Grade 6th on Khan Academy: By the 6th grade, you're becoming a sophisticated mathemagician. You'll be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide any non-negative numbers (including decimals and fractions) that any grumpy ogre throws at you. Mind-blowing ideas like exponents (you saw these briefly in the 5th grade), ratios, percents, negative numbers, and variable expressions will start being in your comfort zone. Most importantly, the algebraic side of mathematics is a whole new kind of fun! And if that is not enough, we are going to continue with our understanding of ideas like the coordinate plane (from 5th grade) and area while beginning to derive meaning from data! (Content was selected for this grade level based on a typical curriculum in the United States.)
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. It's for historical reasons I suppose - including poltics. A series on the history of the metric system would be quite instructive though. For instance the the 'gradian' system (which almost no one uses now) divides the circle into 400 parts. That related to the circumference of the Earth in the new-fangled metric units of length (c.1790)
1 'grad' would be 100 km (give or take) therefore
    0.01 grad = 1km and
    0.00001 grad = 1m.

you will find that across the us and the world both systems are used you will also find that the use of fractions very often make communication at lot more efficient/ quicker. eg; how much cake is left a, zero point five, b, half (you tell me which is a better method of communicating in this instance). I too used to dismiss this aspect of the usa but now realise that it is often a better system as it keeps the best of the old and takes the best of the new.

Or if you want to sound really fancy and posh you can say "arithmetic" in the way it sounds when it's an adjective, but when referring to it as a noun. Like "We shall study... arithmehtic!" Super posh.

It should be said that the arithmetic mean is rather natural: If I imagine the numbers as point particles of identical mass along a line (with some chosen units of length) then the arithmetic mean is the same as the centre of mass.
