I am a Scot, but now am an Australian citizen living in a truly wonderful country. lucky me..........
I saw The Mamas and Papas live at Oregon State University. They were fabulous. My favorite singing performers of all time. I'll never forget how much I was moved by them.
+Danny Stanhope Mama Cass has/had one of the most...if not... THE... most powerful voice(s) in all of pop music!!! And...I don't throw around compliments like that, lightly!!!
I am so thankful that my parents always played music at home. I think it has given me a greater appreciation for all music. Born in 1979 and I know more bands from the 50s, 60s and 70s then any other decade.
Winnie Wallace... I remember the first time I heard this song way back in the sixties..I was sitting with a group of other girls on a factory conveyer belt assembling plastic mouldings.Music was always played loudly to drone out the factory noises. Suddenly this amazing song came on the speakers.you could have heard a pin drop, nobody did a thing from start to finish, everybody sat with their mouths hanging open..Each time I hear it I'm reminded of that lovely sunny morning, the great mates I had and the carefree days of the sixties. Thank you ....The Momas & Papas ... Your music lives on.
I love this song and "California Dreaming." Cass Elliot has always been my favorite of the entire group! I liked her attitude and personality! She still sang even though people razzed her about her weight! I think she looked great! I loved her outfits as well! Everybody doesn't have to be a size "0" to be pretty and cute! Cass was both! The other members were good too, but Cass has always and will continue to be my favorite! Her smile was contagious!! She has a lovely daughter as well! The group produced amazing songs and their vocals together were awesome!!
I worked with a moderately child with autism, Some language, HE LOVED THIS SONG. Every day it was monday he would start singing AHH AHHHH AHHH AHH AHHH.... This kid.. Every time I hear this song and it's monday... I literally think of this kid...
TheRadetzyMarch It so isn't. I hear both. Actually on this one, Michelle predominates. They both knew how to sing. Cass would have gone on to have a big solo career if she had lived. Michelle was a pretty singer.
Even after listening to this for probably 500 times, those haunting harmonies never cease to impress me. Michelle may not have been gifted with a stellar voice, but she was an important part of those harmonies. The overtones!!!

three months later its hard to distinguish anything right now. I was born in 66 and watching this they seem so naïve, though people are clearly just as naïve presently if you believe this is a scam. its the same way the Holocaust began: people believing things they shouldn't and not questioning authority. its sad so many people still don't understand we ae just being used.
Do you want to feel good vibes? Have your favorite drink at night, turn off the lights, look out of your window, trying to see the stars. Take a deep breath...this sing will move you to GOLD times.
I'm only here because it's a rainy Monday morning and the lyrics just popped into my head when I was chatting with my college aged daughter in the kitchen. I thought I'd play it for her. We loved the groovy dance moves. 😁
The Mamas and the Papas were an extraordinary group. Their harmonizing skills were superb and they all were phenomenal vocalists, especially Mama Cass. I absolutely love their music.🎼🎶🎵🎶🎼🎵🎼🎶🎵🎼🎶🎙🎤
As a teenager I never saw the bands or singers, I just had a transistor radio in my bedroom that played all night. I didn't care how they looked as I couldn't see them. I just cared about the music
I really like your comment. Im 54. Growing up, I shared a room with a sister who was 12 years older. She had a little clock radio which was tuned to only 2 stations; WPLJ and WNEW... (Queens, NY) Mama Cass impressed me long before I ever saw a picture of her. I was not at all disappointed when I finally did. I saw truth, talent, soul...and that cute lil foot thing!
I was in my teens and in high school when I "discovered" their music. This was in the 80s and unusual music taste for someone my age . I studied classical piano and therefore have a relative good sense of music of quality. Now in my 50s I still get the same thrill as I had then, if not more. What an amazing and harmonious voice Cass Eliott had, but sadly the world had lost an incredible talent
Interesting thing I noticed-this placed higher on the charts than "California Dreamin'", but "California Dreamin'" is the one everyone remembers. Still, incredible song-my favorite Mamas and Papas song!
That is what is most amazing: 2 years! It feels more like ten. The song-writing, arrangements and voices were amazing and leave a sun-soaked legacy. The Mamas and the Papas's songs filled my youth.
My lady that was at my side for 20 years had died early on Tuesday morning, three weeks ago, we would sing along to this song in the car together, the words now mean a lot more to me than they did before. Great song

If the reply was from either of you, I would be really happy to talk with you. My email address is........ brian.minter1(at) bigpond.com For some reason I do not have the AT symbol on my tablet, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.
Would like to hear from you. I don,t at this stage know which country you are both from, but I am guessing the US. If you like, especially Mama Cass, then you are a friend of mine.
