I started having a strong feeling on Tuesday that Ngannou would lose. I watched the Fury fight again, closely. I noticed that Ngannou pretty much had no defense. He was simply eating Fury's punches and countering instantly. Even in Ngannou's impressive 8th round, Fury actually first caught him on the chin first and he started bleeding from the mouth and nose. It was clear that Ngannou can be hit, and it came down to whether AJ's punches would hurt him, and how AJ would react to his.
Also on Wednesday, AJ's promoter/agent Eddie Hearn made what I thought was a great point -- that Ngannou can't set up his punches like AJ can. I watched AJ's past fights and saw how he set up his knockouts. At this point I was convinced that Ngannou would be in trouble.
Ngannou's body language suddenly changed on Wednesday from confident every other day prior, to clearly nervous. And AJ suddenly wasn't nervous during the Thursday press conference. I was seeing nervousness before. I prepared my mind for Ngannou's loss -- I told myself that defeats/setbacks are actually what make heroic journeys in movies interesting.
Other issues that were concerning me prior were a) I thought Ngannou needed a much longer camp to prepare for AJ in particular b) Apparent lack of dedication/focus from Ngannou's coaches -- Eric Nicksick was coaching other boxers, so he flew in towards the end of this camp. Dewey Cooper is running a new team-based boxing tournament, starting in a few weeks. I'd loved it if Tyson was around too.
I still believe that Ngannou can box, even to a point of posing a problem to AJ. After his first knockdown in this fight, it was clear that he has superior power to AJ. The haymakers he was throwing could have hurt AJ, if they had accuracy. He'd need a whole year of polishing his boxing skills. I believe that boxers work on their (narrow) skills ways more than UFC fighters, because the following/money is more. Problem is, knockouts have an effect of messing up a fighter's psyche -- many fighters aren't the same again after a knockout.

@@onwuekweuchennastanley9125I 100% had a very strong feeling that he would lose. God's my witness 😀I actually said it aloud and prepared myself mentally for the loss. I told myself that even main characters in movies need setbacks for story lines to be interesting. I'm somehow decent at subconsciously processing data and predicting outcomes

He made good points. Anyway I think Ngannou going to get knocked out by lesser HWs too. The hype train is done.@@onwuekweuchennastanley9125

I think AJ was a bit angry the fight wasn't stopped, but then ice cold predator when he had to finish the job

It's obvious from the training videos of Fury when he got the cut for the Usyk fight and how seriously he was taking it. He ALMOST HAD ABS! So we ALL KNOW he did not take Francis's fight seriously and was well underprepared. But this is actually a sad outcome for me. I wanted AJ to win, as it is bad for boxing if he lost. For AJ, it seems to be a second coming now he's training with Ben, so we want the BIG BG fights, but because of Francis, I was hoping he would put up a decent performance for his beloved fans and Charities in Cameroon. I hope no one thinks any less of him for this as he is still a Champion, and both Fury and Joshua wouldn't last 1 - 3 a minute round in the Octagon. He would destroy them both easily. I hope he goes back to MMA and fights John Jones, as whoever wins is the most all-around skilled fighting champion in the world. So good luck to both of them, 2 good guys. Oh and if you saw the post-match conference, AJ wants to hook up with him and put charities together, so apart from the fight, this could create something very positive, so happy about that.

In what universe Ngannou is a well rounded fighter? He almost never uses kicks, his „wrestling” comes down to taking Gane on the floor and laying on him for several minutes. He’s a chaotic power puncher and not even remotely close to being a complete martial artist.
