Minnie Small; thank you for creating this video, definitely one of my favorite tours that shows you don't have to have perfect pages every time. I didn't even notice the noise lol, wonderful vid!
the way you explained “it’s like asking my sketchbook a question” resonated so much with me, i have a completely new view on accepting my mistakes thank you! :)
You taught me what sketchbooks should be. I used to think they had to be totally coherent or perfect (and definitely made with a single medium). Thanks for ”freeing” my mind and making me WAY more comfortable with sketching.
Couldn't have said it better. I saw in another of her videos she says she randomly goes through a brand new sketch book and will put some paint, clippings, etc on random pages to establish randomness and eliminate pressure of making mistakes.. A starter step to get her going and get imperfection out of the way from the get-go. Or at least that's how I interpretated it ha ;) but I think that's pretty close to what she was trying to get across
I'm devastated because I purchased a Mossery sketchbook at your recommendation. I absolutely loved it and was filling it out faithfully, but, upon moving, it was lost. I hope to get a new one soon! Seeing yours reminded me of this sad memory, haha. But yours turned out lovely!
I love coming to your videos for advice, you always tackle such common, but difficult topics, and work through them with genuine grace. Every time I make a friend with an artist, or anyone considering art, I share your channel because you've helped me tremendously with my art and attitude towards it. Thank you!
Sometimes when i'm not home and don't have my earphones i have to mute the video, so thank you so much to always put subtitles on your videos ! Really appreciate it ❤
the way you describe your painting style around three minutes in really articulates how i like to paint myself , but have a hard time describing , so thank you !
It's amazing how different every artist works with their sketchbooks, I love seeing them and hearing what goes through the artist minds when working on it! Your sketchbooks are always a pleasure to look trough, Minnie! I'm happy you're feeling better about your art :)
I think this video and the sketchbook together illustrate (pun intended) your growth as a person and as an artist. I am new at doing art as "art", and I was under the impression that sketchbooks are for the purpose of a)building a habit of drawing/painting etc every day, and for b)trying out new things. And when you do that, some will be good and some will be awful or somewhere in-between. That you were willing to share the sketchbook and embrace and "redeem" your "mistakes" says a lot. Putting quotes around the word mistakes is huge -- those aren't mistakes, they are stepping stones to success:) . I totally love the pig ones, all of them. Looking forward to seeing another one of your sketchbooks or studies you make along the way.
My gawd I LOVE your stream of consciousness!!! You’re amazing and I can totally keep up. My friends always tell me I have conversations full of non sequiturs! It’s wonderful to find a kindred spirit! Thank you for being you!!!!
I am obsessed with the exploration you did in this sketchbook! It's just so inspiring how you handled this book, you didn't just stick to things you knew and were comfortable with, you used the sketchbook as it should be and used it to learn and grow as an artist! so incredible, thank you for this 💕
I just wanted to say that I love your style, the colors you choose and the shapes you make and I would dare to say your art style is brave. I do art as a hobby, just for myself and always follow my inner critic's voice, so I am never satisfied with how my art turns out, since I can always do better. But watching your videos makes me want to relax more, experiment more with art and only hope to achieve as great of an effect as you do in your art. Keep going, never doubt yourself and keep making amazing art the way you always do!
I really love your art style, and also the way you talk about your art. Makes me want to try more color block-y styles myself, since I'm someone who tends to think in lines, if you will. Also your journal pages look SO instagram ready.
Great job miss!!! Thank you for being so open, and a sweetheart, sharing your growth and development! Stay sweet, strong, and draw, draw, DRAW, paint, paint, PAINT, and sell, sell, SELL! PEACE dear sister.
I love the way you draw, and I really wish I could keep A sketchbook. I always buy a sketchbook and then rip out all the pages because I don't like what I draw , but you've inspired me to just work with them, as well as I have watched the thirty ways to fill a sketchbook series. Thank you!
I would suggest making a rule that you do a no rip out rule. And, use refrences when you draw, and do some studies. I did this when every piece of art I made felt like rubbish and it helped get me out of the slump.
