I completely believe in the Bennington Triangle. My grandfather, George Joseph Regan, was a lawyer in New York City who built a vacation home in Pownal, VT, and was there with his family when Paula Jean Weldon went missing. He joined one of the first search parties to search for her. He told my father when he was older that there was a triangle in Vermont where weird things happened and how he’d never forgotten how shocked he was they never found a trace of Paula Jean.

I do find the music to be really distracting, and I can’t focus on listening to the actual story. Maybe it’s just me, and that’s totally fine!
I'm glad you take the sane route to these instances, they don't need to be fantastical (read paranormal) to be fascinating or tragic and honestly its far more respectful.
Exactly this. Four of those people got lost in the woods, the only somewhat odd case is the chap who got off the bus one stop early (so should have been found at some point really, as he was in/near civilisation)

It's been over 70 years, and in the 70 years since the last victim probably a hundred thousand have hiked the AT and Long Trail by thru, section and day hikers. I think it's safe to say the curse of the Bennington triangle is over.
And, there were a lot of people living around there and working in the woods before that, and locals hiking it, before that. Just because not everyone disappears doesn't mean someone else won't.
This channel just popped up yesterday, with the story of "Otter". Must be a suggestion based on my love for Mr Ballen and hiking. Liking the channel so far, and may end up watching/listening to all. Just not while hiking, lol. I'm enjoying the stories about people, and the way Kyle relays them.
Fellow Vermonter, loving these stories! My dad thru-hiked the AT in 2017 and I joined him on the Long Trail at Glastonbury Mountain. I'd heard not to weqr red on Glastonbury Mountain...so I wore all pink. 😂 We slept in the lean-to, I woke up during the night needing a pee. I wasn't about to go down the hill to the outhouse, so I hopped off the shelter and went in the bushes. As i was going I felt a presence right next to me and heard the bushes moving...might have just been a bird or small animal but it felt huge and ominous. I booked it back into my sleeping bag. The next morning, instead of being woken up by birds singing, it was absolutely silent and it stayed weirdly silent all the way off the mountain. I've spent my fair share of nights in the woods but whatever was next to me in those bushes srill creeps me out to this day!
One of your best Kyle I’m planning a 2024 thru and these stories fascinate me - looking forward to trekking the triangle! Keep ‘em coming this genre of trail lore will get you more followers

Vermont has seriously crazy weather swings. In 24 -48 hours you can practically get it all.I believe one of these disappearances sparked the formation of the Vermont State Police. That’s why it was National guard, volunteers and such doing the searches, the Troopers didn’t exist yet
Kyle you should continue making these types of videos. Yes, they will be dark and ultimately sad videos, but its very important that people understand the risk involved w/hiking. This is an extremely important subject you're covering and w/your expert opinion describing what could have been/what you would have done differently you may ultimately be saving lives. Keep up the great work!! 👏🏼
Great video. You should definitely do a video on the lady that was thru hiking the Appalachian trail with the help of her husband. She went missing in Maine I believe, and was found dead less than a mile off trail with her tent set up. It's just such an odd story. It still doesn't make sense.

