Noris Kadum That's because this game featured some of the most unforgiving and unexplained problem solving ever placed in a game. Boy did the developers love punishing people for guessing wrong!
Such beautiful graphics and animations for a 90s game! You can even see the wizard'z butt when in battle!! Never knew of this, and has suddenly become one of my favorite games, ever.. a shame I didn't play it in my days. Great run, though I wouldn't mind a commentary track for this game's walkthrough to understand some actions.
20:15 if I just saw my war buddy fight an old dude and get his skin magically peeled from his skeleton, I don't think I'd run up to the old guy and call him foolish.
Extremely difficult and challenging game. Demanded that you not only got good at the controls and learned the mechanics, but you had to remember a hell of a lot of the game too where a wrong decision / guess could kill you. Sort of like the difficulty in learning Rick Dangerous and it's sequel.
The ending is far better than I could've ever imagined for this game. It shouldn't be this satisfying, but you know what? After seeing the Dragon descend back to its lair and the wizard nodding in understandment, it is.
Flavio Kauling No, mainly King's Field, Zelda, and Berserk (mangas) inspired Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Many of the details of the world are similar to Berserk with a lot of the gameplay with stuff like bosses inspired from Zelda. There are long dungeons, big bosses, and keys needed to unlock doors. The design of Sen's Fortress reminds me of the Shadow Temple from Ocarina in some ways. Many of the role playing aspects come from King's field (except with more customizing within the game), and the exploration also mainly comes from King's Field. The Balder knights' designs are similar to Guts' costume in Berserk, and bosses like the Minotaur on the bridge are almost ripped straight out of Berserk. If Dark Souls were made in the NES era, though, it would probably be similar to this. But, all I am saying is that this probably didn't inspire Dark Souls.
" _As long as I have this amulet, the dragon can't attack me! Mwahaha, it was almost too easy to lure you here! Now, I will enjoy watching you become a crisp my apprentice as the Dragon can't attack me, but it can attack yo-_ " - *YOINK* - " _..... Oh goddam-_ " - *FWOOOOSH* -
Such an amazing improvement over the NES version. I like the resolution being so much better and being able to see what the hell is going on! Great walkthrough!
the dungeon theme was my first experience of anxiety as a young kid. I made my brother's turn thw audio down . I'm not sure why it hit my that way, I still come back to listen to it and figure out why
There is zero chance I ever would have gotten through the second level without this. Ive tried so many times. Every once in awhile i would go back to it too Thinking "maybe I could figure it out this time"
Years ago people spent money on a game, around £35 to £50 for mega drive games when i was younger, for a game that was under an hour long, once you knew it, but we were happy and played it over and over. Years ago, we had games that were buggy, we just laughed about it with friends. Years ago, we had games that crashed or wouldn't load, we just took them out and blew in them, then got on with it. Years ago, we had games that were crap, waste of money, we just borrowed other games or tossed it away and got on with it. These days though We spend around the same on games today, as we did back then, and somehow people think we pay too much. We spend between £50 to £55 on a game that is 20 too 40 hours long, and people moan saying they are ripped off. People play games that are buggy, and they take too social media and cry like babies, saying gaming is broken. People play games that crash, and they take too social media, acting like it is a personal attack on them. People pay for games that are crap, and they have too tell the world that dev's are conning you, gaming is awful. Conclusion..... I am 44, and i have never seen a more bigger group of complaining idiots, than that of ''gamer's'', they are total snowflakes. God i wish we could go back too a time when gaming was just that, gaming! Not a lifestyle or job.
This was my first rated M gate i ever played, my dad had this game but my mom told i can play sonic and shit but I'd play this behind their back lmfaoo
so whoever holds the amulet the dragon doesn't attack yet doesn't the main character have the amulet in the beginning? why does the dragon still attack him?
The dragon didn't know the wizard had the amulet until he held it up at 36:40. Although if the wizard knew the dragon was afraid of the amulet, he could have shown it to the dragon right away. Possibly, the reason he didn't was that the dragon attacked him immediately, and he was more concerned with surviving until the dragon tired out enough to give him an opening.
that was the ending? This game was so brutally hard with so many trial and error moments I got maybe to the 3rd level or so but never beated it. Now I'm kinda glad i didn't but this video is fantastic and this game was part of my childhood.
I love how dragon just sits there and watch two wizards dueling :) He must be thinking something like this: "Old man with staff don't attack, only dodge. Oh! Old man without staff cast a lightning! Huh. Countered with statue spell. One more time? Same result. And another one. Still don't do anything to penetrate statue defence. This is becoming boring to... "Mortimer casts Sonic" MY EARS!!! IF OLD FART WASN'T HOLDING THIS BLASTED THING, HE WILL BE NOTHING BUT A PILE OF ASH RIGHT NOW!!! At least fight still going. ... Old man without staff is 100% spam-happy today. And summoning this bone-thingy don't help ether." Mortimer: NERF THE STATUE SPELL - IT'S OP!!! "This blasted thing you hold is op. And now he talks. Like a lot. Thought it will be entertaining to watch, but noooo. Instead i got this stupid spam-fest. So boring. Oh! Thing changes hands! BURN THE BASTARD!!! ... It feels good ^_^ ... Old man with staff still don't attack me. And now he has thingy. Welp, it left me only one thing do to. Screw you guys, i going home."
died so much playing this game when i was a child. didnt know there was more to than the first level. WOW

