I still marvel at the mills and factories in West Warwick. They are incredible structures which have lasted for years. My family was from the Portuguese side of town, up and down Phenix Ave. Of course, most of them (and me) worked in those mills at one time or another. My favorite part of growing up in WW is the various ethnicities, food, and the simplicity of small town living. Having moved away in 1979, I’m so happy to see the town take in the work of revitalization. Keep up the good work. - watching from California. ❤️

My “great memere & pep” owned the big front peach house with two apartments in the back and “Coyotes” shoe store at the top of the property on Archembault Ave. Directly across from St John’s and behind Newburys and David cuttrates. (Forgive my spellings). I remember sitting on the side steps of the shoe store and eating penny candy when I was a kid. All while Smelling the sweet smell of lilacs that lined the property. I loved visiting that house so many great memories. I wish I had pictures. Since they passed (Rose & Roland Jarbeau) the houses were knocked down and in its place, I believe, now stands a senior home.

If anyone has any pictures please share. I’d love to see the house. Her neighbors, next to the shoe store before it moved down the street, was the white duplex in this video.

I found this video on my way down a rabbit hole after a Family Guy episode mentioned Warwick. Is West Warwick the same thing?

wow crazy how building a few reservoirs in western coventry then flowing that water down the pawtucxket river u could start all that industry along it and some 100 yrs later one person can purchase the water rights to one of the holding ponds and stop the water flow if wanted crazy