Born and raised in the town over from glostenbury, I have hunted it since I was born, seen alot of creepy things up there and the story's my grandfather had told me it's just crazy and trust me Bigfoot might be a factor to. Also loved this video thank you for explaining it so well!
About the kid it could just be an accident: as a child time passed way too slow for me, and once my family left me on a carousel for less than a minute so they could pay for my tickets and it felt like an eternity so I got off the ride and walked away. Fortunately people saw me and brought me back to my family, but if the 8 year old was alone for an hour and wanted to go to the mountains, he might have gotten bored quite fast and decided to take a walk. Then it would have been easy for him to get lost, not following the tracks but rather feeling adventurous... so a recipe for a disaster. He could've been kidnapped, yes, but he could definitely also have simply wandered off, gotten lost and then either gotten attacked by an animal or simply walked further into the wilderness making it impossible for him to be found again... Either way his disappearance is heartbreaking and I hope that the family gets answers someday! 💔
Fabulous recounting. Familiar with the material. This is my home turf- Though I was native Upper Valley. 70's and 80's. Glad I was not aware of this when lost for a few hours, around Benson, turkey hunting ~ 12 yrs old. Not the same place- close enough, it would have been for a lost, imaginative 12 year old.
Kyle, the last time i was up there with a buddy of mine we dry camped both nights off trail. There’s several little campsites all up and down that stretch from rte 9 to the top. You probably already know that. First night we camped at some point where we could see wind turbines and then second night a different spot. Great time! Went up the tower, checked out the view, etc.. Last day, we’re like a mile away from the trailhead and I twisted my ankle something so fierce that my ankle still isnt right. That was September 2020. Creepy place for sure. Thanks so much Kyle for this genre! NQU
Smashing job! I heard about the triangle from a friend who used to be a GMC and AMC caretaker and trail maintainer. I wanted to camp on top of Glastonberry on my thru hike last year for this reason 😂 - mileage didn’t work out…next time definitely will.
Love that you did a video on this!! I've been fascinated by the Bennington Triangle for a while, especially since I had the realization that the AT goes right through the heart of it. There's definitely something weird about that area... besides all those unexplained disappearances, if I remember correctly, wasn't it on Glastenbury Mountain that you saw that weird shofar guy and had that too-close-for-comfort moose encounter right at the summit? There's no telling the kind of weird stuff that could happen out there... 😁
You find stories I've never heard before and even if I have heard the story you seem to have details I've never heard and its always interesting. Thanks for the great content.
Interesting. I grew up in the Hudson valley and honestly past Putnam Valley all the way to around there on either side of the Hudson river. It gets super sketchy. It reminds me of Idaho and Nebraska. It's just very isolated but the thick forrest .. some of those towns are super spooky. You gotta have your wits about you and a weapon around that AT. I spent my first 25 Years really hiking around the NY at I almost never went without some sort of hatchet, machete, gun, or at least hunting knife.
Kyle, that was a great video. You should do one on the 8-year old who went missing at Spence Field on the AT in 1969. The book, "Lost" is about creepy disappearances in the Smokies. Thanks!
Excellent and fascinating vid. This case has always fascinated me. I'd hike either trail to be honest, too much joy comes from hiking to be scared off. But something IMO was up. Too many coincidences over a short period of time (relatively)
I've backpacked that area a number of times and don't believe in any mysterious triangle, but I noticed an abundance of predators as well as trails that aren't well marked in some areas. Other than that I never noticed anything mysterious.
The story of Weldon doesn’t add up. A young woman native to Vermont decided to go hiking with no supplies, wearing clothes not adequate for the storm (which granted she seems to not have known about at the time she took off but once she was at the forest she most certainly did) and decides to just go into the woods anyways alone when it was already getting dark? And by then knowing it was already getting cold??? Really?
thats crazy!! I actually got lost in that same section in 2005. We couldn't understand why. We ended up having to go down the side of the mtn to the nearest rd.
I think you might have hit your stride here; while I find your slightly salty (like your mom), sarcastic delivery pretty entertaining, I think this 'true trail crime' genre is something unusual and pretty nifty. I went here after hearing about the disappearances and found a mansion on an incredible acreage deep in the Triangle that wasn't on the map and was guarded by armed guards dressed as power pole workers. The scary part is that I'm actually not making this up. I left and as I was on the way out, saw a giant, eerie obelisk in the distance. It took forever to find it but it was a war monument to the revolutionary Battle of Bennington and it was blatantly Masonic and esoteric. Every town nearby was mega rich and gave me the creeps.
@@Darkstar3434 how far into the Triangle have you been? I went down a dirt path that butted up against a mountain and had to keep going until I was able to turn around, and when I was able to turn around, thats where I found it all. Trust is irrational....I am one of the morons of which you speak, or was. The situations I put my self and my little boy in when I was in the back woods was, in retrospect, insane and I truly thank The Lord that I am alive.
Cool, I'm glad I watched this AFTER my thru hike. I hiked through the triangle on a beautiful day and had a lovely time on Glastonbury Mt and I'm very glad I experienced nothing creepy. There was even a big ole doggo up there to greet me! When I first clicked on this video, I actually thought you were going to be talking about a stretch of trail in Virginia where there have been multiple murders (specifically the Wapiti Shelter area, and the Atkins area)
I wish to hear about the doggo lol
...was it ... a black dog??
You tell the stories well. It's a good fill for your content. Looking forward to future hikes from you! Was good to see you in Miranda's live stream chat yesterday!