I love when you describe your process and styles and how you felt and mistakes you made. So helpful and you get me into the mindset of analyzing my artwork a bit more, but also letting myself be free to try so many different techniques I wouldn't normally try
your sketchbook tours have always been my favorite thing to watch! it truly inspires and motivates me to hear you talk about each piece and what it means to you, and just seeing the process of your creations is always interesting! you are actually one of the artists that inspired me to pick up drawing again after i quit for roughly 2 years! So thank you for what you do :) it is truly appreciated!! much love!
I work at a zoo back home and so when I'm in the UK studying, I like to draw the tigers and bears that I miss back home. I tend to overstress and get really discouraged when my art doesn't resemble the specific animal that I'm trying to draw so that is what I want to work on. I'm such a perfectionist that I'd rather draw on pieces of paper until I'm happy then stick them into a sketchbook, it really lessens the relaxing factor of doing art in the first place.
You are such inscredible person Minnie! Thanks for all your videos and sharing of your thoughts! You've been a huge inspiration for me recently, you remind me that art is not just about duty and work, but first of all it is about the enjoyment in the act of creating itself and it is something that I really love to do since childhood.
I just love sketchbook tours! They are so insightful and i find lots of inspiration from them. I'm currently trying out the canson 180. I have used moleskine for ages as they are my fav! I love your style and take on this sketchbook :D
Your videos are always so slow paced and calming... This one started so fast and you were such in a rush that I thought it was an error from the conection. Your voice was such on a fast pace I felt u needed a deep breath 😅 But I really enjoy your sketchbook and all your work!
This video was SO interesting. I really enjoyed seeing the process behind your finished work 😊 and how you embrace your "mistakes" and "not so favourite" drawings, you're really inspiring me to do the same because we do grow from mistakes!
I love seeing the planning process of your great artworks! It's nice seeing you trying out random things and them actually turning out really good like the eyeballs or the fireplace for example. Can't wait for your next sketchbook!
You're one of those rare artists whose videos I revisit once in a while. You and your art are always so inspiring to me, but in a soothing calming way. Just what I needed today. Thank you. Edit: I feel I also want to comment specifically on the sketchbook. This time around, especially the chicken sketches and painting stood out to me. They were so powerful, and the painting then combined that with a certain dreaminess. Also, that stove was so unexpected and cute! If you want to do more of those, you may be interested to know some cultures have amazingly decorated and/or shaped ones. Fun fact: canonically, the design of the moomin house is based on the stoves their ancestors used to live behind.
These are always so great to watch! I love seeing the process and how things are done. So nice! You have been such an inspiration the last 2 years for me so thank you for all that you do on RUclips!
Oh, now, Minnie! I enjoyed this! You seemed inspired and driven and much more cheerful! Looking into your sketchbook shows just how beautiful your sweet mind is and how you're growing into a truly amazing artist! I'm glad I look up to you! Very, very proud of you!
I am OBSESSED with your new space! I keep forgetting about it until I see it in these new videos - it's a nice touch. I love your sketchbook tours. Keep up the great work! :)
I love listening to these, I love listening while im working and watching in the background, your voice is so soothing, hahah I listen to them like podacasts hehehe :D Keep being amaaaazing!
I love the animal explorations you did in this book, from the adorable sheep to the chickens! I enjoy seeing the ways you experiment with new "subjects" like that while putting your own stylistic spin on them. I really enjoy your work & your videos! :)
Watching your videos makes me want to experiment and get out of my confort zone :) You are one of the few art youtubers who can get me into the creative and relaxed mind-set and I'm really grateful for that ^-^ Thank you for making these wonderful videos, Minnie :)
I watch sketchbook tours all the time and I noticed that everytime someone is talking about a drawing that THEY don’t like , I say to myself “WHAT?! It’s beauuutiful”. What you think is terrible someone else thinks it’s amazing. Just a tip. 🤗 you gained a subscriber mini small
That was one of the most interesting sketchbook videos I have watched 💞 your talent is unique and beajtiful, I adore the pig morphing out of the peony. The chicken painting was so cool, I seriously know you are going to be famous someday☺
I really like the way you keep a sketchbook. It never occurred to me to jump around but I’ll definitely try it for my next sketchbook. It was also so cool to see the pomegranate pig process layer out like that. So rad
I love all the different things you did in this! I think for me the eyes are the most memorable. I don't know why but I really like them and drawings of eyeballs aren't exactly something you see everyday XD
Before you mentioned your mistakes…..I saw ZERO mistakes! Great sketchbook……trying to develop this habit now…..rather than just planning little projects. Thank you for sharing!
