The idea of Dorn just standing at a work station, building and planning away, while his brothers around him disappear as time goes on just sounds devastating. With each loss, his head slumps just a little, his shoulders lower ever so slightly, until at the end he is just alone, holding his head in his hands, silently weeping, as all the loss and his guilt overcomes him. That's just painful.

He also reminds me of me a little - I was always the type of guy to really bottle up all my frustrations for the sake of not losing face in front of other people, even my own parents. Sometimes, I was just... really sad, sitting alone in my room or in private. I've cried alone, I've even cursed everything around me. But never in front of other people. Lately I've learned to let loose more, and use humor to cope with tense situations. I've become less like Dorn but at the same time - my seriousness for everything I've set out to do is still there.

One thing that isn't well known as its pretty new lore from the siege of terra, Abbadon went to meet with Perty on how the siege was going, but Perturabo wasn't in his command throne where all the information outlets were. This confused Abby so he questioned Perturabo, and Perturabo revealed that in the past, before the Heresy he and Dorn would run simulations against each other, but Perturabo would always lose. In a rare moment, Perturabo asked Dorn how he was doing it. And Dorn told him, he said that at times he stepped back from the simulations to reflect on other things which helped him clear his mind. Perturabo found that it did indeed actually help him and respected Dorn for sharing it with him.

@@GamerGrovyle my guess is that the Primarchs would've been balanced as individuals. Konrad wouldn't be paranoid of his gift of foresight. Perturabo's somewhat feeling of anxiety towards seeing the Eye of Terror everyday would've been solved thanks to the Emperor's logical reasoning behind such a thing. Lorgar's obsession of faith would be quelled early on and would probably accept the cold harsh truth of the the Imperium. Basically, everything bad or flawed about the Primarcha would've been mitigated or outright corrected if there was proper oversight but it does rob us the distinct personalities they all have. It would be like buying an unpainted warhammer 40k mini, it's just vanilla if you don't put any some characteristics in them like painting them or customizing them to your own liking.

One thing I like about Dorn is that he’s not as cold or callous as people portray him. He usually gets the “unthinking, unfeeling guy” trope. Though I think it was the book Praetorian of Dorn that had a good portion where Dorn laments losing all the art and history in the imperial palace as they are preparing for Horus and Chaos. He’s actually quite cultured and emotional. He’s just supposed to be the embodiment of stoicism. He feels, but he’d never tell you. Even Malcador essentially says that Dorn is the most difficult for Chaos to corrupt because he’s so stoic. I think that’s why I and others really like him.

not just canon, but old canon as well. The whole Custodies Jojo thing is based on official descriptions dating back to Rouge Trader , where they removed their armor in solidarity for their failure to protect the Emperor.
All the TTS canon really does is add a little bit of self awareness, and (ironically) sane reactions to information, in how the character's behave. This makes the TTS canon entirely plausible, and arguably more canon, because the GW 40k lore is historically predicated on characters being one dimensional at the worst possible moments (which can be played for laughs). Combined, the whole series is cathartic in how it allows history to have a second chance; by actively allowing character to rectify some mistakes, and repeating others, but this time around the characters react more reasonably. Aka Character growth.
This is why I, and many others, choose TTS to be the better canon, because the characters are more then the allegories GW lore treats them as. That and Magus accidentally being Australian, because Zegram can't do a proper British accent. This mistake made him so much more relatable and down to earth, when the orignal intent was to make him a little bit pompous.

@@garpogods8323 they touched on him in the episode leading up to the heresy but they haven't focused on his past, his role in the heresy, or his current situation, granted we don't know what Lorgar is doing now, hasn't been seen since the heresy

Another reason why the Emperor liked Dorn more was how Perturabo conducted war.
During the war with the Hrud and everything else, Perty just ran full frontal assaults and danger close artillery barrages. That was his entire plan. Even when losing soldiers in droves against the Hrud, instead of just blasting them from orbit; Perty kept sending soldiers, and then basically bombing them.
He complained that his soldiers were in the grinder, but he was the guy putting the meat into the grinder AND turning the handle.
Perty ran war like a mathematical equation, one set of bodies vs another, which is why his brothers didn't want to work with him.

32:28 Dorn is preferred not because Perty complains, its because Perty sees the Emperor as a Genius that is smarter than him. He is so damn curious! He would absolutely poke around the Emperor's stuff and fuck it up like Magnus did! That's why.

Made a few observations. 1: Codex Astartes has an illustrated version. 2: I can not hate a guy who needs a security blanket and Slaanesh probably tempted him with thousands of blankets and a pillow fort. 3 I love these vids so much. The banter and the storytelling, humor and the whole format makes the lore easy to absorb.

The chances of Alpharius convincing Dorn that his ways were better were nonexistant, even without taking into account that Dorn hated him so much that he probably wasn't even listening. The first time the two met, Dorn showed that he saw through Alpharius's deceptions, and that although he refused to use such deception in warfare or any other aspect of life, he understood it. Then he proceeded to give Alpharius a rundown on how he could have done much better, finishing by telling Alpharius that the reason he does not like him is not because he uses lies and trickery as his main method of warfare, but because he SUCKS at using lies and trickery in warfare. Alpharius just did not live up to Rogal Dorn's standards.

Something really interesting to me is how Lionel Johnson and perturabo are completely different in how they wanted to be treated. The similarities and parallels and what they were asked to do, for example the dark Angels' wars against the Rangdan, and the iron warriors against the Hrud - and how they responded individually to whatever praise or lack thereof occurred after their rather pyrrhic victories. I think the Lion is very interesting from a personality standpoint, he's incredibly stable. I want the lion episode

Great points about Dorn's state of mind and pointing out his motivations and being emotionally vulnerable after Guilliman issued the Codex Astartes. Its a testament to Dorn's Will and Resolve that the venal powers of chaos could not corrupt him... even in his darkest hour.
