As a Max fan, I can honestly say that only now that Lewis is driving a slower package, I realise how good he actually is. Or, to formulate it better: I needed a reminder after those years of Mercedes domination… it tends to let you forget the driver’s skill. Anyway, the manner in which Lewis managed to not only manage those mediums but pull a fastest lap out of the bag in the end is truly impressive! It’s also interesting to see how Max’s driving style has evolved from that scrappy young risk-taker to a more cautious, smooth and polished style. Reminds me of Lewis, actually. Or at least it shows the different driving styles between an opportunist playing the short game and a champion playing the long game. … As for Charles, I really hope he’ll be able to cut through the Ferrari shenanigans and fight for the title next year… and I’m interested to see how his competition with Sainz pans out… it seems mister Smooth Operator has made more progress in putting his foot down when confronted with nonsensical decisions from the pit wall.
I wonder if RB will keep Perez in his seat until the season is over just to see if they can still get the 1-2 or whether they will fire him in the coming days, put Daniel in his seat and Lawson in the Alpha Tauri. Don't know if they care about the 1-2.
