Meteor Showers is a project that me and Lost have been working on since last December, and all the way till march. It was, im sure, the largest project that both of us have ever tackled. And truth be told, I wasn’t truly convinced that we could finish it. But despite school and life we did and i couldn’t have been prouder.
It was truely an experience to create something like this and in the progress I discovered many things about me and my work process as well. How much can i get done in this amount of time? How much work is too much work? Maybe i need to switch up my work processes. Im sure I can speak for Lost on that count as well as well, who had the ‘pleasure’ of learning After Effects. I guess what im trying to say is this this project means a lot to us and im grateful to have been invited to collaborate with Lost and work on it.
This wasn’t meant to be this sappy emotional talk lmao, so you know, uhhh don’t worry about that haha

It's not actually twenty years until another solar eclipse, twenty years is just the next time the US will see a solar eclipse! I'm pretty sure there's actually another solar eclipse this August. I think, I'll have to check up on that though

This made me cry
The fact that Moonwolf’s color faded the first time Suncat drifted away, but then the second time they didn’t :(
I love the sun and moon dynamic and that if they embrace (literally in this case) their differences they can relate their similarities. The sun is the one who has everything good expected of them (at the cost of themselves) and the moon is the one who has nothing good expected of them (and is usually only seen as a shadow of others), yet both can be underappreciated and taken for granted no matter how hard they try. Sweet animatic which definitely made me tear up, and this is the way I interpreted it.

@@tanglesstudio No problem, I was a waiting for it to come out after seeing the sneak peak of it on tiktok and it was 100% worth it. Beautifully made and this is true art, it expressed so many words even without any speaking along with all the effort and thought that was put into this being very visible, an added bonus is that of course it was adorable (and used music off of one of my favourite artists which made me adore it even more). I have already found myself visiting it again and again it just to rewatch it. :3

I just saw the eclipse today so when the totality came into view, all I could think about how these two hugged each other the moment they met up again 🥺🥺

I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS???? I NEED TO RANT
Holy smokes- okay okay so firstly I love how both suncat and moonwolf have their own struggles with the other animals they interact with! Moonwolf's being more lonely in that all the animals they would be friends with are asleep, save for the owl, who leaves them once they approach. Then there's suncat, who has animals flocking to them for their rays of light and warmth, but who ultimately leave them when they aren’t able to shine for them anymore- like the day animals believe that the suncat outshone their usefulness. Then the pair meet each other for the first time, and the shared expression of "you're like me!" brought me to tears. Finding their kindred spirits only to have them torn away by the distance was so heartbreaking to watch- and made their reunion during the eclipse that much more rewarding!! That moment during the eclipse where they were FINALLY able to hug was therapeutic. I was rooting for them so hard!!! Then when they separated again afterwards, it was still sad yes, but more bittersweet as they knew they would see each other again. I have to bring up their designs- I ADORED how they became more complex and shared traits of their counterpart after the eclipse. It was like watching them become fuller and richer people! Even during their time apart, they will now be forever changed by the experience of knowing the other. I can already tell this is a video I am going to come back to again and again. The individual styles of both artists shone through beautifully and harmoniously and I am SO THANKFUL this popped up on my recommended! You both are so skilled! STUNNING work all around!

I love that after they formed the solar eclipse , the moon’s eyes were yellow and the sun’s eyes were blue , leaving something to remember each other by . Btw I can’t remember how many times I’ve watched this , this is GORGEOUS ❤

