Despite him having managed for over 3 years still find it hard to judge Rooney as a manager as both DC United and Derby were basket cases of clubs off the pitch when he took over!!

It’s a fair and good point. This will be his first major test.

Looking back on this now refinding this on your RUclips page… I think we can all say that Wayne Rooney as manager went about as well as we all thought it would. Still absolutely baffling to me that they fired a manager that had them in sixth place in the championship. I think that they deserved what happened to them. Now they have to fight to get out of the relegation battle.

One of the worst football decisions going!

Hey, Jon Josh! You're making this newbie work, just trying to keep up. I found your name, sir.
Is Jon short for Jonathan? I'll be using Jonathan if that's okay with you, unless and until you say otherwise, mate. It's reminiscent of one of my best buds from back in our old 95th fighter/interceptor squadron days. I was quite surprised you fellows already knew of Tom Brady.
I'm proud to say I'm a card-carrying fanboy of TB12, and when he mentioned he'd bought a piece of Birmingham City I wanted to check in and get brought up to speed on BCFC. We are here for you Brits if you have any questions regarding Tom.
I can tell you this much. He'll definitely be an asset to the team and the City. He has two young sons who are just getting started in sports. We know one of them is a soccer player and wants to play tight end like Gronk. The oldest, Jack, plays quarterback for his high school team. Tom showed up with Jack at a basketball gym last month and they posted an amazing shoot around on RUclips where both of them were draining multiple three pointers, one after the other. We didn't even know Tom had played basketball. Tom also played baseball as a catcher in high school and was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs his senior year. Tom's sisters play competitive sports as well.
There's a lot for us Yanks to absorb. We will be eager to learn the nuances of British football. This tiered system gets a bit confusing, what with players coming and going and getting relegated to other tiers/teams. Today introduced another big surprise, the exit of Birmingham's old manager, mid-season no less, and the meet and greet intro for this new chap, Wayne Rooney. We wish him well in his new job..

MLS management is much, much tougher than most people appreciate. Obviously, the standard isn't as high as the best of Europe (still, much better than many give it credit for being).
What makes it difficult, is the design of the league itself. Don't fall for the trap of believing that the absence of pro-rel makes it easy. The league is designed for parity, almost to a fault. In a traditional league pyramid, take England for example, the drama occurs at the very top and the very bottom. Who's going to win trophies or promotion? Who's going to be relegated?
In MLS, the drama is at the top and trickles all the way down to all but the very worst teams in the league. Top teams are playing for the Supporters Shield (top points finisher through the scheduled slate of fixtures) and playoff position. Finishing order dictates playoff tournament seeding, selection to CCL, and whether or playoff games will be held at home or away.
The remaining teams are fighting for playoffs, period. The biggest prize in MLS is the MLS Cup. Theoretically, a mid table squad can win it all, long past the point of relevance, if they were playing in another league.
Second - salary cap. Yes, it's an idiosyncrasy of American sport. It also means that scouting and coaching are far more important. A manager cannot rely upon the club owner to break the bank with a lot of huge transfers.
Side note - I personally believe that Ange Postecoglou's experience in a salary capped league (A-League) helped to make him a better manager and evaluator of talent. He was accustomed to performing with limited financial resources. Even at Celtic, which has huge financial advantages over most Scottish clubs, he spent less on transfers and player wages than did Rangers - and he dominated them.

    Addendum to previous comment:
I've got no crystal ball, and don't know or care much about BCFC. But, if compelled to guess, I would say that Rooney will not succeed there. He was a great player. I'm not thus far impressed with him as a tactician, man manager, talent evaluator, or squad motivator.
I could be wrong, and wouldn't be surprised if I'm proven to be wrong. But, i wouldn't stake any meaningful wager on his success.

Maybe a little off-topic, but I would like you to make a video discussing what MLS could do better and what it would take for the league to turn heads in Europe that the league is turning "legitimate". It still has a ways to go, yes, but there seems to be a lot of European gatekeeping, too...or would most never consider it legitimate and is his just a defensive tactic to keep European football the only on considered important. Does MLS need to more consistently win Concacaf Cups, or a Copa Libertadores, or go deep in a Club World Cup, or sign someone in their prime like Mbappe, etc. Also, it's very, very unlikely that it will ever have pro/rel, so it would have to be more like a super league similar to NFL. Apologies, I know super league is a swear word for European football fans.
