I love it when a company changes their entire product line just for one person extreme corner case
🤣🤣
Exactly he had a specific issue and it was due to his poor planning. Hey samsung this nobody living in west Virginia loves your TV but the connector size is too big. Can you do a total recall to accommodate him? If it's a new construction house tell your contractor to come back and make a bigger hole
I had the same issue
One connect sucks, doesn't have enough bandwidth
@thespecialist75 great so go buy a regular TV if you don't like oneconnect.
I wish more companies would do this when developing products. Usually they get it the next time around if they listen to audience critique though.
people need to stop installing small conduits in their house, a 1inch or an inch and a half and this problem wouldn’t have happened
Have the same issue. The next standard-sized conduit is already too large to be installed in my floor. And I won't raise all floors just to fit a stupid proprietary Samsung cable, haha. LG it is now, with HDMI and power, although I would have preferred The Frame.
@@MoritzVielistandard size conduit? It’s a hole in a wall, dude.
@@bradensorensen966 depends on where you want to install the box. If you want to hang it just on the other side of the wall (maybe outside or just above the toilet seat), go ahead. You‘re going to build something great here, dude.
But it's not a phone charger...do you expect companies to provide hdmi cables with detachable connectors as well? My suggestion would be to spend 5 minutes researching and $5 extra for at least 1.5" conduit
Awesome! Thanks for your completely realistic suggestions! ♥️
The people who built the house years ago could not possibly have researched who would own their house years later and what tv they want.
@@greglutz1802 you and bro in the video don’t read or research bro just said they just moved into a NEW CONSTRUCTION HOME!!
Just get a bigger one ... why cry on a video about it
But the plug IS the plug you “want”. You can’t put a plug on a plug lol.
Wtf are you talking about??? You can totally do what he is talking about... he just wants the big part of the cord to be detachable... that's nowhere near impossible... people are saying to hire his contractor to come back and make the conduit bigger it would probably be cheaper to have an electrician to cut the end off, slide it thru the conduit, and then wire it back together honestly.. if you hire a good one you probably wouldn't even be able to tell its been cut
@@K0LBIE I’m an electrician. I own one of these TVs. Can you please show me a connecter or a joint of ANY kind that is the same diameter as the cable, thanks. This plug is about as small as it gets especially considering the number of connections it carries for data and power, you cant make a plug detachable. That’s exactly what a plug already is… this is extremely poor planning on behalf of the OP.
@@ibsn87they sell a plethora of tools to make these small connections. You just have to rewire your brain (no pun) and equip yourself accordingly.
Start perusing electronics repair sites. Be surprised all the magic you can create.
Btw I'm not an electrician, I'm an auto mechanic whose specialty is electronics and programming. After the pandemic, I had to learn how to repair, and repurpose, vs replace. There ain't a board or component I can't fix or repurpose. That's the immediate future for you. Get with the times, or get left behind. 🤷♂️
Samsung: “Is this guy for real?”
Should have hired a AV Company to run the conduit and pre wire, we have known right away that wouldn’t have worked
...that picture is pretty damn beautiful.....
I had the same problem. You can pry the plastic housing off of the metal connector with a small screwdriver. The metal 'guts' of the connector is small enough to pass through my conduit. Once through, the plastic cover snaps right back on.
Correct! Figured that out long ago, but you know…this video keeps getting views, so… 😄👍
@@ealanosbornedo you have a video how to do this? Please?
It was twice as big on q9fn, this connector is a huge progress😊
How to blame a company design when you failed to measure the connectors first, your fault.
Exactly!
they did that! now you only have to run that ONE cable instead of the 5 or 6 you would otherwize. also TVs dont belong above fireplaces. my neck hurts from just looking at it.
First world problems if there’s anything more important to throw a fit over it’s this. You’re truly blessed 😊
Just pointing out.
The one connect has high voltage running though it and needs to be shielded before running it behind the wall.
That’s what’s keeping me from wanting it. The cord that you could buy to go in the wall is super expensive
Just buy a box the recesses in the wall and hook electrical up to it. Amazon has them
I understand the request however, just like you when I had my new build house, I opted for bigger conduits just because I didn’t know what I would be putting in Biggers always better when you don’t know.
Love your content by the way
@@rockcitybwoy9042 What size pipe did it take to get this connector through? I'm in the process of doing this right now and don't want to undersize it. (Haven't purchased the TV yet as construction is ongoing)
@@farmalltom I wouldn't worry about getting the One Connect cable through conduit. Put a recessed wall box behind the TV for the One Connect box. You'll also have additional room for a Roku/AppleTV/etc. If you need to go to some additional outboard gear or a receiver, then you can run an HDMI cable or CAT5 for a balun.