+CADJewellerySkills They had a phone number that you could call for hints...for $$$ of course.
+tidal9 I also remember that after I finished this game, I never wanted to look at it again.
Same here. Didn't know about that dodging system!
Same i tried so many times to figure this game out and only ever got to the second level
This is the first dark atmosphere-y game I ever played as a young kid. That intro music will stick with me forever.
This game kicked my ass so many times when I was a kid. Back then I couldn't read english and the invisible monster's room were as far as I could go.

This game, in my oppinion, inspired the Dark Souls games.
I see, Im no only one :) Praise the Sun

Man I played this on a P286. Seeing this now in 2017 sure brings back lots of good memories....
Most ppl nowadays won't even know what P286 is :)
i remember having to dick around with high and low memory and the turbo button
Such an amazing improvement over the NES version. I like the resolution being so much better and being able to see what the hell is going on! Great walkthrough!
The goblin fights are like that saying from the film "Troy": "Make him swing and miss; he'll tire."
A big thumbs up, I remember this game and still play it from time to time it’s great, awesome video and well played !!
the dungeon theme was my first experience of anxiety as a young kid. I made my brother's turn thw audio down . I'm not sure why it hit my that way, I still come back to listen to it and figure out why
I actually finished this on my Megadrive , and swore at it more than Dark Souls !!!!
Honestly this might be the inspiration for dark souls. It's so hard and complex. Incredible games back then.
34:14 I love how you have a giant black octopus just chillaxin.
Amazing. Finally trying to beat this game as an adult as it kicked my ass several times when I rented it when I was a child. Always loved it though.
There is zero chance I ever would have gotten through the second level without this. Ive tried so many times. Every once in awhile i would go back to it too Thinking "maybe I could figure it out this time"
I remember this game being insanely hard haha. The ending is actually really good, great dungeonsynth vibes
I wish this walkthrough was around 27yrs ago, god danmit
The gem puzzle at the end of the first level was brutal. I spent hours rearranging those f**kers and never got the right combo.
Now I know how this game finish. Thanks.

i think this and faxanadu made me feel a certain way. like a lonely sad but determined way.
Could never get through that room with the worms......
This and Shadowgate were my two favorites
beautiful game!
slicing goblins sounds like my sneezes
So that's how Diablo would look like in 1990 :D
You sir are a god.
Such a leap ahead of the original ZORK game. My friends and I wasted hours in computer lab playing WIZARDY on the Apple.
The Music on the nes is way better, but graphics/fights are superior
Crazy good game, if it was a bit easier or if you could save not only passing each level it would get so much more attention and recognition!!
Thanks for uploading it! I love this game!
Thanks I remember playing that game too first American made game that I didn't hate
This game was the original Realm Of The Mad God
That was awesome !! Thank you for the video
That was great, took me back.
The plot twist!
This was my first rated M gate i ever played, my dad had this game but my mom told i can play sonic and shit but I'd play this behind their back lmfaoo

How do I get the Wizard to dodge attacks? Ive tried what it says in the manual and I can't get it to work
button C + (left or right)
Is this considered a horror game?
Fucking hell, this was the first game to make me rage quit
THIS FUCKING GAME WILL MAKE YOU RAGE QUIT
Made it to the second level when I was a kid
I love how dragon just sits there and watch two wizards dueling :)

Well played :)
Sempre que joguei Diablo, pensei nesse jogo do Mega.
How does the combat mechanics work in this game? Is it just mashing the attack button? I don’t get it.
Great!!!!
Where can I find this game to play on PC? I loved playing this game as a kid.
www.gog.com/game/the_immortal
i didnt speak english when i was little playin this game so I didnt get far at all...
And now diablo is fused with immortal on smartphone
Bob and weave lol
ВИКТОР КОРНЕПЛОД
Nobody fucking explains how to do combat properly! I've been trying to beat this for 30 years! How the fuck do you swing first?
I like how you were able to jew the merchant down to 60 gp
this music is inconsistent and annoying its taking me out if what seems like a good game
The IBM version sounds different; when you see Mordamir's message, the first track keeps playing.
nes version is better. ;P
Brian Griffin
Sega does what Nintendont!
I love Nes, but in this case Genesis is way much better.
