I've been an active tennis player for about 50 years. I've also been playing pball for about the last 5 about once a week. I do it mostly for social reasons, and it does require reflexes and good hand/eye. However, it's simply not in the same conversation with all of the physical requirements of tennis (or even ping pong). There's a reason why the world's best pball players might make a few hundred bucks for winning the highest level tournaments. Enjoy it for what it is. If you can't hack what it takes to be proficient at tennis, it is a worthy substitute but not much more.
Good match, great use of the camera's. Why is there not a tie down in the middle of the nets so that the nets are 36" at the sides and 34" in the center. The loose nets are why there were quite a few balls that hit the net and fall over. Is this the way they are supposed to be? No criteria in the rules for the tightness of the nets, but it is different to play with loose nets, or nets that are not adjusted to correct heights. Just surprised to see this in such an impressive facility.
Rober Atilan, have you played it? Seems like you're judging its dexterity and control by simply seeing it on you tube. Now, I ask you is that the way to truly relate to a game/sport. I questioned a lot of stuff too but having played it competitively I respect that it starts as a game but can transition into a pretty competitive racket sport. As for the overweight guy, he has lost considerable weight now since the match. I've got experience from other racket sports and I won't hesitate to call this one as well. If you'd asked me that a couple years ago I would have hesitated to answer the Q sincerely.
I'd say that it's time for the USAPA to come out with uniform/attire requirements for USAPA-sanctioned tournaments. There should be a requirement that each doubles team wears the same outfit (or similar). Wong and Kern look ridiculous...lol
just superb P/B, enjoyed every second of it. Would have like to see a wind screen obscuring the #2 court play from the main event, especially where a team on #2 court was wearing bright yellow shirts.( Gee I wonder why)
Valerie Paul it's actually a great option period. to most people its about 100 times more exciting than tennis. I've played both. I'll never play tennis again. These guys make it look very easy to somebody that doesnt understand the match very well. Most players are working a lot harder to make shots that arent near as impressive.
+Bokchoy DzNs This video is making Pickleball look easy. If you actually go hars, it can get CRAZY. Me and my buddies spike it and pin each other in the corner almost EVERY hit. My Phys Ed teacher makes these guys look like sissy girls.
Aerobic training not required. Stand and walk around. Play with a whiffle ball. Sorry Gang This is not a sport. It is a game. Leave it at That. Where is the sweat and gasping for air that Sports require. Ping pong players are better conditioned and have better hand eye coordination. And they sweat and gasp for air.
Rober Atilan Right and wrong Rober. Sports aren't required to gasp and pant but they do require you to use your psychical and mental skills to make your opponent to fail. Otherwise it's a game or contest. Running requires panting, but to win at running other runners must fail to beat your time but you are not directly causing them to fail so...not a sport. Other not sports people are confused by are pool, darts, golf, driving, horse jumping, diving, figure skating,...the list goes on.
***** Driving a race car, nascar, indy, grand prix, takes extreme focus, stamina and conditioning. That is y race drivers hit the gym and run and bike for fitness, pool requires little in the way of aerobic conditioning ergo it is a game and not a sport, figure skating takes extreme conditioning, darts are hand me my beer and let me toss a 4 ounce object at a target 10 feet away, horse jumping requires tremendous strength and balance, golf requires a balance of muscles to control the head face of the club, while swing with and proportioning your body weight shifts, whiffle ball/pickle ball requires no conditioning, aerobic or muscular, yes I have played it. ur opinions are as valid as mine. cheers. Is bull riding a sport. u betcha, tremendous strength, balance and anticipation on milli-second responses of the bull are required.
***** There is also tremendous psychological processes involved with running. Sometimes it is not the best conditioned or talented runners that win. Marathoners no how to break the spirits, or drive of their competitors by varying what they do and when they do it in a marathon. Running is very much a sport, by ur definition of a sport. Be cool sir. cya. Running requires coming in first, not beating my time.
Rober Atilan It's a sport and it's a little ridiculous to say that it's not. Aerobic conditioning can make all the difference in a multi match tournament. No sport "requires" aerobic activity but you'd be hard pressed to succeed at any of them without it. Same goes for pickleball. Let me play somebody with inferior aerobic capacity and watch me crush them. And you dont "stand and walk around". These guys are incredibly talented so they make it look really easy because they can all drop shot at will; which is very difficult to execute. Most people below a 4 star rating are running all over to try and keep up. These guys dont have to run all over but i guarantee you that they all can.
A wonderful example of superb play for 68 years old novices like me!!
Keep it up.
Pickleball and Weinbach himself have come a long way over the last 4 years. These are today's 4.5 at best, maybe 4.0.

Best match I've seen I'd say!
Great video. Thanks for sharing! Coach David
Great Match!
Wow I love this sport...I just started last week but played a little tennis before so Im doing good haha

We are playing this in gym class!

That will never happen. Ever.
Ha ha, ya Weinbach does resemble him. Doubt Woody could play like that. Lol!
I thought this was a group who picked 5 numbers from a lottery game!
just superb P/B, enjoyed every second of it.

I had no idea Woody Harrelson was into pickleball.
I've never heard of pickleball,is it a new game?
It's been around for about 50 years
Court is not wide enough. Need more room to go around the post.
U can tell the guy in gray plays tennis
Haha, he does not. Lol.
Played pball in school gym but not like this, needs sum slo mo and beats in the back youngest dude got some sick skill he looks my age, whaat?
Bills jersey!
WOO! I'd be more proud if we didn't suck!
I am thinking this is good option when playing tennis becomes too hard due to age or prior injuries.

+savethefails yep.

Rober you have no idea what you're talking about and have obviously never played the game.