@@farmalltom my pipe was 3 inches wide
@@jasonwhatley3211 No can do. This is an 2x4 exterior wall and, in this part of the country, having an uninsulated spot in your outside wall is not an option.
Yo Ealan
I have THE SAME situation!!!!
I even called the support team to see if there is a solution but apparently not…😢
Well a detachable connector would be a hard solution since that only cable carries high speed data such as video and audio compressed and they would run into so much issues with signal integrity believe me it's honestly impressive that they were able to do it in a single connector
We install back boxes behind the display for the one connect box to mount in.
Yeah I’ve been contemplating that at this point. Just frustrating that we told our contractors to put in that conduit, only to realize it’s too small. 👍
Would love to hear about your final solution as I’m dealing with the same scenario.
Yeah I came here to say similar. Just do the connections behind the TV and run standard through the conduit. Not really a giant problem. You won't be able to see it behind the TV!
I finally had the One Connect Mini box installed behind the tv! It turned out nicely. Thanks!
If I may ask, what’s the exact width of the connector? I’m building a house and would want to keep a conduit accordingly
I’m experiencing the same issue and mine is a 1” Smurf tube. It can almost fit but doesn’t.
What size conduit was installed? Likely 1 inch EMT. Every time we are asked to provide a conduit we use 1 1/2 to 2 inch PVC schedule 40 for electrical purposes, all depends if the inspector will allow it, some do some don’t.
Thank you! I was looking at the end of the plug and thought it could be pried about with a small flathead. I’m going to attempt that because that seems like my best option at this point.
Yep! I thought it might damage it at first, but as long as you pry it bit by bit, it eventually gives and pries apart. You can do it! 😀👍
Why when you have the opportunity to build in future proofed solutions would you limit yourself to a simple HDMI. Larger conduit, brush covers for the wall to mask them yet offer you flexibility.
Lesson learnt.
Is it normal that these boxes produce high amount of heat? I mean it can be very hot after 1 hour usage. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Would external mini usb fans help?
If i was samsung i would do anything you asked because of your silky voice
It does have a smaller end and it’s closer to the size of the HDMI. IDK what he is talking about. One end goes to the TV that’s what he showed and the other end that is smaller that connector is almost size of the HDMI.
Nope, sorry. The small end is what I showed. The end that plugs into the TV is very flat, but VERY wide, much larger than the end that goes into the media hub.
What a fantastic idea
As you didn't mention it, can you tell us either what size pipe is required or what the physical dimensions of the cord end are? I'm building the wall for mine right now and want to make sure I have an adequately sized chase pipe. (TV has not been purchased yet)
If you have a 2 inch diameter conduit, that should work just fine. Although since publishing this short in January 2023, I have since solved the problem by carefully removing the plastic housing around the end in question, gently sliding the wire down the conduit, and snapping the housing back together once through the hole on the other end. So there’s that workaround, too. 🎉
Tv is too high up, my neck would be dieing with that
It seems like a common thing in the US, to mount your TV above a fake fireplace.
First of all, why the heck would you ever want a fake fireplace? And second, why would anyone in their right mind want the TV that high on the wall?!
Blame the wives.
I mean I still like what Samsung did here. I hate having ports behind these giant ass TV's. Having an application like this is incredible.
If I’m not mistaken that a fiber optic cable making it modular would be a engineering nightmare
TBH, this is not something Samsung can change without a major redesign. The issue is really with your contractor. You want a pass through that is large enough to fit several cables, not just a single HDMI. It shouldn’t be very difficult for your contractor to rectify this; in fact, you could probably do it yourself.
I have my tv above my fireplace. We mounted an in wall tv box recessed and put the one connect box in it. Worked fine.
I've got the same issue. I've chosen to cut a slit into the conduit, force the one-connect cable into the conduit and then run the conduit in my brick wall and plaster it. I know i won't be able to remove the cable in one piece, but at least i'll be able to switch to a different cable in the future.
I have a 55" Samsung LCD. No picture, no sound. Red light blinks 5 times then cycles over again. I replaced the main board UN55FH6030FXZA. But still the same. I think it's the t con?
Your guess is as good as mine. 🤷♂️
Great suggestion
Bro really it would fit down any wall,do it before gyprock goes on
OMG yes! Same thing happened to me.
Trim the edges?^^ or is it wayyy too big?
Your power example is silly; why would you connect to a connector to then connect to their box? Just ask for it to be smaller.