I am a Scot, but now am an Australian citizen living in a truly wonderful country. lucky me..........
I saw here when I was in college when she was with the Mugwumps and said to myself... I hadn't seen the last of her. What a voice she had!
Its crazy how many people come back to this everyday... this song is a masterpiece!
Every Monday!
Beautiful, Precious memories of my youth. There will NEVER EVER be times like these AGAIN!!
My gosh, the harmonies are just mind blowing!!
I saw The Mamas and Papas live at Oregon State University. They were fabulous. My favorite singing performers of all time. I'll never forget how much I was moved by them.
Wish I had seen them live, maybe in heaven.
so so envious of you, how amazing you got to see them, what a great memory to have
Timeless. Such a melancholy song yet makes me feel so good. I was in kindergarten when this came out and I loved it even then.
Born in 1999 and always loved 60s music it's one of my favourites eras of music.
EASILY...
one of the most BEAUTIFUL songs written in the English language.
Love... Love...Love...Mama Cass!!!
+Danny Stanhope Mama Cass has/had one of the most...if not...
THE...
most powerful voice(s) in all of pop music!!! And...I don't throw around compliments like that, lightly!!!
+Danny Stanhope , Yes, but I'd rate 12:30 even better.
+Danny Stanhope Judith Durham..but yes Mama Cass sang effortlessly
+Danny Stanhope Agree. An epic all time greatest song !
Good song but I like California Dreaming better.
I am so thankful that my parents always played music at home. I think it has given me a greater appreciation for all music. Born in 1979 and I know more bands from the 50s, 60s and 70s then any other decade.
The best! The absolute best song the Mamas and Papas ever recorded!
As a 52 year old respect there music both females beautiful
There's something mysteriously beautiful about this song.
yes it was about Denny and Michelle cheating together
MoonMan it's over the moon🙄
Demons
Nice song this but sadly Denny, Cass and John are no longer with us which means only Michelle is left.
@@beachwalker2574 Whoa so wasn't Cass married to Denny. How could you not is the question
Can't believe this has more than 50 years! Awesome music never dies.
Pablo Pazos one
53 now.
More than 50 years, and the only survivor is Michelle.
Right?!
Great song! Love this group, especially Cass and Denny
I grew up listening to my mother play this record every weekend. ❤
My dad would play this in his 1964 Chevy nova growing up, I’m only 28 now but growing up listening to this just brings back memories
Sweet tunes of the sixties will never grow old.
Still loving mama cass!
Beautiful voices. Beautiful people. Beautiful vibes.
These are the days when people truly sang with their souls :)
Great days very very sadly missed wish I could go back in time
Those were the days when melody, lyrics and harmony were exceptional things.
And many remember with their souls the great times and people of youth...was 18/19 back then.
That now sums up the world debbie so sad the world is now in turmoil 😥😥
Remember setting in English class humming this song. Where the hell did the time go? So glad I was alive during the 60s, best music EVER
bo brand truly great days
👍
My best decision was being born in 1960! Saw the good stuff, get to miss the planetary meltdown!
I wish I lived through the 60s!
Timeless. This tune will still slam 500 yrs from now.
We had the best music of a generation ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love this song and "California Dreaming." Cass Elliot has always been my favorite of the entire group! I liked her attitude and personality! She still sang even though people razzed her about her weight! I think she looked great! I loved her outfits as well! Everybody doesn't have to be a size "0" to be pretty and cute! Cass was both! The other members were good too, but Cass has always and will continue to be my favorite! Her smile was contagious!! She has a lovely daughter as well! The group produced amazing songs and their vocals together were awesome!!
i agree with you a 100% shes my favorite two
They had it all so sad it only lasted 2 years 😥😥
Yes girl!!!! Exactly
Even today, people her size can barely make it in the music business.
I second everything you wrote!! Long live Cass Elliott!
I worked with a moderately child with autism, Some language, HE LOVED THIS SONG. Every day it was monday he would start singing AHH AHHHH AHHH AHH AHHH.... This kid.. Every time I hear this song and it's monday... I literally think of this kid...
i dont get it
+Evs Sarah SO nice..:)
Thanks. :) Alejandra De Olivera
+Evs Sarah A moderately child?
+Evs Sarah A moderately child?
I have loved this song ever since I was a kid in the 60’s, loved their harmonies.
I swear, their music is evergreen... never gets old
Sad that Michelle is the only one still alive. But their music will live forever.
wow, I didn't know this, and this just made me sad. I would love to see them live. :(
Cass and Michelle's background vocals are angelic.
When I think of stereotypical 60s music Cass and Michelle's vocals are the first thing that come to mind.
