This song ended up going to #1 many years after its initial release, and at one point, held the Guinness book of world records, for longest note held. If you would've listened to the album version, then you would've heard this bit of musical history for yourself. I could be wrong, but I also thought it held the Guinness book of records, for the longest time it took a song to reach #1.
This song is one of those flukes in music history. This was the only hit Sheriff ever had, and it didn't become a hit until almost 2 years after Sheriff called it quits. You should listen to the studio version of this song; the ending is unbelievable.
Um actually they were together from 1979-1985 they where a Canadian Band, had a few hits. This song was re-released in the US in 1989 and hit #1 in the US. In 1983 it only hit #60 in the US.
The harmonies? I guessed you were going to comment on someone's hair, lol!! The ending of the studio version is amazing and I'm pretty sure this is a one hit wonder who were broken up long before this song made it up to number one!! Thanks again for letting me drop in and make my day by visiting your channel!!
Two members of this group [Arnold Lanni, Wolf Hassel] went on to form the Canadian rock band Frozen Ghost in 1985, placing 5 songs in the Canadian top 40 over the following 5 years....Head Over Heels and Dream Come True are considered iconic love ballads here in the Great White North!!
...and the singer (Freddy Curci) and guitarist (Steve DeMarchi) went on to form Alias in 1990 with former members of Heart and had a big US hit with "More Than Words Can Say" and "I Need You Now". DeMarchi went on to play with the Cranberries (staring in 1996) and was a large part of Dolores O'Riordan's solo career.
This group reformed and took the name Alias and, they haves ballad as well! Britt check out Alias group too. Alias More Than Words Can Say the me led singer!
There’s a lady who says jumping spiders are so friendly and like pets. She does videos of them coming up to her and touching her. Granted I’m always afraid they’re gonna crawl in my ear at night when I’m trying to sleep, but maybe that’s just me.
Just a small request Britt. The Dolly tee you have shows through the videos. I see more of Dolly 😅 Maybe you could put the tee in another location . Thank you & love this song 🎵
Must check out the original version of this song to enjoy the amazing ending. Also should check out the band ALIAS "MORE THAN I CAN SAY (I NEED YOU NOW)".
My God. Huge tragedy this band stopped here. And man, who else was immediately transported to their school dances and either stalking your crush in order to dance with them to this or running from the poor person with whom you did NOT wish to share this song!!!❤
Please react to two of the most beautiful Journey songs that Steve Perry sings back-to-back off the Departure Album. They are "Good Morning Girl", followed by "Stay A While". They are truly, truly beautiful.
Hey Britt, I'm just newly aware of your channel & love all the classics you revisit. I was about 14 when this song came out, so you know it tugs the old heart strings. I would love to hear your thoughts on a much newer song that is my current favorite. " More than you" by Class Actress. I think it came out about 2015. I don't know if you take request's or suggestions.. but here's mine. 🙋♂
Good ear, the letter "b" is not a consonant you want to use when singing because it makes your lips close and cuts off the flow of air. The letter P is the same, they are called "plosives". Singers try to not close the lips when singing words with Bs and Ps or substitute a similar consonant.
Yes the studio version is awesome. He’s a bit flat on this performance. See if you can hit that high note at the end, especially on the studio version. 😉
I never realized that was the same singer, but now that you mention it, I can definitely hear the similarity (even though I haven’t heard Alias in years)
Like everyone below, the studio version will be the most beautiful ballad you've ever heard! They called him Freddy the voice for a reason but this live version is a little...not as good. lol
OMGOSH, I forgot that this song existed! I think I was a Jr in high school when it came out. It was HUGE, but honestly the rest of the album kinda sucked. 😂 This was their only hit.
This was not the best version of this song. It could be the age/quality of the recording, but it sounded slightly out of tune. Much better examples exist.
The braids (attempt to) mimic a texture she can't grow. The color mimics a color she can't grow. But let a wwoman mimic HER natural hair (afro) and it would be headline news. Smh
AHHhhhh... "Sheriff"...the Baby-Faced Assassin on LEAD VOCALS... Unfortunately, this one is their GREATEST hit. Now, seriously, THAT being said... Welcome to the Party, Britt!!!! It behooves me that they don't have any mention or consideration for induction into the Coveted PDC Club (just based solely on THIS MOMENTOUS HIT)... BUT... I would reconsider. Let me change y'all minds... okay??? Sure, it IS a Sappy-Love-Ballad... BUT... the message speaks LOUDLY. Sure, the lyricism is simple & pure... BUT, the HARMONIES are ON POINT. Sure, they'll be a ONE-HIT-WONDER for life... BUT... THIS SONG is recognized by the Guinness World Record as the LONGEST SINGLE NOTE IN HISTORY (did y'all HEAR that NOTE HE HELD IN THE END??? PHENOMENAL!!!!). I could go on, but... IF the FACTS that I presented doesn't change your mind, then I don't know WHAT WILL. You got "PLAYER" in the PDC CLUB... they are ALSO a ONE-HIT-WONDER... ALL things considered (Food-For-Thought???). So, yeah... Keep doin' YOU. Peace, Love, & Liberty. MIC DROP 🎤.
That band was all in my neighbourhood when I was a teenager and the last note he sings (but not in your version) is still the longest in R&R history,
You need to listen to the ending of the studio version.
The studio version is better.

