It's a legally distinct sci-fi setting heavily inspired by 40k, but the creators have said themselves that it's not a 40k adaptation or meant to be a 1:1 translation of the setting. So I don't think there's that much point in dwelling on which thing is supposed to look like which other thing, since it's most likely going to branch off more and more into being its own thing.
Chestnut is my favourite. I wonder what new adventures are coming for him!

The white one was an Apothecary, pretty much a medic. The blue one was probably an ultramarine, the yellow one was probably an Imperial fist, and the red one was definitely a Blood Angel. Blood Angel sergeants have blue helmets like the Star Defenders.
The fact they were attacking the wrong planet had me cry laughing.
The first part isn't far off the recruiting process of some chapters, such as the Carcaradons aka "Space sharks".
They do have planets they forcefully capture people and mind wipe them so they can recruit more members.
I thought the Space Sharks usually traded or “negotiated” for recruits? This is closer to Chaos Marines recruitment, only the girls/women would either be enslaved or left behind with some males past conversion age to repopulate the planet for next time.

There's girls in Warhammer 40k, even an entire faction of them
fun fact: there were female space marines, but the models did not sell so GW stopped making the models and that gave rise to the only males can become space marines, the story is that the gene seed only can attach to the Y chromosome. Later GW added the sisters of battle and female guard. There have always been female eldar.

I think the squad is based on the og space marine command Sqaud. So Chestnut would be an apothecary, Bryce would be the Melta/heavy weapons guy, the Captain in this case held the banner, so he’s the banner bearer, hatemonger reminds me more of a chaplain than anything so maybe not

I would think hatemonger is a marine who has some association with the death watch with a chain as a symbol and how his helmet is bolted shut. Chestnut is an apothecary obviously and no idea what the yellow guy is from but looking at his weapon, he seems to be a heavy intercessor or an eradicator
Bryce is a Tech-Marine, hence the invention.
Certain types of Space Marines wear unique colors even in their chapters so an Apothecary always wears white (Chesnut), a Tech Marine always is red to show their training on Mars (Bryce wears orange here, but he’s obviously a tech marine equivalent), Chaplains wear black even though HateMonger here is in dark blue, and Librarians (Space Marine Psykers) wear a Unique shade of dark bluish teal. The Star Defenders seem to be a parody of the Death Watch as they all seem to be from different legions combined together and taking orders either from an AI (Giga-Heresy) or more likely a Servo Skull acting as a transmitter for “high command” aka the High Lords of Terra

Bryce is salamander/tech marine based on all the things he builds.

@19:30 yes, they announced a few days ago that episode 2 has been officially funded, so it will be here as soon as its done.
Personally, I thought that Captain's colors looked more like an inverted version of the ultramarines sergeant scheme (which normally is blue armor with a red helmet).
Librarians are also psykers, given no display of warp fuckery, I think he's more likely to be non-traitorous Alpha Legion, hence never seeing his face, blue armour and interrogation. Given the distaste for xenos, could also be Black Templars.

Inquisitors, IG, sisters of battle, sisters of silence, bunches of eldar, there's a few.
Basically nuns with guns, with pipe organ missile launcher tanks, lobotomized cyborg baby cherubs and churchs deployed from low orbit.
I guess they were just getting rid of girls because they're not Space Marines material lol

The white one ChestNut represents a bit of an Apothicarrier A.K.A the Space Marine medic as well a Lamentor (a Blood Angel's well known for having Bad Luck and having self doubt hense why he's treat the way he is), HateMonger is based on the Ultra Marine Terminator hense his growling voice the fact we don't see his face, Bryce definitely is based on the Imperial Fist due to his inventive ideas, And Captain is based on the Blood Raven's as well as possessing the iconic Ultra Marine halo on his helmet.
Not the first, second or third time someone in the imperium got sent to the wrong planet by a bureaucratic mistake.
My Legally Distinct Chaplain never got his castle made of Hate where no one would question his statistics. :'(
This is parody - based on 40k but it’s own thing in theory.
Blue is ultra marine, white one is a apothecary red one is a imperial fist
yellow one is clearly engineer ( tech marine). Blue is generic (ultra)marine, white one is medic (apothecary) and hatemonger is...god knows, really. He is either dark angel (interrogations), black templar (hates xenos, simps for Emps) or "lore accurate" marine instead of being parody.

