    I'm 18 and 5ft 2 and I weigh 47kg and this bike is the perfect fit! It's completely stable safe and easy to handle plus a really good starter bike. Not to mention the fun it gives u and the endless mods.

    Due to emissions and such we never got these gold gems here in the states. The sound of these bikes are one of the reasons I wanted to get a motorcycle as a kid. Now as a seasoned rider I still want one of these even after riding 250s, 600s and liter bikes. Something about the way this bike sounds and the only classic old body frame that I really like. Been trying to find a way to import one (hopefully a 90-93) without braking the bank. Great vid.

    I've been riding for 3 years now and mine is an MC19 (previous version to this). I'm 5ft 2 and she is a perfect fit for me. We have two of these bikes (one we are setting up for track) and my son learnt on one too. My hubby has many bikes but when he jumps on mine he always has a blast and a smile on his face. I wouldn't trade her for nothing! Everything you said in your review is spot on. Except the comfort. I've ridden 5 hours on mine in a day and had no issues and I'm 54. And also the thing with changing directions and the handlebars being so tight in, well I use my body to change directions, you sway your hips and she's where you need her to be.

    i got one in mint condition and love it to bits, and it is not an uncomfortable bike you are just to big for it. it has a low seat height and short reach, but I'm 5'4 and i can flat foot both feet with slight knee bend and arms comfortable. its a matter of fit and if you are a shorter person this bike is a great choice and you will have great feel and fit for it.

    A motor trimmer fixed the seat discomfort problem on mine . The engine is louder than it's relatives due to the gear driven cams which do need to be replaced eventually but this is EXPENSIVE ! Electrical problems are common in them due to their age . I have heard of engine failures in ones that are raced a lot or frequently redlined . The engines aren't quite bullett proof & they run hot in peak hour traffic jams on hot days due to an inadequate radiator fan . A mate blew his up due to overheating in this situation . The microsquirt kit & ECU & injectors can cure the poor low to medium rpm performance problem . They also have incurable torque flat spots at 5,000 & 8,000 RPM due to a bad ignitor map as seen on the dyno .Yamaha FZR250 doesn't have this problem as I have compared both . The Yamaha engine has a rawer sound which I prefer . The gear driven cams have a bad high pitch harmonic unlike chain driven cams which causes me shoulder pain after a time .This is a big mistake on Honda's part . I prefer the Yamaha or the Suzuki 913 for this reason . They are slightly easier to work on as well than the Honda MC22 .

      I’m fairly sure there were only sold in Australia and Japan, it’s basically impossible to get them anywhere else.

    Nice review mate. I ride the '98 model. You'd be surprised with the comfort. I'm 6'5" and manage to squeeze onto it... barely. Looks like I'm riding a pocket bike but i don't mind. It's way too much fun.

    I own the little but very mighty cbr250rr,
    I live on goldcoast,I picked her up with
    19.275km,for 2500 with year rego in Victoria,,
    It has been the best thing Eva,,
    I would highly recommend to any beginner rider
    ,,my mate also got one(he had never road a motorcycle before,,let alone a super sport),
    1 lowspeed drop,,
    Apart from that the bike has gave him some great experiences

    Bought a 1990 mc22 a few weeks ago. It sounds awesome! I actually find it reasonably comfortable. Though I am going to recover the seat as it has a small rip, going to add some new foam to it before recovering. Wasn't the style bike i was looking for, but had to have it for it's nostalgic awesomeness and noises! haha

      Reupholstering the seat is wise . I did this when converting mine to Tyga configuration . It is now much better for longer riding sessions .The stock seat is a real el - cheapo let down to cut corners on Honda's part during manufacturing . My Yamaha FZR 250 has now had the same treatment . Riding either is now something I look forward to even though I love the FZR slightly more than the Tyga MC22 . My EXUP system is running great now .

      I turned the thing into a naked stumpy. Put a different muffler on I modified. Looks and sounds so different. 😂
      Though I have to put it up for sale soon. So will be painting a spare tank I bought the same colour scheme as the tank cover and putting all the fairing back on.
      Still going to get the seat redone though. Have a bloke at work that can do it for me, add some extra comfort foam to the sides.

