I went back and looked at your build video for this camper and noticed you did not put any support framing under the fan to tie it into the cross frames for the topper. If you don't support the weight of the fan to the camper frames road flex in the aluminum roof panel will continually cause the roof seal material to crack and leak.
Thanks for pointing that out! I do think that was an oversight in the build. If it keeps leaking I may go back and add support! Smart idea and thanks for highlighting it!!
On corrugated metal you would use one to two layers of butyl tape in the lows, then one final layer completely around the under edge of fan frame to metal, then screw it back down and lap sealant over all edges and screws.
I think you may be getting condensation in the air space between the lower shroud and the upper housing.. Leave the lower shroud off for a few days and see if the problem goes away
I have built several trailers over the years and do have quite a lot of experience in these problems. I also noticed in your video that you installed the maxxair inside the upper roof flange and I believe they are supposed to be stretched out and installed over the outside of the vertical roof flange
I seen other videos where condensation from people's breath while sleeping a closer camper and it fryed out the chipboard and even had a pool of water/humidity from breath), don't know if it applies to your situation though.
Could it be the cover that opens and closes. Is it wet when sitting still or after driving in the rain? Maybe water blows under the cover while driving.
I thought about that but it doesn’t seem to be the cover that I can tell. I’ve played around with it some but it’s worth keeping in mind if it starts leaking again. Thanks for your thoughts!!
I have not worked on a fan but do have a van that will occasionally leak. At any rate, if you find that your fix has worked that is great, and I will keep my thoughts/ideas... If it seems to leak, then I'll share my thoughts, which may or may not be helpful. I think the wise thing is to wait and see how it works. Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving!
We had a similar issue and after trying everything you did it still leaked.. looks like it is seaping through where the lid closes on bad weather days. They make covers for the vents we are looking into that option now.
Oh no!! I’d love to hear how the cover works if you get one. So far, I’ve been through a couple of rain storms and I haven’t seen another leak. Fingers crossed!
Did you use butyl tape between the fan and topper body, Then seal with lap sealant? I but brackets for solar on my topper with bolts but I put butyl tape the length of the brackets then bolted down, then used lap sealant on top of bolts, and all edges covering up the butyl tape, so far no leaks and I live in the rainy pacific northwest.
No, somehow I completely missed using butyl tape! If I have to reinstall it I’ll make sure to lay that down before sealing. I’m glad to hear you haven’t had any leaks so far! Thanks for sharing!!
Water can enter in from another area (outside) and travel internally up to where the cut out area of your fan is. So I would check the edges atop your camper where water might enter. It looks like you’re getting it done right.
I would remove the fan and reseal with butyl tape . This is what it's designed for, and you can double up on it for rough surfaces .
Thanks for passing this along!

I’ll follow this if I have to reinstall!!
Good advise!

@@BG_LEO_MachineRepair Humm… I’ll take a look at this. Thanks!

Thanks! So far so good but I’ll know more once I go through a handful of wet weather. A happy thanksgiving to you!
I used butyl tape on a vintage fiberglas trailer I restored and never had any leaks.
Thanks for the tip!!
