The B717’s are a great looking plane, and a must-fly on any AV-Geeks bucket list. I’ve read comments of how it’s really quiet in you sit in the first few rows. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! 👍🏼
Agree with you Jayden, the Canberra Qantas Club Lounge team have always been the best, for whatever reason. I was there once a week for 2 years at one stage. They all knew me by name.
Oh yay you flew on our little plane! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully we will get our Q Streaming for the entertainment app back on all aircraft soon 🤞
Great stuff Jayden. Gotta love the 717! 😍 0:35 The business lounge seems very quiet! When I visited on a Sunday in February it was close to three quarters full ... I think because the Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide flights were all around the same time. The one thing I disliked about the business lounge compared to the Qantas Club lounge is that there are no tarmac views. 😥
yep super quiet this time and also the week before, and so was the terminal. I was flying on a Saturday so that's probably why. True, the Qantas Club actually looks pretty good, I googled it. Would love to use the shower there 😂
Excellent video! Not only did you fly on a 717, it was an earlier-built one - the "eyebrow" windows above the windscreen (throwback to the DC-9) were eliminated on later-production models. The curry in the lounge made me hungry again - looks like it was chicken tikka masala! And you with your sparkling wine... 😉Love the interior of the plane - very nice-looking seats and pretty clean, I thought. Comment about the cabin noise level - have you flown on many regional jets (ERJ, CRJ, etc.), and if you can remember, how would you compare their cabin noise to that on the 717? Having tail-mounted engines on the fuselage certainly transmits more noise and vibration to the passenger cabin, particularly at the rear of the plane. This was very obvious on the Boeing 727, DC-9/MD-80, TU-134, TU-154 and IL-62 (probably also YAK-40 and YAK-42 which I never flew on) with their much louder earlier-generation turbofans. Your window views during all parts of the flights are some of the best, a great perk for flying with Jayden. Thanks again!
ah interesting! Do you mean the cockpit windows or the ones in the cabin? You're probably right about the curry! I'll have to buy tikka masala sauce next time I shop for grocery, thank you hehe! I've not flown on CRJ but ERJ a couple times, I thought they were quite quiet! This was my second time flying on a 717. My first time was also my first time flying into Adelaide! Sitting at row 4. That was quite quiet and peaceful I remember. Thanks Britt, enjoy the video today hehe
@@JaydenWong If you look at the windshield, the ones above the actual windscreen, which were navigational aides in the old days on the DC-9s and MD-80s. I'm going to edit my original post to reflect that clarification! Boeing also eliminated those from the 737 starting with the NG aircraft. And I've made chicken tikka masala at home using a jarred simmer sauce by Taste of India - really good!
This reminded me of my Hawaiian Airlines journey on their 717. I admire Qantas Link for giving bigger tables in their 717 seats! Nice video as always, Jayden!
Ineresting to see the 717. Years ago i used to travel quiet a bit on TAA DC9's which i think is the 717 ancestor. Great times . No silly things like security checks etc... then.

Thanks again OWF chief, great vid and very interesting overview of the 717. One would hope that when you choose the exit row that you are granted better leg room as a result. Unfortunately for you, I think your neighbor took advantage of that. I will definitely be going 28A, cant get a better view than that. And most importantly, although the plane is 21 years young, as long as it has coat hooks, I'm on!

