My first thought too, but just imagine getting into Harvard just to do art 💀
@@eggroll1090 im not familiar with harvard but why is it bad to just do art ?
Szlendak, You’re going to such a prestigious school which requires so much effort to get into just to pursue a career which will do minimal difference whether you got an education on it or not. It’s not necessarily art is a bad career, it’s more so you’re paying so much in tuition for a career that will most likely take you almost your whole life to pay off the student debt.
When you apply for a job as say a doctor, Harvard would definitely be a top pick of school because employers know it’s an incredibly hard school to get into. Where as in the art industry they don’t care what education you got, they just want to see what you can do, unless it’s an art teacher but even then community college would already suffice.
Egg Roll Well its also because if you wanna study art u should go to an art specific school. Harvard is amazing for maths, sciences, law, stuff like that but im not sure about art.

History grad student here! The job market in academia is pretty tough in history (but that's probably applicable to most majors). Regardless, I've found that history majors do find jobs in other fields because of how much writing and argumentation is involved in the major. I know that these skills are desirable in business, government, and law (obviously), but I've known people who majored in history for their undergraduate degree and went on to go to medical school and other seemingly unrelated fields. I'm choosing the harder path (academia) because I love reading and producing research in the historical discipline (and I'm probably a masochist) but I know that when I'm ready to hit the job market I do have other options available to me if academia doesn't work out.

it's not really ironic. Top schools tend to have really high standards so while he may have excelled in a normal school, going into a top school where standards are higher, its naturally harder to do well.
some of these majors are crazy hard. college in general and some professors are just evil with the grading/tests
@@user-tm8ki6tm9j that's what makes it ironic
