Yeah. They definitely approached the challenge as an opportunity to showcase their own voice and style using the lyrics of the song, instead of showcasing the song using their unique style.
I wholeheartedly agree. They have great voices, especially the second guy.
But the vocal vibe was totally out of whack with the song. One of the most stylistically deaf performances I've seen on one of these shows.
Too bad. These guys are talented enough to do much better with this song.

Rocky start by Josh, but then, given the difficulty level this seems to have, he wasn't bad. Not entirely sure how off-pitch it is, because it sounds like the song is meant to be dissonant. I may feel different once I look up the original.

I hate this so much, and I love this song, but DX........it's not that they sang bad, its just that they didn't got song (so it it feels wrong and awkward), specially the one that won the battle. But that it's no surprise, because watching Delta (the way she was during the song), I don't think she gets the song, and she is the mentor so......
by the way, to all of Delta fans, don't get me wrong, she's great, i just don't think she gets the song.

Ye I mean they certainly aren't bad singers but they have just got to learn dynamic and when to tone it down. I do get that this is a competition tho and they kind of feel inclined to try harder than they normally would but the impact of the song is reduced as they kind of just go straight into the belting and fail to captivate the audience with the gentler parts.
josh kyle has one of the best voices compared to most of them left in the competition, i cant believe he didnt get through, wanted to hear more of him.

Feel like the first guy really tried to follow the flow of the song until the other guy ruined it by trying way too hard. The dynamic of the song should follow the gradual increase of the intensity but, as soon as the second guy comes in, the song is all over the place as it seems they are both trying to compete with each other rather than singing together. Idk if that's the point here, idk whether they are supposed to be competing coz it certainly sounds that way. Also, although I prefer the blond guys tone, I feel like he is a little pitchy here and there especially in the higher notes. The other guy seems a bit odd too no offence haha, there is a lot of interesting body and facial movements going on there and I kind of hate the cocky "I'm better than him" attitude he resonates but idk if that's just me - either way it's ruining this whole performance imo.

the point of singing is to tell a story, you become someone different and show others your experience behind the song. and these two tried to cover this up with 'talented, powerful voices'. this in turn made the performance (imo) terrible... I love GOTYE and i'm kinda sad that I had to see this..
This show has so much bullshit attached to it!...Josh Kyle is out of his class and in the stratosphere by comparison to other contestants and the judges know it!!..He's TOO good!!!!

This was not good, and people started going “woo” and i was 👁️👁️ this song was not a good choice. They shouldve chosen something that is meant to sound so disconnected bc this was the real mess :(