@@KyleHatesHiking That is awesome! Looking forward to it!

I am also a Vermonter 🎉 I lived in Bennington for a period but was raised in Chittenden county. I listen to missing person cases often but you did a great deeper dig, more info than I have ever heard of.
This comment is 100% meant to be constructive. I recently came across your channel and I find the stories fascinating, and you come across very genuine and likable.
Dude, you're about to smash through 50k subs soon, well done. I don't think it's from heckling viewers to subscribe, I think it's videos like this. Really enjoy your content, stuff like this is super interesting and it's not just hikers who enjoy hearing it no doubt.
Nope...I'm a subscribed heckler......KYYYYYYLLE...KYYYYYYYLLE!.....KYYYYYYYYYLLE!!!

Correct. I'm no hiker!

@@Johndoho yeah the storytelling genre is a huge hit. Kyle has done well, he’s made a lot of right choices to please the almighty algo.
It's been over 70 years, and in the 70 years since the last victim probably a hundred thousand have hiked the AT and Long Trail by thru, section and day hikers. I think it's safe to say the curse of the Bennington triangle is over.
Or is it?
And, there were a lot of people living around there and working in the woods before that, and locals hiking it, before that. Just because not everyone disappears doesn't mean someone else won't.
My socks disappeared there
@@DingChavez-m1x You're a person of interest. They will be found and justice will be served.

Hi Kyle. Thank you for sharing this story. All your stories are learning lessons for me, and I really appreciate.
Thanks for watching Ed! Good luck out there!

You're crushing it with these cold cases. Great job! Was glad to see you represent LMNT on another video. LMNT is huge in the keto world. Share some with a salty friend lol they are really good the other video disappeared as I was about to comment. RUclips has been weird for me lately. Anyway, great stories!
That glimpse of Flossy at 3:45 😍 I miss him on this channel...
But for real, these videos are great and so interesting!
3 points on a map form a triangle??? That's crazy! 🤣
JK but I had to poke a little fun here. You can more likely than not do the same thing with other disappearances in popular hiking and camping locations, I'm really not sure why this one gets singled out so much, but here we are. Great video, love your channel
Gonna start volunteering to help search in these events, in my local community. Honestly crazy how these things happen so fast
Thanks for making this video. I hike this area often (I'm out of North Adams) and knew nothing about this. I found your channel yesterday and I've been binge-watching your mystery videos. Next, I'm moving on to your hikes to compare notes and experiences. Great channel.
Vermont has seriously crazy weather swings. In 24 -48 hours you can practically get it all.I believe one of these disappearances sparked the formation of the Vermont State Police. That’s why it was National guard, volunteers and such doing the searches, the Troopers didn’t exist yet
exactly
When I was there last September, for my two week vacation, all it did was rain. I still love Vermont. ♥️♥️♥️
Found your channel while just skipping videos looking for interesting stuff and glad i found yours, great stories.!!
Agreed!
Great video. You should definitely do a video on the lady that was thru hiking the Appalachian trail with the help of her husband. She went missing in Maine I believe, and was found dead less than a mile off trail with her tent set up. It's just such an odd story. It still doesn't make sense.
I did a video on this story a month or so ago!
@@KyleHatesHiking just watched it. Thank you! Great content. I hiked the AT and PCT as well, so it's cool to see a fellow thru hiker make content on and about thru hiking in a unique way. Keep up the good work!
@@KyleHatesHiking Was this the lady nicknamed inchworm?
Born and raised in the town over from glostenbury, I have hunted it since I was born, seen alot of creepy things up there and the story's my grandfather had told me it's just crazy and trust me Bigfoot might be a factor to. Also loved this video thank you for explaining it so well!
After that teaser and you don't tell even one story? Let down.
I've had encounters with bigfoot. Two very close up intense ones. I believe you. What have you seen?
@@aubreyiris1479 🤣
Started following recently. Love the spooky trail stories, even if I've heard some of them before. Keep em coming!
NQU
Creepy!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Awesome story-telling…
You are so close to 50k! Super excited for you Kyle, great job!😁
Couldn't of done it without all the awesome people who watch, so thank you Valerie!
Still catching up on all your vids! Interesting stories!
Smashing job! I heard about the triangle from a friend who used to be a GMC and AMC caretaker and trail maintainer. I wanted to camp on top of Glastonberry on my thru hike last year for this reason 😂 - mileage didn’t work out…next time definitely will.
Every time I hear of Glastonbury mountain, I think for sure it's in the UK somewhere.. 😶
Dude, killing it with these stories.
thanks Matt!
Great research and delivery, enjoying your videos!
Thank you!!
That was on Stratton mountain, but very close by!
Very sad stories of the people who disappeared. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of these cases.
Killin’ it with these storytelling vids, my dude! 🤙🏼
Thanks so much! Glad most folks have been enjoying them
Dudesville station homie...Kool jerking all the way....
Thanks!
I've never heard of it, I'll have to check it out! Thanks Billy

