  • The Boötes Void, also known as the Great Nothing, is a vast, nearly empty region of space in the Boötes constellation. Discovered in 1981 by astronomer Richard Kirshner, it's one of the largest voids in the observable universe, spanning 250-330 million light-years across. This "supervoid" is roughly spherical and contains only around 60 galaxies, far fewer than the 2,000 expected in such a space.