I really love how your videos and messages can be related to so many different aspects of life and not just art... But in a way I guess life is art right? Your vids are just always inspiring and relatable. Just dope af ❤️
Keeping a sketchbook dose have challenges like the part of you or me that is that will want the page to look good and be art in of itself and the part of me tat needs to develop practices and idea's. I love the title of this video learning to love my mistakes. I am doing a part time MA course and we had a whole lecture on that very concept. Suggesting that threw mistakes we grow more than threw success but I think you need both to grow. To much of one or the other can put one off balance. Thanks for the lovely video. I watched this really cool serious on Netflix she gotta have it and I taught you might enjoy it. Well if you are on Netflix I would recommend it. Have a great Sunday.
Why is this only the first video of your's that I've watched?! Stunning concepts and pieces, and I personally find your style very pleasing. Keep up the awesome!
Yet another lovely sketchbook tour ❤️ I especially liked your commentary on the gouache portraits that didn’t quite come out as planned. I always try to finish my drawings/paintings, because even if I don’t like them, they still teach me something 😊 keep up the amazing work
i love absolutely every sketch book / drawing video you have done... super inspirational and how i want my sketchbooks to look like (cause I haven't yet filled one)

Minnie Small; thank you for creating this video, definitely one of my favorite tours that shows you don't have to have perfect pages every time. I didn't even notice the noise lol, wonderful vid!
I just thought it was a peony pig!
this is the best and sweetest response
Oh, I was just about to ask what the "rope bridge" sound was. Fantastic artwork!! Enjoyed. 💗
Minnie Small can you do a review about blendy pens
the way you explained “it’s like asking my sketchbook a question” resonated so much with me, i have a completely new view on accepting my mistakes thank you! :)

I love how you do faces so much! They have such personality and feeling. I really want to try that minimal portrait painting style.

This was a great sketchbook. So much growth and experimentations. I am currently working in a sketchbook like this where I’m just kinda discovering stuff and experimenting. I want a mossery sketchbook but I don’t like spiral bound sketchbooks either... I’m torn. Which sketchbook are you going to use next?
Your voice is golden, thank you
Thank you for this video. It helps me to open my mind to love my mistakes. I have been struggling in it.
I totally agree with you about the wire bound sketchbook thing!
I've been eyeing off the Mossery Sketchbooks for ages but i'm just too loyal to a good hardbound. I hope they make some in the future, but if i'm honest i'll probably cave and buy one of these. They're just too pretty! ❤️
I love your style! Your line art is amazing
These are beautiful! You deserve more love! 💖💖😘😍
Love tho video! As usual, like the eyeballs drawings I'm practicing that as well.. peace
Tbh I love your more rambly videos :) You worked with the pages so well with this sketchbook, and all the colours are so lovely. Good job ^_^
I actually think this is one of the most inspiring videos you've put out yet. Something about this sketchbook is super dynamic. Maybe it's the fact that it is a bit more raw, like you were saying. Can't type any more -- must sketch! :D Thank you for sharing this. It's really motivating! Cheers
you've got lovely hands and the nails are so pretty too ✨✨
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and wow I love your aesthetic and art style, especially how you use color. Even if your sketchbook isn't "perfect," it's still beautiful and I think mistakes and imperfections are part of what makes a sketchbook what it is. Also I love your rambles, your voice is very nice and I love conversational narration like this.
/sorry for gushing so much I'm def subscribing
really love your art and this book! glad I found your channel :)
Thanks for inspiring me, with ideas in every video! ❤️✨ Your art skills are good as, and that sketchbook looks amazing inside and out. ps. From your Australian fan 😅✨
Beautiful work!
I absolutely love your art, it has this timeless quality to it, like it could belong in a museum hundreds of years ago but also hundreds of years from now, if that makes sense hehe
Aww I love watching you grow! ^^
Love ur setup and work sooooo much
Excellent. Great work to learn from. Thank you 🌹🌹🌹
Loved the sketchbook. I've only completed one myself :)
