When are people gonna realize what a producer puts on their master doesn't matter. Like at all. Not one single bit. The songs you hear are not mixed or mastered by the producer.
Don't confuse this with real mastering engineering my fellow producers. If you really want the industry sauce, learn about professional mixing and mastering. Just tryna help
i went to school for mastering and realized it wasn't for me. The amount of education and knowledge it takes to truly master a track is insane. As a producer the best thing to do is just level everything and send it to the artist along with the beat stems and leave it up to the professional
how much do you soft clip out? like how much do you turn your knobs. just wondering bc i’m new to mixing and mastering my own shit. you could check out my recent beat and lmk how my mixes sound? i always need extra ears. lmk i rlly could use more knowledge
@@kidcalvin7904 soft clipper at default settings will do just that, soft clip. it won't make your sound better, it'll just literally soft clip it. that means it won't hard clip, which is good. however, it's your mix that's important in the first place - a good mix technically doesn't 'need' mastering, it's usually just done to 'sweeten' the sound or 'glue' it all together. softclipper does neither of those. that being said, I do use the default on a lot of sounds and on my master, however, it is not really a mastering plugin. btw., you can do the same thing in wave shaper.
Cxdy cxdy has that on his master too. But Don't forget that his stems are mixed by an engineer and the final mix down, mastered by another engineer as well 😅
I am doing this for over half a year. I dont tweak anything on the soft clipper, but on the limiter I put down the att rel sustain at 0 and then I set the gain to peak at 0 db. Very simple and efficient way to master
Yo. It is for making it loud so artists can hear what it is going to sound like when the song is made. You send the artists the mixed but unmastered version. After the song is done they master them all together.
Some people produce their own beats and later on their own songs on there beats, the trick about is when it's in a beat stage it's always just a soft clipper and simple EQ to cut only the frequencies that normally we don't hear about 20hz and 19800hz The mastering part is 20 minutes of the final stage where you've got all the vocals recorded, cleaned up, processed & mixed up blended with the instrumental Beats don't need mastering just good rich sounding mixing.
An EQ without tweaking the settings does not do anything.Secondly, and most importantly, i can tell you that as a sound engineer, the first thing i do when i get these producers' stems is take all their mixing plugins off the master and the single tracks apart from the effects (Reverbs, Delays etc... to make sure i keep their groove.) If you listen to Melo's IG stories, his beats sound super muddy in the low end (low frequencies) and do not sound industry ready. A soft Clipper on your master will make your overall beat louder and give you the illusion it sounds better and punchy. Look up real techinques! It'll help you out on the long run :) Focus on levelling your sounds and making space in the frequency band with EQs on ALL sounds even the drums!
1) Maximus : clear master setting. Sometimes (Nick Mira style) 2) Fruity Limiter -3db on the ceiling knob to create vocalist space. Turn gain up a little for saturation. I don't like EQ on the master at all. Too much distortion. EQ is for mixer tracks imo.
@@splashgvng Doesn't work for me. I had a listen to your work.. very nice. Very lush and vibey. Maximus would F with your guitars a lot, so I think I know why you wouldn't use it.