Flying on a 717 is on my bucket list. Luckily I live in Brisbane where they fly out of. Jayden as always a great vlog 😀 I’ve always liked the Boeing 717 Jayden when u recognize people or they recognize u u travel there to much lol 😂 I must have missed u sanitizing your seating area Jayden 🤔
I’d love to fly on a 717 at least once but doubt I’ll ever get the chance! Interesting that in Australia ALL exit seats have to be occupied. I’m not even sure if legally anyone has to be sitting there in the UK - BA only introduced a regulation that a minimum of one pax per self help exit row had to be sat there a few years back and I really can’t recall if that was due to a change in the law or it was just considered to be “best practice” after a review of procedures.
most of the MD95 ever made are still flying today so chances aren't too slim! On this flight, the middle seat could be left empty, but aisle and window seats must be occupied. On Jetstar 787, even the middle must be taken🥴
Finally you tried the Qantas B717 , I really like how you can just sit right to the engine in the 717 , definitely a very unique experience(to me at least) . Will you try the Qantas/Virgin AustraliaFokker 100 later ?
Currently 10 hours since upload and no dislikes yet, good job mate! The 717 looks really great in my opinion. I have a question though, I hope you do not mind. While scrolling through comments on your previous videos, I saw that some people refer to you as there “Husband” or “Wife” and some call you “Babe” I am not going to name the people who called you that but you know who you are. My question is do you get uncomfortable with those or have you gotten used to it? I really hope you don’t mind answering. You can answer this privately if you want
thanks mate! 300 likes vs 3 dislikes now. Happy with that haha. I used to cringe so much when getting those messages. Now I’ve gotten used to it but obviously people should realise and know when it’s too much.
Did you note what kind of engines the 717 was using ?. Amazing sound from them. In some ways it's weird not seeing them attached to the wings...real old school ! They remind alot of "olden days"😂 Decent size loo...a definite plus
8:45 wtf is that rule? Never heard of it. I had plenty of flights where I was the only person in the exit row. The only rule I know is, that there must be at least 1 person in each exit row. At least that’s how it works here in Europe.
It’s CASA (Australia’s FAA) Two people must be seated next to each door, so for 717, it’s 14 15 ACDF www.casa.gov.au/file/134946/download?token=iOR7M7re
@@JaydenWong ah kk, interesting, thank you! So in that case, it’s better to have 14F or 15F, because there is the chance that the middle seat is empty, right?
indeed! They have 20 flying around, mainly based in Canberra, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane :) And from those bases, they fly to Sunshine Coast, Tasmania and within WA
I'm always so embarrassed when I can't open the door 🤣🤣 I haven't flown in the 717 but wouldn't mind it, maybe on a Tasmania flight (I'm dying to get there!) Also, omg lol at at the Boston landing announcement at the end of the clip!

thanks mate! 300 likes vs 3 dislikes now. Happy with that haha. I used to cringe so much when getting those messages. Now I’ve gotten used to it but obviously people should realise and know when it’s too much.
@@JaydenWong I noticed sometimes when you reply to those kind of comments you seem uncomfortable.
Did you note what kind of engines the 717 was using ?.
Amazing sound from them. In some ways it's weird not seeing them attached to the wings...real old school !
They remind alot of "olden days"😂
Decent size loo...a definite plus
The 717 has BMW/Rolls-Royce engines, the BR715.
@@brittsaunders4621 ... Thanks.
It's great that we still got 717 flying around! I totally missed out on the DC-10s, MD-11s etc but 717 is good enough haha!
8:45 wtf is that rule? Never heard of it. I had plenty of flights where I was the only person in the exit row. The only rule I know is, that there must be at least 1 person in each exit row. At least that’s how it works here in Europe.
It’s CASA (Australia’s FAA)
Two people must be seated next to each door, so for 717, it’s 14 15 ACDF

@@JaydenWong ah kk, interesting, thank you! So in that case, it’s better to have 14F or 15F, because there is the chance that the middle seat is empty, right?
yep you’re right!
Oh still flying those?
yep! 20x 717s still flying around Australia :D
@@JaydenWong whoa!
is is with qantas or alliance mostly?
Jayden, do you consider the Qantas Boeing 717 to be more noisy than the Qantas Boeing 737?
yes if you're sitting near the engine. 737 can be noisy but it's low and kind of underneath the wing so it's quieter in the cabin :)
How long are you going to read that book ?!
another year maybe haha, read 10 pages yesterday
Soon you can come to the U.K. for our wedding. We can write other reviews of nocturnal fun xx
🥴
Amazing sky view :)

The guy next to you certainly took up alot of leg room 🤭🙈
Manspreading !

Mate, you’ve got no idea how much I was excited to see this vid. Great video mate. I’ve been in the cockpit of VH-NXI
Hope you enjoyed it!
Of course I enjoyed it!
Jackpot if you fly Qantas Link?
haha almost, they're expensive 😂
They stopped the iPad on the 717 long before Covid
oh right, thanks for letting me know!
Nice video & I commend you to not review a larger legroom emergency exit seat...
thank you!
You're very lucky to onboard Boeing B717.
absolutely loved it!
@@JaydenWong glad you enjoy your ride.

I'm always so embarrassed when I can't open the door 🤣🤣 I haven't flown in the 717 but wouldn't mind it, maybe on a Tasmania flight (I'm dying to get there!) Also, omg lol at at the Boston landing announcement at the end of the clip!
yesterday on VA, my friend couldn't even find the lavatory, I rolled my eyes until they almost fell off my head😂 HAHAHA I forgot to cut the last part properly🥴 Edited this video on Thursday morning, I actually sound a bit tired in this video🤣
