Slack line is important! You have to “give” The bait slack after every reel or twitch in order to get the biggest glide. So much of it is feel and getting a feel for what the bait is doing. That’s why being able to see your bait is very important when you’re learning to fish it. I basically go half a revolution with the reel while pulling the rod tip slightly. I’ll occasionally add in an erratic twitch. Just take the bait out and fish it, watch what it’s doing and make sure to fish it around cover. Some glide baits can get extremely expensive which makes people leery of throwing them around heavy cover but that’s the best place to throw them. I use 17-25lb fluoro
@@MattMillardOutdoors Thanks for the instruction I tried to watch how you fished it it’s hard to see from behind . It’s April 18 th now are the bass still up shallow at Watauga ? I caught a big largemouth 22” about 6.5 lbs to 7 she was full of eggs released her quick that was Easter Sunday haven’t been since! I figured she was probably on the nest! I would guess the smallmouth are on the bank as well?
It's amazing how a small fish will hit a big bait. I can't count how many 10-12 in fish I've caught on a Deps 250. I've watched 12 in smallmouth chase a Baitsmith Magnum, a bait that it couldn't even fit in its mouth. But a bass isn't a cognitive thinking creature. They simply react to their environment, they have no idea how big of little they are. The glide bait bite is so addictive. After I caught my first one I was hooked, now I have to make myself put the big swimbaits down and fish smart.
Great job excellent day I enjoyed the video keep em comming hope to see you in the water!
Good video.. I like those "big and scary" fish..lol keeps ya on you toes.