Do your planning. I made my conduit big enough.
What did you end up doing with the cable?
Finally figured out that the plastic end that plugs into the One Connect box can be carefully pried apart with a small flat head screwdriver. It was then JUST small enough to fit through the existing conduit. Once through, I could snap the plastic housing back into place around the exposed terminal. 🙌🎉
Honestly, I figured this out a LONG time ago, but this short still gets a lot of views consistently, soooo… 😄 And may I say thank you for asking?! Almost EVERY comment I get on this is so negative, or outlandish or hurtful. So THANK YOU for being genuinely interested in the result. 🎉🎉
How cold is it there
Taking the plastic housing off to run it through conduit worked in my case
Me too! Figured it out awhile ago, but this video keeps on truckin’ with views… 🤷♂️😄
The one connect cable that comes with the tb isn’t fire rated. So even if you manage to squeeze it in the conduit, it’d be a fire hazard. You need to buy another cable that’s provided by Samsung and is thicker and fire rated.
It is low voltage it really doesn’t matter.
maybe some wierd US regulations but it id not dangerous at all.
TV is way too high
Tell that to my wife…
Depends how big the room is tbh.
Sounds like a you problem haha, but u get it.
Until the box craps out, I work in telecommunications, and see these are broken more than functional
So you installed all of this without actually looking into the tv you were installing, and it’s Samsung’s fault?
Get an in-wall media box behind the tv. Sanus makes some good ones. Put the whole one connect box in there and route the conduit to the box.
I’m installing now and had the same issue. I removed the black casing so it could fit into mine(still barely did). My issue was that the cord was almost too short.
Yep! I posted this in Jan 2023 and have since done that exact same thing. Like you, even with the black casing off it still barely fit through the conduit. But it’s now how I wanted it to keep clean lines! Yay! 😁🎉
Is there a video on how to remove that
Just watching 110" micro LED installation from another channel and surprisingly Samsung had the detachable one like you wanted.
Whaaaaaaaaaat?! 🤯
What about removing the plastic shell around the cable before putting it into the wall? I think I will be in the same situation and I’m thinking about solution, is the plastic shell around the connector can be removed ? Even permanently and than put around it some electrical band
I literally tested this out yesterday and it WORKED! It’s a bit cringy when trying to pry the 2 plastic halves apart (since they’re glued together), but with some patience and gentle fingers, it came apart! 🎉 Even still, the connector was JUST barely able to squeeze through the conduit. I know I should’ve asked the contractor to put a larger diameter conduit in the wall to begin with (🤦♂️), but it finally got done. And once I snaked it through, the 2 plastic halves of the connector snapped back into place just fine. 🙌🙌
How wide was is when the plastic was removed?
Fair call. I install these and getting the one connect head were it needs to go is a pain.
I’ve since solved this problem, but this keeps getting views, so… 🤷♂️😄 I finally realized that plastic housing can be carefully separated. So I did that and it fit through the conduit, then snapped it back on once it was through the other end. Whew! Kudos to you for installing these! 😁🎉
I had to cut the cable while moving out. Need to buy new one and cost more then 100$
Really sucks
Why such a small conduit. I always run 2”
You should splice that wire and ad a connector
My neck hurts just looking at the placement
I’m pretty sure if you take out both of the outer plates you can fit just enough and then put it back on ! Hopefully this helps !
Correct. Finally figured that out awhile back, since I posted this in January of 2023. 🎉
Same thing I tell all my customers who purchase the frame. They didn’t design this tv based on your specifications. That’s why it’s key to research an item before you buy it
Have on Amazon
Samsung: “Don’t worry, by the time you’ve figured out how to run our proprietary cable through the conduit, it’s time to buy a new TV because ours are unreliable.”
Lol! Sony's the same way. My Bravia died after 2yrs of light use last year! Unrepairable! 😢
That connector is power and fiber optics, so it would not work as you hoped.
You can unplug power, and you can unplug FO, so it could be done.
tv too high
Lol, I was thinking that. Ealan should know this as a man outstanding in the home theater field. My guess, it was a compromise to appease the Wife. I get it, happy wife. Happy life, lol.
Install a recessed box behind the TV and put the One Connect box in it. Then you can run a standard HDMI connector through your conduit.
Irony is this cable is pretty much costly. Like 300 usd.
Your builder screwed up. 1 1/4" is the minimum any pro installation company uses!
Can you cut it feed it and then repair it?