    I own one of these and it's VERY easy to break any speedlimit big time. As a matter of facts, it's quite hard to keep under the speedlimits since it has no torque and it's just unhappy at lower revs. It starts to pull between 8k-12k, it's a pocket rocket above 12k. None of my friends with bigger bikes can keep up with this thing

    Still have mine. Fantastic little bike these are, agree with your comments, especially the fact that it's a ball crusher! haha. Happy to get off my restrictions soon too. Upgrading to a bigger SS but this bike has also sold me on the experience. Good review!

    And I could not go on about the mc22 more. Not only does mine crush a brand new cbr500r in corners, I beat his ass in a straight drag and that was with shit launch. You can hit 4.8 seconds 0-100 if you rev the shit out of it.
    If anyone else here owns one, I implore you to take care of it like your first born. These things are not long for this world. It's not like they are making bikes like this now

      +FightClubProjectM The MC22 is heaps of fun but I wouldn't wanna live with it full time as my only bike, it's too much effort imho. But maybe I'm just old and grouchy :P

      Yeah man I feel ya, my body is slowly dying cause of it but it's so addictive. Today I got more lean than ever, to the point I caught the foot peg and fucking went down. I'm alright no broken bones just pretty banged up, the bike is still repairable luckily.

      +Hagz It's a mystery to me why this style of bike has gone out of fashion with motorcycle manufacturers. Nowadays they're all obsessed with singles and twins (e.g., the 500R/F). I imagine it is to with people being able to ride bigger than 250cc bikes now. But even so, I think people would be all over a modern 250cc 4 cylinder sport bike.

      I heard it was emissions in japan. Not to mention people seemed to want their sportbikes to be more friendly on the commute. Bah! The only thing that keeps the dream alive in honda's stable right now is the CB400SF and it's a naked. It's a shame, for sure!

    Yeah they aren't comfy. But I ride mine every single day, for commuting and then smashing out twistes after work or before it almost every day haha. No work, ill ride for 5 hours till

      +Rickyswoop Compared to the newer 250rs these are totally different bikes! 250rr is a 4 cylinder baby sports bike. 250r is a single cylinder commuter bike

    Very nimble little bikes, they feel like a 125cc. Power starts at around 11,000rpm thru to 18,000rpm. Top speed is about 180 kph.

    Did your girl get a rr? I wouldn't recommend to someone brand new and that small though. Especially considering the turning circle and how much they like to dive sideways into the ground at low speeds

    wanting to start riding and was deciding on spending a bit more and getting a ninja 300 or get this. I've liked the rr for so long and i think i'm going to get it. Not to mention it's cheaper and for the time i'll be learning, it will be a better experience too

      Peter McKenzie The CBR250RR will hold its value better too because its such a cult bike. Ninja 300 is a great little bike but you'll lose more money on it I think. Although, this is assuming the 250RR you buy doesn't end up costing you lots in maintenance etc. (they are old after all!)

      They are an absolute ball of fun man. I adore mine. I have had no dramas maintenance wise, because honestly, you should be looking after your bike anyway. Don't let their age fool you, they are reliable (its a Honda) and parts in Australia are surprisingly easy to come by, and actually quite cheap, and they are just straight up fun. Light, easy to throw around, so much RPM that you can't really get the wrong gear in the twisties and they can give some of the bigger bikes a run for their money in said twisties.

    P.s buy pirelli sport demons 170/40 rear 110/70 I think front. No other tyre feels as good on these. Worth the cash.

    Try the NSR 125 it got a very low seat hight u can get a good one for around 1.5k€ in europe dont know in Australia (try not to looking for an MC22 in germany.. No chance) got around 24 to 34 HP depends on version but ist at least 10 jears old :/
    But for me it doesnt matter is is just great ;D

    mine seems to have more power than this one and a lumpy idle... (top speed is still ~200)
    does someone make cams or a big bore kit for these? i rode 4 before purchasing my mc22, the one i got was the only one that was faster and had a lumpy idle.
    i assumed it was less worn out, but im not sure.

      TheRyadrian I am not sorry to correct. No MC22 ever revved to 20k. Earlier models were the highest and hit 19k rpm. I believe the later models were at 18k before the model run ended. If this is a later model 10k out of 18k is 55.55%. While still not exactly 60%, on the fly, I would still give him more credit for his fairly close math than your fairly wrong redline stat considering you had the opportunity to search Google before posting.

      @@TL-ds8ux I ran mine up to 20k during testing with EFI & a programmable microsquirt ECU for a few seconds on dyno no problem .Rev limit is adjustable on microsquirt . They let go at about 23k or so ( catastrophic failure ) . We sacrificed an engine for the 23 k test .