It’s such a good live version that I’m happy she did it, but certainly the studio version is terrific
The lead singer would go on to have another #1 hit in 1990 with a group called Alias "More Than Words Can Say" another classic. His voice is legendary

Oh man, I’m having flashbacks from my teens. Great love song.

@@markchapel6694 "More than words can say" and "I need you now" are the same song by Alias.
This is a great song with a great vocalist. He later formed the band Alias and has some excellent songs with them.
The song you were referring to is With You by Tony Terry.
One of the best voices l’ve ever heard
the lead singer and lead guitarist of Sheriff went on to form the group Alias. You need to listen to their song “More Than Words Can Say”
one of the top school dance songs of the 80's
Not sure if haven’t seen it, Leo Sayers “you make me feel like dancing” or “when I need you” his falsetto is awesome!
His Eyebrows are Beautiful!! Love them on him… along with everything els! His Voice resonates with My Soul!!! ❤🥰
STUDIO VERSION PLEASE!!!❤❤❤
This group reformed and took the name Alias and, they haves ballad as well! Britt check out Alias group too. Alias More Than Words Can Say the me led singer!
…thank you with the simple and easy sometimes. ❤
Listen to the Studio Version and you will love it❤

I’ve never clicked on a video so fast !

This was my wedding song ❤
Mine too!

ours too in 1989 when it was fresh
@@Swordsfor200Alex my wedding was in 1988 😁👍
Just a small request Britt. The Dolly tee you have shows through the videos. I see more of Dolly 😅 Maybe you could put the tee in another location . Thank you & love this song 🎵
Without being disrespectful to Britt or Dolly, I agree.
@@terrywirth5869 Thanks 😊
Yall must have Misophonia
of the eyeballs ... snowflakes 😂😂
So funny, I just noticed this! Yeah, it’s because you can see “through” the video as Britt is watching it. It looks like a marquee with DOLLY on it. 😂
By design
On every Power Balled CD back in the day.
Britt is absolutely brilliant
Thank you
Good song, this really feels like a reality show performance.
Must check out the original version of this song to enjoy the amazing ending. Also should check out the band ALIAS "MORE THAN I CAN SAY (I NEED YOU NOW)".
Haunted heart by Alias. Same singer
Fabulous voice!! Nice song! 😅
Amazing voice..
My God. Huge tragedy this band stopped here. And man, who else was immediately transported to their school dances and either stalking your crush in order to dance with them to this or running from the poor person with whom you did NOT wish to share this song!!!❤
Amazing voice

Another Canadian band!

This song reminds me of my middle school dances in the 80’s
The spider is your friend!

"When I'm with you" -Tony Terry
You can hear his Canadian accent just a little in his vocals.
Yes the studio version is awesome. He’s a bit flat on this performance. See if you can hit that high note at the end, especially on the studio version. 😉
his original band is called Alias check out the song I need you now

Sheriff was formed in the late 70's and released their album in '82. They broke up in late '84. Alias was formed in 1988.
@@markchapel6694 woop I got it backwards thanx
This video is slowed down, the song is slightly faster and sounds better at the correct speed
Try listening to Styx 'Lady'
Tony Terry!!
Like everyone below, the studio version will be the most beautiful ballad you've ever heard! They called him Freddy the voice for a reason but this live version is a little...not as good. lol
Luthor Vandross sings the song you are talking about.
No he doesn’t. Tony Terry sings it. It’s called With You.

You're so hot Britt! Great reaction and good tune!
Hi would you react to a music video request for me?
This was not the best version of this song. It could be the age/quality of the recording, but it sounded slightly out of tune. Much better examples exist.
Sheriff changed the name to Alias a few years later
Once again I click on your page and I'm shut it off because of a live version. So disappointing.