Okay so I need to go on a tangent about this so pls humor me.
I’m gonna call the moonwolf lunar and catsun being solar
I’m gonna start with their dynamic!!
So Solar. used and “loved” by everyone. Lunar, sort of the weird kid. Known by everyone, but avoided. Solar wants to have a friendship that’s actually reciprocated affection. Lunar wants to be acknowledged by someone in a positive way. They both fit together so well because lunar wants to show affection and solar wants to be shown affection. Sort of yin and yang. Cat and dog (literally)
Little details I noticed as an animator:
Lunars color palette is much cooler when they’re alone
After the eclipse they both get little face marks and their eye colors switch, showing how they sort of compliment eachother
Solars line work is more wavy and fluid, imitating heat waves in a way.
Lunars line work is much more solid and clean flowing, to imitate the sharpness of cold or something philosophical like that.
Idk if this is intentional but both lunar and solar seem sort of stylized differently, like chip animated one and icey did the other
The line work clips into itself a lot, along with the colors. I personally find this charming. It shows how this was made by humans and wasnt polished to perfection, it was polished as much as the creators wanted it to be polished and that’s just enough.
THE CHARACTER DESIGN. It’s extremely simple in concept but the execution makes the characters so damn unique.
Oh my lord the backgrounds would be hell for me.
The fluidity but also consistent stylization of the lineart is beautiful.
Okay I think that’s all, might go draw fanart now.

the intention behind each scene, builds to the finale! opening with the sun and moon's loneliness, giving context to their situation and then they meet, and boom, instant connection. beautiful! then the pain of separation and waiting, just like long distance relationships, and sets up the audience expectation, how will they meet again?? then when they hug and we finally understand, the eclipse is when they get to meet!!! then how they are changed by interaction with each other, the design changes show how you carry parts of the people that mean the most you around with you.... absolutely gorgeous! CHIPPY & LOST YOU DID AN WONDERFUL JOB

What an enchanting story!! Two celestial bodies desperate to connect in friendship and animated so beautifully throughout! You should both be so proud for completing this project, you clearly put so much careful thought into every detail
I don't know anything about these characters but this was absolutely adorable! I loved each little scene, it couldn't have been more perfect and emotional. Very well done animators!

So from what I can gather, the sun and moon (represented by the cat and dog respectively) love each other, but they rarely see each other, because they have separate schedules.
This upsets them both, so they come together, and their love for one another causes a meteor shower.
That’s all I can gather.
The timing for this with the eclipse we had is too perfect!!

This was amazing to watch! I love cave town & since an eclipse happened today, it makes it even more magical! The animation even made me a bit emotional, and close to tearing up! it was just absolutely gorgeous.
i teared up watching this bc i can clearly see the effort, passion, and collaboration put into this project. I love when animators collaborate to make something big, studio worthy, with just a few people and a ton of work. Gorgeous animation, and i admire ur guys work!!
This is absolutely gorgeous, this deserves so many more views. It's so touching. I love how they both change eye color at the end to the others color, and this releasing right before the actual eclipse is amazing. Seriously, I love this

I love how before the hugged each other their eyes where the same color as they where but after they hugged their eyes switched like they both gave a part of themselves to each other to hold on to it is just so sweet!

this made me cry somehow out of nowhere. wow… it made me think of having online friends that you never get to see.
This is honestly one of the most GORGEOUS and SMOOTH animations Ive ever seen for just a song! The dynamics, the characters, storytelling, everything is just AWESOME!
It touches me even more on a personal level as I have a long distance partner whose a Night Owl that loves dogs while I've been an Early Bird that loves cats! So it reminded me of us as well.
Overall, applause to the animators truly! Its so amazing to see what people can do! Keep up the awesome work!

Here is another peak example why indie animators are better than giant companies, such as Disney.
This was fun to watch, the colour palettes are genuinely very good together, it’s basically eye candy!
The amount of detail put into this is clear, and the effort is also, very, very clear.
At the end, when the shooting stars appear at the music beats things? That’s such an awesome detail. When the eyes change after they create an eclipse? Adorable. The fact that Moons’ fur changes to a more duller shade of blue after they drift apart, is a sad, but interesting detail that I feel many picked up on.
The expressions are clear, and very, very squishy and cute and the tears are actually animated perfectly. I can’t keep looking at every frame, it’s all so beautiful, and I’m amazed at the work this must’ve taken. It’s all animated fluidly, with zero flaws that I can see.
And the thumbnail? Absolutely gorgeous and I adored it since I saw it. It’s eye catching, and that’s a way to gain an audience.
I’m seriously amazed with this. I hope you proud of what you’ve created, because this is going down in AMV history. I speak for a lot when I say I hope you continue animation, and keep it up.
