Crispy Mikey slicin ass with no fucks given.
That sounds like a interesting script and loved how you guys described the scenes.

A couple of years ago, I purchased and read the novelization, Halloween IV -- The Ultimate Edition by Nicholas Grabowsky...it was good, scary, faithful to Carpenter and Hill's original ideas, and would have made a better film than the one We got. However, of the non-JLC films, this was my favorite. If only the mask had been authentic to the original...would have made a big difference. Still like it, though. It was atmospherically creepy and Gothic...like the 1978 classic.

BUJILOU -- I must have been lucky around 2014-16, because I managed to order and purchase a brand new, quality softcover from Barnes & Noble, I believe, for a little over $20 dollars. NOW, online, it costs the price of meeting God in Heaven. I have the copy on my desk, and it has been printed in e-book (supposedly, it's on Kindle) form in 2013. The website that is connected w/ Grabowsky and other writers is www.downwarden.com, published through Diverse Media. I hope this helps. Maybe you should try the library, if all else fails? What happens to that poor preacher whom Dr. Loomis meets on his way to Hadddonfield is horrifying/terrifying. The scene in the police station house in the novel is something to read and remember...unlike in the film, you find out what Michael did to ALL of them...that would have been so scary and horrifying to see in the movie...the ending is even more sad than the one in the film. I do recommend reading it, if you can...a good primer for Halloween Returns in October. Good luck.

Something tells me, had Carpenter/Hill kept the rights, had this script made it to filming it would've had a ton of re-writes in-house, like Nigel Kneale's script for Halloween III did.

Y'all are from Winchester Kentucky? My mom's side was originally from there!! My grandma had a house right off of 89 on Jackson Street.. she passed a couple years ago but my mom took us to Cincinnati with my dad back when I was 8 in 1996 but we still visit every now and then
Unrealistic.. And showing Jason as a movie character? Come on! Plus John Carpenter knows Friday the 13th is a Halloween ripoff so I doubt a ton of this would make it.
Jason wasn't in the movie, they were watching him at the Drive In, i think its a nod/shot at him being a Michael imitation

This movie sounds so epic but it feels like if they would have given into the whole Season of The Witch Anthology theme with it being the essences of Halloween like Goblins, Ghosts and Witches. Honestly this would have made Michael pretty much Pennywise not a bad thing but I'd prefer a Boogeyman over a cosmic demon. Some of these scenes sound hecka experimental tho good read tho.

I wrote a script for Halloween 6. It opened with The coven of the Thorn, consisting of 3 witches and a warlock master. There was 1 thorn recovered from the crown of thorns that Jesus of Nazareth was crucified with. They crushed the thorn into dust, and mixed it into 1 piece of candy on Halloween night. There was a prophecy that read, whomever consumed the thorn, would turn into an unstoppable shape of evil, that was forced to kill every member of their family. Once the prophecy was complete, the curse of thorn would spred to 6 other children, because this is part 6..... Eventually, the curse would continue to spred, always by 6, till finally, all that remains are the coven and the cursed. . Michael Myers was trick or treating, and happened to be the unlucky child who ate the candy..... Once he was captured at the end of part 5, the warlock, "the man in black", broke him out to continue his killing spree, and spred the curse.

This script could be tweaked and turned into something good. Take out the growing fingers and the becoming a giant and making people tap toes then the movie could be something good.
