A university is a school made up of several colleges. “Harvard College” is the undergraduate school of Harvard- regardless of major, all undergrads go there unlike many other universities across the nation.
Universities are made of different schools . The school for undergrads is a college and the rest are postgraduate schools. That's why people say "law school", "med school" etc.
History grad student here! The job market in academia is pretty tough in history (but that's probably applicable to most majors). Regardless, I've found that history majors do find jobs in other fields because of how much writing and argumentation is involved in the major. I know that these skills are desirable in business, government, and law (obviously), but I've known people who majored in history for their undergraduate degree and went on to go to medical school and other seemingly unrelated fields. I'm choosing the harder path (academia) because I love reading and producing research in the historical discipline (and I'm probably a masochist) but I know that when I'm ready to hit the job market I do have other options available to me if academia doesn't work out.

My husband graduated in CS with his bachelors and started $118k around 5 years ago. I think it really depends on your specific field and what company you are working with. He's had a few raises since with a pretty significant raise after the completion of his masters degree.
Hi may I ask what your husband’s specific field was in computer science ☺️☺️
Do Harvard students call the university "the college" because that's slick
no, there are different schools within the university like SEAS which is mentioned, as well as harvard college
It's called code switching. They like calling it the college because it avoids saying "Harvard".
A university is a school made up of several colleges. “Harvard College” is the undergraduate school of Harvard- regardless of major, all undergrads go there unlike many other universities across the nation.
Universities are made of different schools . The school for undergrads is a college and the rest are postgraduate schools. That's why people say "law school", "med school" etc.
the college usually refers to the college of liberal arts and sciences specifically. otherwise they'll say they're in engineering, nursing, or HBS

@@xXMeepzXx Any undergraduate degree can apply for Medical school though, you only need to have the pre-requirements.

Even with a Harvard degree, I think that Sociology major has too high of expectations thinking he’s going to make 80k-100k starting off.
if you listened to the video, he clearly stated that if it were at another school, he’d make prob 40k out of college. But he knows that consulting and finance firms recruit heavily at Harvard and don’t care about ones major
