Just to save anyone else from wasting their time, this video doesn't actually cover the complete setup for the particle demoed at the start. He ends about mid way and it's not really that obvious how to use this as intended.
Here are timestamps for ppl who are looking for specifics 1:15 burst emitter 3:44 trails emitter 7:30 system setup 8:25 Persistent IDs to be checked 11:07 reduce gaps from ribbon 14:25 projectile trail system
For anyone having issues compiling after adding the generate location event on the first emitter in 4.26, you must check the box for Requires Persistent IDs. I just typed it in the search on the selection panel. I gave up the first time doing this tutorial but took a day off and tried again. I hope this helps someone!
FIX if your trails are flickering and you cant figure out why 1. Go to the Ribbon renderer 2. Find UV0Tiling Distance (3 nodes below the ribbon material if you cant find it) and set it to 500, and your flickering should be gone FIX If you cant find the default ribbon material while setting up the trial material 1. Open the "Material "dropdown tab 2. Click on view options in the lower right corner and make sure both "show engine content" and "show plugin content" are enabled 3. Normally you should find it now FIX If the "Generate Location event" is not working for you while setting up the lead particles (and you are watching step by step) He goes over this in the video but not until way later, in newer versions this instantly gives an error and you might put off the tutorial 1. Go to the emitter properties and check "Requires persistent IDs" (this makes it so niagara links an ID to every particle) 2. Check if it is under particle update and not particle spawn, in the version of the video it might look that it is below particle spawn, which will result in an error
Hey this is a really great tutorial, but when I attached it to a mesh to get the trail to lead after it, it didn't work, only the lead particle spawned, is there a way to set this up or?
Im having an issue where when I add my custom gradient material, some ribbons start glitching out and going all over the place while others behave normaly and follow the burst particles. Do you know why this happens?
@@stefke1993carina I can't seem to find the DefaultRibbon material. I've run into this on another tutorial as well - I don't seem to have the same materials they use in some of the tutorials :(
@@colbywinfield You have to go and check plugin content and engine content in your view option, look for the niagara folder and you'll find them. If you are going to use them a lot, you can copy paste them in your fx folder and then uncheck engine and plugin content :D
would this work on 4.19? i'm asking because i tried doing a few other niagara particles based on other tutorials and none of them worked. and if it would work, could you please make a tutorial on how you made those trails? there are literally 0 tutorials on ribbon particle trails. thanks!

Thank you so much :)
Thank you! This tutorial is exactly what I needed, and you explained things very clearly!
There seems to be no defaultribbonmaterial in my project or starter content
Can you show us how you created the sprite trails and pow collision effect?
You make good tutorials my dude.
This was great! Thank you for making this :)

PLZ go step by step!

I fixed it by disabling interpolated spawnign (keeping persistent IDs on)

Thank you so much!! Really helped !
I would like a pow burst video.
OH MY GOD! Somebody that doesn't have a horrible accent! Subscribe!
u dont even show how to properly setup death event
nice
What a shock, the king of shitty niagara "tutorials" would show up to praise yet another incomplete tutorial.
when recording, you should grab a non-mechnical keyboard
out of date.
