Airbus was actually not certain how the market would respond to the XLR, thus they created the LR to test out the market's reaction. The general public certainly had mix reaction upon hearing the 8hrs long flight in a single aisle, but the airlines management generally loved it.

I disagree. The A321XLR will come nowhere near to the 757, but I do agree that it is the "replacement" for the 757 as of now. Until Boeing actually brings out a 757 replacement, the 321XLR is currently the aircraft closest to the 757's capabilities.
The A321LR/XLR is not a true replacement for the 757. It's the only aircraft that's close to the 757's capabilities currently being built, so it makes sense to go for it instead of waiting for years for Boeing to come up with it's true replacment.

This along is enough for some airlines to buy the plane and happily workaround those shortcomings. The extra range from XLR definitely helps, though.

Well, besides being 757-200 replacement, a number of airlines wanted an airliner that could fly fairly long over-water routes without the higher operating cost of a widebody jet. That's why Hawaiian Airlines ordered the plane, so they could fly from smaller airports on the US West Coast to Hawaii. And I can see in the future a number of European airlines that are part of all-inclusive tour companies like TUI buy the A321LR to fly holidaymakers to longer-range destinations at lower cost.
I really love watching that Arkia A321 flying.Undoubtedly it was the best livery so far for a Middle-Eastern airlines.Such a shame only a handful manufacturers release it's model plane with currently AC produce it's 1/400 and it was trash!! Will wait for my 1/200 coming soon 😊😊
I will NEVER, EVER fly a single aisle aircraft on the Atlantic run. Once, I had to fly a single aisle aircraft across the ocean. Never again. It's just too cramped.
They block a row of seats in economy, just like they would do on a 757. Also on most flights the A321LR operates there normally isn’t really a need for crew rest, at least airlines aren’t doing that

Why would you want to add another variant with probably less range (given that the ER version is usually situated in between the base and LR version. Also, the XLR is the longest range you can get out of the airframe, the maximum has been reached. Or what should ER stand for?
If Airbus wants to fill the entire gap between capacity and range the only option is to bring back A310 with a Neo variant!!! 321neo LR and XLR to cover lower market midsize aircraft 310neo to cover 250 seat midsize aircraft and 330-800 neo to cover top midsize aircraft market
A320 family is a very reliable lineup, I personally think that Airbus has to cut production of 318 and 319 entirely!!! A220 has covered completely their meaning of existence and I'm afraid that a further stretch of 320 can lead to reliability issues....

The Boeing 757 was more sought after its runway capabilities than for the passenger capacity and range. However, since fuel prices became more expensive and many runways were extended, this application is starting to become of very limited interest.
I do not like single aisle long haul flights to the point where I'll book my flight according to the aircraft being used for the flight, regardless of cost.
@@barrysteven5964 if one aisle is blocked you can usually go around and it's also a faster boarding and de-boarding process. Also, there is some good standing room that you can move around in. You can't do that with a single aisle plane. And for long haul, I need to stand sometimes.

Darn...now how are we supposed to identify Airbus A321 aircraft and Boeing 737 series aircraft? I could point out Airbus A32x series by looking at the winglets at the tip of the wings. Now this looks like the Boeing 737 (900 series and below; not the Max rubbish)
Not ryanair as they have an all-boeing fleet, but maybe others that ordered the a321lr and xlr (like wizz air or frontier airlines) could fly trans-atlantic. Imagine sitting for 8 hours on a frontier aircraft.
I dear the 757 way more than i do to the a321lr......... That plane was better looking and more powerful, it might not've been efficient by today's standards but had a lot of potential....Boeing's busy on getting the max back in the air and cannot focus on reengineing the 757 and modernising it.....I'll fly a 757 any day over this....