60s were a great time to be a teenager so much great music 👍💖
Laa LAa ,La La La Laaa
@@tubester4567 Ba da ba da da da
TheRadetzyMarch It so isn't. I hear both. Actually on this one, Michelle predominates. They both knew how to sing. Cass would have gone on to have a big solo career if she had lived. Michelle was a pretty singer.
Said it before and I'll say it again,"Legends don't die; they get passed down to future music lovers."❤️
The harmony of them is incredible…..I wish there was was a group like them now….this song could make you warm inside and smile
Even after listening to this for probably 500 times, those haunting harmonies never cease to impress me. Michelle may not have been gifted with a stellar voice, but she was an important part of those harmonies. The overtones!!!
harmonies were from another universe, so brilliant
For me, 1965-1970 will always be the best 5 year period for music. So much talent and amazing songs in that stretch of time
I'd say 60's to 90's but agree.
AGREED 100%
my parents generation
Without a doubt.
I was born on March 25, 1965 and I'm so connected to this music, styles, cars etc you name it, I'm am...
The 60's had some pure, timeless songs with exquisite melodies and harmonies. This song takes me back to that time, even though I wasn't there.
Lynch Gang present. What a great song and band
My thing in COVID-19 lockdown is trying to distinguish Monday from Sunday or Tuesday...
MY thing with the beer virus SCAMDEMIC is dealing with all the stupidly inane rules, especially that mask bit, totally unnecessary.....give me back my freedom Darkocrat Demons.
I been that way the last ten years.
The days all seem to blend, don't they?
Alistair McElwee 😂 Isn’t it crazy. I said to my husband the other day, “ Today feels like Saturday.” He said because it is. I didn’t have a clue.
three months later its hard to distinguish anything right now.
Another favorite by #MamaCassElliott and #MamasAndPappas. Oneof #premier music groups of my generation. #Timeless classic 😊❤😊❤
Every time I come back to a Mamas and the Papas song, Im reminded of how great the sound and voices were. Also how good looking Denny Doherty was.
Thank you, David for showing me this song.
Wonderful group, voices and harmony! Fantastic!
THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS, EPOCH, ONE GROUP OF NOT ROUND MORE ...
FABULOUS MUSIC !!!
LONGINGS ETERNAL FOREVER !!!
HUGS FROM BRAZIL,
ROSANGELA D'ORO
As a teenager I never saw the bands or singers, I just had a transistor radio in my bedroom that played all night. I didn't care how they looked as I couldn't see them. I just cared about the music
Most of us did .....
I was a child when that song was always on the radio. Along with so many more, hearing it, brings really wonderful memories to mind.
10 June 1966 - Mamas & Papas won gold record for "Monday, Monday", exactly 50 years ago today
Interesting thing I noticed-this placed higher on the charts than "California Dreamin'", but "California Dreamin'" is the one everyone remembers. Still, incredible song-my favorite Mamas and Papas song!
Very true Molly. Monday Monday was their biggest hit but California Dreaming has continued to endure as their best song
Too bad we couldn't go back then knowing what we know now.
I so agree....I was 9 when this came out. so much was going to happen in my life
Television too. What a collision of greatness....
Wonderful harmonization on a beautiful song. Just two years of existence, and left a fantastic legacy.
WILL ALWAYS BE PLAYED
They are legends now :D rip all and may Michelle have a peaceful life.
laracamargo
That is what is most amazing: 2 years! It feels more like ten. The song-writing, arrangements and voices were amazing and leave a sun-soaked legacy. The Mamas and the Papas's songs filled my youth.
They sound fantastic!!! Beautiful band and blending voices!!
Danny's voice is so powerful and hypnotizing and his cute head dancing movements are so innocent and pure
Definitely the best period for music.... folk, counter-culture, and don't forget MOTOWN!!
Alan White
Speaking of MOTOWN..
I'm from there, the also populous MOTOR CITY...
💓😍😘💋
Motown makes me so happy!!!
My lady that was at my side for 20 years had died early on Tuesday morning, three weeks ago, we would sing along to this song in the car together, the words now mean a lot more to me than they did before. Great song
I'm sorry for your loss. Cherish the memories.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Condolences.
58 years ago tomorrow on Saturday, May 7, 1966 Mamas and The Papas hits number one with Monday, Monday. How I wish 1966 was here to stay.
I’m a 80s teen, but still remeber these songs of the late 60s when I was so young. Time flies.
Cast Elliot, we lost you way to earlier at 32. Your lovely voice will always be remembered.
@WMFG Ne Oublie idiot
So sad 😢
Ever notice that a lot of artist died at the age of 32 back then?
Such Wonderful Harmonies; Love this Song 😃!
Yes yes this tune is magnificent indeed
Her voice is amazing ❤
Love this song. Timeless
