    Hello,
    Received my Mec-Gar mags in the mail today.
    Noticed they are a bit sticky and do not drop free easily (like Original mag that came with pistol) when releasing them from the magwell.
    Did yours act the same way?
    Also,
    Do you happen to know of a Baseplate that is available to add 1 or 2 rounds to these mags? Would like to find some with a pinky rest if possible as well.
    Thanks for the reviews!

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  4 года назад

      Didn't run into that problem with the magazines I bought. Then again, you might have run across a bad batch. I've never really looked into the baseplate thing, so, I'm not much help there either.

    • @texasbeast239
      @texasbeast239 3 года назад

      I just bought several MecGars from Greg Cote for my new Match, and they are all identical to the stock mag, right down to being stamped "K10" on the side. They only lack the "FT - Made in Italy" stamp on the stock one. All load and drop smoothly.
      The Henning baseplate supposedly adds +5 capacity, to get you up to 19+1. But I don't have it yet. Brace yourself before you check their prices, though.

    Have one, (10 MM) LOVE IT! Perfect reliability and awesome ergos. Underwood Nosler hollowpoints all the way for bipedal hyenas. It's my new primary CCW, and I plan to buy another. No tritium sights yet but they can be custom built. Until then I have a fiber optic front, and a micro Lasermax pulse laser, plan an ambi safety as well (EAA has them) Use a Glock loading tool to get the 14th round in the new mag, then you can manually load them (break in tip)

    I've wanted a 10MM since I first read about the Bren Ten. Does the Tangfolio come in longer barrel lengths than a standard CZ? How does barrel length effect felt recoil and accuracy?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  7 лет назад

      Yes, Tanfoglio makes a hunter model with a 6" barrel - excellent pistol by the way. I've shot the hunter model and recoil was about like a .45acp (+P), very smooth. The longer 10mm barrel will also give you a slight increase in projectile velocity. (+100-150 more FPS)

    • @texasbeast239
      @texasbeast239 4 года назад

      Tanfoglio also offers their Xtreme Match 6inch version of this same gun. That would give you the same beauty as this but in a long slide. And it would only set you back ~$1700-$2000. 😁
      I think I would rather go with the Elite Match now, and then take my time trying to track down a long slide upper for it later.

    I enjoy your channel. Can't get enough of the 10mm videos. Also glad you are still on speaking terms with your oldest. Questions...would you trust this pistol with your life? How do you rate it with the Sig 220 elite 10mm? I know the price difference but what about dependability and overall handling?

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  6 лет назад +1

      I've carried the Elite Match with me into BIG bear country on numerous occasions. It's round capacity is nearly double that of my P220. Therefore, I suppose you could say I trust its dependability enough to stake my life on it. Both pistols handle extremely well and are top choices if you're looking to get into a 10mm. When it comes down to round capacity, this Tanfoglio Elite Match does have the edge over the P220.

      kirk erickson I ordered my conversion kit in 45acp the same time I ordered the pistol through my FFL dealer, several years ago. They are still available directly from European American Armory (EAA) on their website. Get ready for some sticker shock! EAA's pricing on these has tripled since purchasing mine. I recently purchased the Elite Match in 10mm and absolutely love it! Two questions: I would also like to shoot 9mm and .22 on this platform...is the most cost effective way to acquire both of those additional slides to just buy a steel 9mm/.22 Combo DA witness? The slides should all interchange without issue, correct? Also do you recommend any source for good grips for this gun? Thank you for all of your fantastic 10mm reviews!

    • @Icarryone

    • @michaellewis5624
      @michaellewis5624 5 лет назад

      I think 44 should be minimum for large bears. Black bears the 10mm is fine. I have taken a 400lb black bear and a 700lb elk no problem. A tough bullet in the right place will do the job.

    • @Icarryone

      Yes, both are extremely reliable. The exception is, the Elite Match is a finely tuned single action only custom shop model geared more for competition & sport shooting. The polymer model, with its double action capability, falls more in line with what one would want in a hard hitting, all around, duty sidearm.

    Coupla more things.. these guns come with SHARP edges.. I used 2000 grit sandpaper (auto paint shops have it) to hand butter all edges. This did not mar the silver finish at all. The other thing is buy ONLY the new all black (black poly follower) mags, never the old red follower mags. Midway and CDNN have them, CDNN having the best shipping rate. I just bought 12 more mags so I can eventually have a complete, cached spare Witness 10mm, ready to deploy. Handloader here so a huge can of high velocity HP ammo will be put away with it

    1) The poster below is correct, it is actually pronounced "Tanfolio" in Italian (one of 2 languages I speak in addition to English) but who cares?? 2) I have had about 70 service contacts with EAA (I am a FFL) and their customer service just plain sucks. 3) To educate you on bear defense, from someone who lives in brown bear and grizzly country and has actually had encounters with dangerous great bears, and according to the stats kept by the Alaska State Troopers, bear spray is 92% effective in preventing human deaths from dangerous bears; Handguns in 10mm/44M/500 S&W about 42%, and large bore rifles (458/45-70) are about 84%, and 12G shottys with slugs 85%. So if you really do not want to become bear scat, carry the bear spray and prey you are in the 92%. Have the 10mm in case the spray is not effective, but looking at actual effectiveness it is clearly SPRAY > Shotgun >= Rifle > Pistol. Just as your sidearm should be a backup to your long gun, the long gun should be a backup to the bear spray if you want to maximize your chance of survival. 4) The Witness's are very good, high quality guns from a company with terrible customer service, and I own one in 10mm and 40, and love them both.
    Nice review, keep them coming!

      +The Forest This might be a silly question, but what made you want those two calibers when they have similar cavity damage ? I have a .40 for less recoil and carry, the 10's for are for full power and only large guns , I still want the 6 inch witness hunter for the 6 inch barely and slightly increased velocity.

    • @texasbeast239
      @texasbeast239 3 года назад

      The pro-bear spray studies have been largely skewed and misleading. They count incidents where the bears came right back as somehow being successful stops, as well as incidents in which bears were just in the area and curious but never really attacked. The gun part of the studies have been flawed for omitting large numbers of self-defense-against-bear incidents, since those stats went to a different government agency. When corrected, bear spray effectiveness against aggressive bears drops to between 33 and 44%, while handgun effectivess rises to 95+%.
      www.outsideonline.com/2401248/does-bear-spray-work
      Handguns: 97% effective

      www.ammoland.com/2019/08/handgun-or-pistol-defense-against-bear-attack-73-cases-96-effective/#axzz6fy6A7xJt
      The last study found that, in 44 out of 44 incidents (100%) where a larger bore handgun (.40S&W and above) was used, the handgun proved effective in stopping the bear.
