Just a little thing to mention, when adding a cost resource to the summary task it won't be accepted in case that there are summary task levels below it in the WBS, otherwise the resource should be defined as a budject resource from the reosurce sheet, but when adding the cost resource to the phases (summary tasks) it was accepted as they were only one level of summary tasks.

Very Good video regarding resource allocation. Thanks. One thing I would like to ask is how can we assign equipment resource? For example we have to use a bull-dozer in a task so do we assign it under "Work" and input Owning and Operating Cost per hour for the equipment?
+ Hasan Shirazi : If you can hire a Bulldozer by the hour, it is Work Resource and this is the simplest case. If BD is hired out per day, enter the cost per day in Standard Cost. Now if your lessor allows half-day hire, for that task allocate it 50% so your cost is for half-day. If you need BD for full day allocate it to 100%. I am unsure how to deal with the scenario if you planned to use a BD, but you had to cancel at the last minute and the hirer wants to charge you some fee. May be you show in your actuals that you had 'hired' the BD for some time.

12:30 I am a bit unsure of MS Project's behaviour here. In File > Option > Schedule > Default Task type = Fixed Units. Why would Project change allocation to 84% for Mike Jones? It should be 100% (Fixed Units) and the user should be prompted to change Duration or Work.
MS Project has 3 variables i.e. Duration, Work and Unit. If you input two of them MS Project calculates the third with the relationship U = W/D or W = DxU or D = W/U Now we have already specified D and W for M. Jones i.e. 4d and 27h so what is left is U, and MS Proj. calculates it to be 84% (this appears in peak field and not assigned units which will remain as 100%). See the video after 10:00. I mirrored your example on my own but for some reason the allocation percentage for each resource was not visible. In other words, the resource was visible but there was no "[allocation percentage]' next to the name. Is there a format setting that needs to be enabled or disabled? Is the information exclusive to only certain versions of MS Project? I am using MS Project 2016

Project Online can be set up to provide the daily report. It can also be linked to Microsoft Planner so you can create and assign tasks. The resource will then receive an email with the task or tasks.
I'm using MS project 2016. The project i'm doing is a construction project. There is a cap of 70, the amount of people that are allowed on site at one time. Is there any way of counting or keeping a count of workers or setting a cap from the start and if you go over the 70 cap the software will flag it ?

10:26 50%... is that because the work is 4hours and 4 hours is half (50%) of a workday? When is it necessary to calculate work? I didn't know of it till now.
Work will be calculated when you specify a duration of working days (made up of 8 hours each) + the working units. To calculate it helps to see if a resource is overallocated. Of course, from the amount of work the costs are a direct consequence.

Mike Johns work allocation is 27 hours hence his % is 84. (27/32)