Your doing a great job .. Ty and keep them coming
Really enjoying these stories amongst your gear videos and shenanigans. Good luck, nearing 50K!!!
Thank you!!
Can you please put the temperatures in celsius if possible too on the screen? I love your channel immensely. Tysm for all you do.
Another very interesting tale! You're really good at this story telling stuff.
Hey thanks so much Jim!
Really?
And that guy, that , allegedly, was the last to talk to her...
Killing it with these stories!
Thanks Larry! Always appreciate you watching!
thats crazy!! I actually got lost in that same section in 2005. We couldn't understand why. We ended up having to go down the side of the mtn to the nearest rd.
Whhhhaaaattt???!!!

I think you might have hit your stride here; while I find your slightly salty (like your mom), sarcastic delivery pretty entertaining, I think this 'true trail crime' genre is something unusual and pretty nifty. There's a guy (Base Camp Chris) I catch occasionally who does sasquatch stories in a spooky way and you might borrow a bit of his staging and ambience for these.

Forget the haters and keep doing this! Love me some crime stories (and hiking, too!)
Every town nearby was mega rich and gave me the creeps.
this is a lie lmao
@@Darkstar3434 have you been out there? If not, I implore you, please visit.
@@jamesc.e.s.4551 i have been there are no armed guards i can assure you that lmao. this area is also nit rich at all, i live here
@@Darkstar3434 how far into the Triangle have you been? I went down a dirt path that butted up against a mountain and had to keep going until I was able to turn around, and when I was able to turn around, thats where I found it all. And yes, the area around where the Bennington monument is is financially loaded, and that monument is demonic as hell.
Find any dirt road that's as wide as your car and just go down it until you come out the other side. The place is way larger than you can imagine.

Interesting stories. I grew up in Rutland, Vt in the 60's and 70's and was a member of the Green Mountain Club and I have never heard any of these stories before. I do remember backpaacking thru the Glastenbury area and spending a cold night with my hiking partner and 8-10 others at the open-front shelter near the top of the mountain. It snowed that night and we were all huddled together and miserable.
I feel like the trap music doesn’t really fit lol
This reminds me of Michigan. I've lived in Michigan my whole life. Let me tell you, Michigan in the wintertime is no joke. We even have a Michigan triangle. And people do disappear here all the time.