Nah. It’s fiber optic, which is above my pay grade when splicing. 😄 But since this video was published, I discovered that the plastic housing can be carefully pried apart, making it just barely small enough to fit through the conduit. Once I fished it through, it snapped the housing back on. Hooray! 🎉
Unfortunately you have to install one those in wall boxes. They aren't really expensive and your tv will still sit flush against the wall
Wire the HDMI end down through the conduit
Your tv is too high man 😕
Tell that to my wife...
@@ealanosborne how do I message her? 😛
@@Insane_Oli 🤣
😂
I don't know why Americans like to place their televisions above their fireplace! The height is perfect for standing viewing 😅
You can always cut the wires and re solider them and heat shrink
You can make that connector yourself. Amazon is your friend.
Just cut it and re wire the the wires back together just color one end so you know which connects together it’s really simple I’ve done it
spam video, tshirt and cap? is it winter?
Umm just run it from behind the tv down to the box on the wall…. Then you don’t have to fish the big end up to the tv… is that not obvious?
That seems like a you not thinking or planning ahead problem not a Samsung problem🤷🏾♂️ just saying a simple review video or google search would’ve told you everything you needed to know😊
Your power connector example is silly, why would they make a small connector that then connects to a larger connector to then connect to their box? Just ask for a smaller connector.
Or better yet build the whole TV INSIDE THE TV!?!?
The Frame is hot garbage imo. I install these things. Return it and get a G3 if you want a low profile TV with decent image quality.
You’re asking a company to change the design of a proprietary cable because of poor planning? For one person at that for something so simple. If you want it to fit just cut it snake it through and resolder
😂😂😂
you’re problem is probably 1 in a million and you want Samsung to do the work for you😂
My contractor dismantled the jacket sleeve connector to make it slimmer and was able to fit through the conduit. Then pops right in after.
Thanks! 🌈
Maybe build your home to accommodate the product, and stop expecting a company to make a product because you can’t use a tape measure…
😂😂🤘
Use the other end it’s much smaller
Why not plan for a bigger hole to pass cables through haha what if you had to run multiple cables, dude it's your fault for not making the hole big enough
Why not just get an HDMI extender and only use the one connect behind the TV. That way the only thing going in the conduit is actual HDMI.
EASY FIX
yeah good luck getting Samsung to give a flying funk about what we think. I have the exact same 65" Frame and for no apparent reason I can't upload my photos anymore. No support, no update, no magic trick, nothing works.
Well the wire foks up all the point of it looking like a frame
My roommate works in samsung mississauga, ontario. Don't know if he can tell the higher ups, but I showed him the video. Fingers crossed.
Whoa, cool! Thanks! 😎
Same issue I'm facing with the frame.
Not wires.. can't be joined by solder unfortunaltely. Its not wires (except for the power wires), but a signal on an optical fibre. I believe the plugs are fiber optic terminators with a whole lot of light conversion circuitry in them - actually its amazing they are sooooo small as they are. I know everyone still stuck with a probelm ... but you might feel better that size is not an oversight :)
Luckily I’ve solved this since I posted it in Jan 2023. The plastic casing can be carefully pried apart, revealing the main terminator that JUST barely fit through the conduit. Once it was through, I snapped the plastic housing back together. Boom! I could make an updated video about it, but at this point, I like the snarky comments from people who can’t believe I’m complaining about such a thing. It’s good entertainment. 😄🌈
USB C is what they need to do.
HOW DO YOU POWER A 65 INCH TV WITH A USB-C CABLE???? 😭😭😭
@@TheMonaamohammed not hard…you can charge a MacBook with USB 92 watt. Means tv manufacturers should be able to do usb c as well
Sounds like a you problem. Should have had them give you larger conduit.
I see a soundbar 🤔
Just get a dremel drill bit and ream the hole just enough to fit the cable.. complainer over something minor.. smh
If you were an electrician like my husband you could just cut the wires and then splice them back together. 😊
I considered that, since I’m pretty handy myself…but the cable in question is fiber optic, so that’s above my pay grade. 😄
should have informed urself about the cable or should have used a bigger conduits
Or just change the damn opening in the wall since it is drywall anyways
Couldn’t one cut and re attach the wire?
It’s fiber optic. I’m comfortable with various audio wires, but fiber optic is above my pay grade. 😄 I solved this dilemma a long time ago, anyway. The plastic housing can be carefully pried open, exposing the innards that JUST barely fit down the conduit. Once it was through, I snapped the plastic housing back on. Done! 🙌🎉
@@ealanosborne that makes more sense. I would have no clue as to how to do that with fiberoptic either!
How Are there so many rich people in this country? My Gosh
😂😂😂