I am sure I have seen the design of these marines before!... Like from before Games workshop old, I thought "space crusade OG" but no, I checked the box and books, they're old there but still have helmets... But I know I have seen them before.
I don't think they are talking about different chapters when it comes to the squad layout. @ti8ick I believe it is as follows [ Blue = Chaplain (Immune to Chaos Corruption) ] // [Red = Squad Leader (Normally hates everything) ] // [ Orange = Techmarine (Designs & Repairs Equipment) ] & [ White = Apothecary (Medic) ]

As someone who has watched Happy Tree Friends back in the day, I can confirm that that's how 30(+) year old disturbed men look like.
I saw the thumbnail for this reaction and wondered if your mum still watches the Warhammer videos... even though any resemblance is maybe kinda coincidental hahaha
This is another one where I'm surprised there's useful information to share lol
Last things first, Citadel had a paint called Flash Gitz Yellow, I think. A *bit* like how Astartes have legions or chapters, Eldar have craftworlds, etc, Ork society is divided into different tribes or clans. Yellow's the main colour of the Bad Moons, a really wealthy, "flashy" clan, hence the paint name, I think!
The marines' colours are gonna be a bit of a mashup of course, but most of them - like the captain - look like Blood Angels, whose Devastator - heavy weapon - squads wear blue helmets. The blue guy could be more of a mix, maybe an Ultramarine as you say, but Alpha Legion also wore blue armour with a chain motif. Like the hydra symbols, the chains signified cohesion etc.
The orange guy? Your guess is as good as mine 😅 but I think because he invents stuff, and red is already taken, he might be a techmarine! Techmarines are basically several kinds of engineer, and often wear red of Mars, where they received Mechanicus training.
Yes, this touches on that specialist marine stuff I commented about in your Black Templars reaction, sorry if I've missed chat explaining it! ❤ That just leaves Chestnut lol, clearly the team medic, with little to do but recovery, oops haha, the marines who specialise in that - and creating more marines - are called apothecaries, typically in white armour. Of course if you want to spot a Blood Angels Techmarine - red on red - or a White Scars Apothecary - double white - you've gotta look closer at the paint job, special badges and particular wargear. I didn't expect it'd come up again so sooon lol, hope it helps! 😊

They purposely made this legally distinct so they wouldn't be at risk of lawsuits or cease-and-desists, so it's technically not Warhammer 40k. It's its own thing that takes reference to 40k, and something FlashGitz can market and sell merch of

Actually Warhammer 40k DOES feature girls/women like female-only Adepta Sororitas (Sister of Battle) army. Infact i strongly suggest watching the 3 episodes "Pariah Nexus" series as it features a sister of battle. Only for mature adult audience thou.
Hatemonger is a parody of the Black Templars who hate aliens like it’s a religion. The Captain is a generic Space Marine and so is Bryce. Chestnut is an apothecary marine which are usually responsible for reclaiming Geneseed implants from any fallen Space Marines bodies. The funniest part is this is a parody of a game series that parodies a lot of pop culture. Warhammer 40,000 literally copied Judges from Judge Dredd and Rambo (but in Space) into their little universe.

What is this warhammer you keep mentioning and ultramarines and white scars. These are foreign terms and have absolutely nothing to do with space king.
To me, the 'little girls' part is all about the many people who demand that Space Marines be female no matter how many times GW says that Space Marines are gender neutral, not human.
I really didn't appreciate the use of the "r" word... I'll admit the subject of mental disability is personal to me. I don't see the need to use that epithet, especially in a 100% comedy situation like this.
